I'm in the Rouvy camp. I don't use a smart trainer, prefer my quiet, smoove and reliable Kurt Kinetic Road Machine with pro flywheel and 4iii power meter. Rouvy just looks better on a big screen than anything else, always a new route to try.
The quality of the videos just gets better and better. I rode “Liege from Adrimont” yesterday and it was way better than videos produced just a couple years ago. Super sharp resolution and zero rolling shutter.
This is a timely video as we head into the winter season, as people discover, rediscover or reconsider their indoor training platforms. For the record, I do agree with your assessment and opinion in the original video. Now, you're going to need to analyze the comments on the comments. :) I recently started exploring Zwift, only because there are more riders and I am curious about the social aspects - i.e., exactly as you mentioned. I am surprised MyWhoosh did not appear as the alternate platforms. I do think the Rouvy ERG/SIM mode strategy makes total sense. And, yes there are recent changes in Rouvy that allow more choice in workout mode (Freestyle mode).
Thanks, Anthony. I'm surprised as well that MyWhoosh wasn't mentioned. It is still early days for that app, so I do think they are going to have massive growth in the next couple years. They have too much money behind them not to. The biggest threat to Zwift's dominance is, of course, MyWhoosh, as both have very similar approaches to indoor training.
I'm still making my vintage computrainer work. I know it can't last forever though, so I appreciate videos like this one to decide what replaces it when the day comes.
I have a friend in the same predicament. He's owned a computrainer for years, but it just won't die. Every year he thinks he'll need to upgrade, but it just lives on!
Should be able to navigate rouvy menus on appletv remote with direction buttons instead of touch slide sensor. By the end of my ride my hand is so sweaty that I have a hard time navigating menus!
I'm new to indoor cycling. I seem to like the concept of Rouvy more, I'm not into the social aspect of it all, but I can't decide which one to use because of one thing, the Zwift Cog w/ virtual shifting. It's suppose to be quieter, and I like the idea of not wearing out an expensive cassette over time. Any ideas or recommendations? Does ROUVY off virtual shifting? Should I just buy a cheap cassette, and replace it when needed? Currently my bike is set up with a Sram drive train. Sorry if this was mentioned in another comment. I tend to only watch the videos, and read the first couple of comments.
Unfortunately, Rouvy does not currently support virtual shifting in SIM Mode. So if you used the Zwift Cog with Rouvy, it would work fine when used for Workouts in ERG Mode, but you wouldn’t be able to shift. According to DC Rainmaker, compatibility between the Zwift Cog w/t virtual shifting is supposed to be coming at some point, but no ETA yet. If you really want to use Rouvy, I’d suggest you go with a traditional smart trainer and an inexpensive cassette. Plus, a good pair of noise canceling earbuds. Seriously. I reviewed the Bose QuietComfort Plus earbuds and they are excellent. Block out all background noise from the indoor bike, fan, etc.
Did Zwift for 2 weeks, Hooked on Rouvy, no comparison.
I intend to buy smart trainer soon, and after a little investigation ROUVY is my choice for cycling app. Thanks a lot
Thanks for watching!
I just started with Rouvy and you gave some good explenations what to expect.
Glad it helped!

I love Rouvy

Yeah, that's a bit of a pain. Very finicky. It’s especially hard navigating the keypad with the AppleTV remote.

@@bikesbymike Thanks! I just ordered the Kickr Core and I'll wait on the cog until it becomes compatible with Rouvy.
@@deadcandisco5974 Nice! See you on a Rouvy course.
