What I do - just needs a cable and you can even canabilise a cable from the system if you want to save a little money (I bought an extra myself to make it easier).
Hi Mike, you have done it again. Excellent video! Wondering, if I can update the shifter levers on my 2024 12 speed 105 DI2 giant defy advanced pro 1 through the wired method explained in this video!
@@bikesbymike just curious, how much did the di2 cable and cable junction connector cost you ? What is the best place to buy these two parts ? I see that these parts are available on Ali express as well, however, what do you suggest from where should I buy these parts to update the firmware of the 105 di2 shifter levers ?
@@amritv6889 AliExpress is probably fine, but I chose to purchase my parts from bike shops. I purchased the 2-port junction and 1400mm cable from Jenson USA. Great online shop as they offer all-in, to-your-door pricing for Canadian customers. You won't get surprised by duties and brokerage charges. $21.99 USD for junction and $23.99 for cable. The cable tool I bought from Primeau Velo in Quebec for $7.99 CAD + shipping.
i bought that 2 port junction thing and a spare cable just in case, thinking i would probably never use it cause shimano rarely updates the firmware, and when they do it's just something minor that i could skip, who would of thought they actually came up with something very useful, the front shift next function, giving my no hood button 105 di2 a spare button to program.
Super helpful. Clear and concise. Thanks!
Thanks!
Thank you, very informative...and candidly exactly what I need to update my levers
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent video, extremely clear and concise. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Very helpful, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent video Mike. The table was super helpful. I want to update my DuraAce so I can potentially shift from the buttons under the hoods
Glad it was helpful!
just plug it into the battery. No junction box necessary.

@@bikesbymike thanks Mike, have a great day buddy!
Mike can’t you also use the cable that plugs into the 12sp rear derailleur to power the shifters?
Yes, you are correct! My mistake. So, in addition to wiring the levers to either the Di2 battery or the FD, you can wire them to the rear derailleur.

Handy if not using Full Synchro Mode.
FD-RX825 is this Function with this Methode ?
Yes, it will work.
