This is a 1961 Buick Electra 4-Door Hardtop, 401 Nail head 445 Wildcat original 4H suffix 325 4-barrel car. It’s a local car with original paint and drivetrain, 80k miles original, even though the new title says exempt, I have a folder full of docs including original dealer invoice, and the original title. A nurse at Augusta University Hospital bought the car new in 1961 from Sullivan Buick in Anderson SC and I have that bill of sale from the dealer. She traded a 48 Buick at the time. When she passed away the car was inherited by her niece in Anderson SC and belonged to her family until just a few years ago.
Nichols Automotive, my go to A1 rated mechanical shop, inspected, tuned, and installed a new radiator, water pump, fuel pump, plugs, new points, lower radiator hose, upper radiator hose and thermostat. He also installed a new Edelbrock carb, I kept the original one, it needs rebuilt. He serviced and changed the Oil and filter, the fuel filter, and some other miscellaneous items, and she runs, rides, and drives great. I also had new carpet and package tray redone. I spent $3512 servicing the car. This Buick drives and handles great. It is a factory AC car, but AC doesn’t work, I did not sort that out. Also, it is a factory power seat car. The power seat motor works and you can hear it engage; however, the seat transmission must be out because it doesn’t move. It is in the position all the way back, which is good for me. The car has a big cool factor, like the dash mirror with the actual gauges lying flat. All the lights, turn signals Factory Wonder Bar AM radio, horns, fuel gauge, speedometer, and all other gauges do work and function great, including all dash warning and indicator lights.
This is a real good, original, honest, and rare car. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. It gets a huge amount of attention at all the car shows and events, and a rare original collection piece.

I worked for a Buick dealer while I was in high school. I graduated in 1969 and bought a 64 Electra convertible with a Wildcat 445. It had a red leather interior. Was a great car for getting Friday night dates.

I've always thought that this body was the absolute high point of 4 door hardtop design. I'm glad that Cadillac, Buick and Oldsmobile 98 were able to share it.
