I left Zwift for Rouvy a couple years ago and I've never regretted it. On Zwift you're one of hundreds in close quarters on every ride..it's like rush hour in downtown on a Friday (not my thing). Rouvy is so much more like cycling outside...real life roads, climbs, gradients, buildings, cars, and scenery. On a normal outside ride I might see 10-20 other cyclists and often just enjoy the surroundings unless I have a real workout planned. That's how Rouvy is. Mostly though, I enjoy "visiting" so many other countries where I'll likely never actually ride in real life.
Very true. The idea of videoed scenery is great. Funny situations sometimes come up, like taking 90 deg. corners at 60 km/h or recorded animal crossing the road, but yes. It's great.
It has been a great improvement however there is one feature I used a lot in the previous version and is no longer available. Back on the days you were able to search for routes in the map. That was very useful to explore places before traveling since the name of the rides are not always aligned with the cities or countries. For example if you look for “Hawaii” you will find several rides but no information of which island the ride is or also no way to see the ride on a map before doing the ride. If they could correct that, the would be perfect for what I look for.
Big fan of Rouvy, I love the gradient graphic at the top left of the UI that makes it super easy to see what is seconds in front of you. Way better than Swift's version. I don't ride Rouvy enough to justify a monthly subscription though. I wish they could have an option to charge a small fee per ride or something
I much prefer Fulgaz's graphics, showing the entire ride elevation. I also like that Fulgaz shows current gear combination. But the overall experience and ride feel on Rouvy suits me better, so I use Rouvy.
Bring on the competition! That said, I really don't see the feature set of Rouvy overcoming the inertia of users on Zwift who have 'leveled' and invested thousands of hours into the platform. Just like Windows, other OS's have better feature sets, but sheer inertia made Windows the absolute juggernaut of PCs.
you won’t regret it. I have used it for 3 yrs and won’t go any where else. I don’t like cartoon riding. I even have some local routes two miles from home I can scout for real life. One of my big goals is to ride Lotoja. I can ride all 208 miles at my own pace and when I want.
One aspect of outdoor cycling I like is doing the same circular route once a week to gauge my fitness. Over time you get a good idea how fit you are and it’s fun to race against your old times. With ROUVY I have enjoyed doing routes over again to test fitness. I have preferred riding on what looks like real roads rather than a cartoon landscape. So far I have enjoyed my switch from Zwift but keep an open mind.
It would be nice to see some routes from Calpe. Nowadays it's the most popular place for professional and amateur cyclists to ride the bike. So far, I only found 1 route with a video. It would be nice to see some extra routes of calpe (for example 'coll des rates', 'col de tudons'...)
This sounds more like a commercial instead of a review. Would have liked maybe a solid 10 seconds of what riding would look like rather than jumping from view to view.
@@Chader9 where does it say "includes paid promotion"? I agree this is not a review, but I was expsecting more than a read out of the pr email they got sent.
@@LiamHaHaX The "paid" flag appears at the top left corner of the video when I view it on Chrome with my PC. It disappears after a short time. It may not show in the same place depending on the device and method of viewing.
Maybe you can, but it might need a bit more equipment. If you can, try this: 1. Setup a Tablet/Head Unit with a Workout, controlling the smart trainer via ant+ 2. Setup a Laptop/PC/Tablet with Rouvy, listening to the smart trainer output via Bluetooth (but not controlling it). Currently, I'm using XERT workouts on my tablet and Rouvy on my laptop. My setup is even more complicated since I'm also 'power matching' my crank based power meter with my smart trainer!
Hi, just put your workout from Trainer road in Training Peaks, Rouvy will import them. You have a folder TrainingPeaks in workout and in my favorite you will find your workout of the day.
Used (and loved) the "original" Rouvy and used it during winter training to ride thru Europe and explore new cities. Dropped it when the weather improved enough to ride outside but signed up again when the "new" version came out. But, after four rides with three screen freezes mid-ride, I decided the "new" Rouvy wasn't quite ready for prime time and I'm back to Zwift (which I hate because of the lack of realism and 2nd rate computer graphics). Fix the bugs and I'll be back (again).
If Zwift progress in the UI stuff and implement the possibility to upload GPX files it will be hard to beat them. With the new Zwift Hub One you have also virtual shifting which is damn good. The realistic graphic is not that big game changer in my opinion. Some people do like it more but many just don't care. The gamification aspect in zwift is also a big motivation to sit on the bike every day, which is good. And you see that it works. There are like more than 3000 users logged in on a monday early morning.
One of Zwift's biggest advantages - if you're that way inclined - is the huge number of races staged by the platform. The buzz of competition is pretty much always available.
Still no road feel on the Tacx Neo, and no integration with Trainer Road. I like the realistic rides. If they'd address those two issues I'd stop looking for alternatives.
I joined Rouvy recently. I like the UI and the scenery, and the absence of "bridge the gap" messages that can't be turned off. I'm having some difficulty with the companion app. It is not syncing with my laptop where I'm running/watching Rouvy from. Tried reinstalling and so far I don't know what is wrong. Apart from this all good so far.
In my previous comment I said that £129.09 had been taken from my bank account without warning. I forgot to mention that the price between 2023 and 2024 had increased from £113.45 to £129.09. That's 14% !! I suspect that a lot of people might well have thought that the new price was too high and decided to cancel. Rouvy keeps that option from them.
Wow that's amazingly stupid of them. Garmin has had that for a decade at least and probably much longer. Garmins firmware features is one of the first things they should have copied.
Regular user. It's better than it was, but there are still some minor frustrating issues. Like joining rides switching into joining challenge screen - one still can't determine what other rides are within given challenge. Lack of filters on the riders statistics website, where one could quickly list given route rides and compare results for it. Other thing could be quick download of many rides (as fit files) in a single archive (zip file), one just has to plow route by route and save stuff file by file.
Thank you. I'll give them a whirl. I noticed the author says it's Rouvy, so are you part of their team? I always wondered why some routes have named authors and others say Rouvy?
@@WowRixter Not sure why they do that. I was a little surprised they put their name on it but my thoughts are that more people would ride them :). Took me a long time to make the Centennial Lake video. I initially started recording from the Calabogie Ski hill to my cottage. Then I hit a freak thunderstorm. So, drove up to me lake and waited out the storm. I recorded back to the ski Hill. I actually recorded once again coming from the ski hill but ran into battery problems. I did complete the route but Rouvy never put the route up. I hope to do some more routes next year. There’s some great rides at my cottage. If riding the Matawatchan route, the road to my cottage is down the second road on the right hand side.
I still think the search facilities are not easy to navigate. It would be useful to be able to choose a country and put in a place name and ask for routes in the area. So far, and I have only been a user for a month, I have not found out how to do this
i tried Rouvy before and 1 thing i dislike is i feel isolated and lonely riding in app. Did they change the online world where you bump into strangers riding same route?
I started cycling three years ago and have used Zwift the last two indoor seasons. Thinking of trying Rouvy, but wondering if there are ways to hop on and do a 30 minute ride or something I'm more likely to do more often. I don't want to jump on and do an Ironman course every day. :) Thanks.
I can't find any way to contact Rouvy. So far, I'm not liking this experience, I think I had to give them my email to see anything initially, then I had to give them my credit card to start my free trial (Zwift let's you start free trial without supplying card), now I can't find a way to contact them to complain about not getting my full month free trial. SO ANNOYING!
