Fixing for the little portable humidifier that doesn't mist. Most generic brands - IKER, FIGROL, etc

  • I have this little humidifier that I use for traveling. It was super cheap - less than $20 on Amazon. You can find several of them under different brand names. It worked great! Until it stopped working. Since I sleep with my mouth open and hotel rooms are generally too dry for me and many hotels don't have humidifiers, I tried to fix it. Luckily, it didn't take much for me to fix it and I'm sharing how to do it here.

    Thanks, I too fixed mine with help of this video. One point I think I should add is that when I tried the way it was described it did not work out. Basically, the wick should be pressed hard on the top and that is why he ties the plastic wire at bottom so that the wick does not slide down the tube. In my humidifier, there was a small spring at the bottom and maybe the spring lost its ability to keep the wick's top-end pressed against the diffuser. So I cut a small piece of pencil eraser so that I could put that at the bottom of the tube and placed the wick on it so that the piece of eraser pushes it further. Having the spring and the eraser block helped to keep the top wick in contact and thus the diffuser started to work.

    Thanks for the advice about soaking the cotton swab completely. I did not find it in the user manual or any other tutorial on how to use it, and almost got mad on the product. Then I found your tutorial and that saved the day. So thank you so much.

    Thank you! I was just about to toss it! Your solution was perfect! My unit did not have any opening on the bottom like yours, so I used a spring I had to hoist up the filter. Also did not know that the filter had to be soaking wet first. I suppose, for those who don't have a spring handy, a manipulated paper clip would work too.
    Thanks so much for your help!!

    My original intention for this humidifier was to use it for plants that require high moisture levels. After using it in my room, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxtD9aJ2m6GU-X1IChQxjn9l31K1A7Kpwj however, I think that's where it is going to stay in the fall and winter season at least. The increased humidity in my room made the room warmer and more comfortable. I had first ran the humidifier for 4 hours with the timer setting for it. After the first hour, I checked my room and can feel the difference. When the full 4 hours was up, I checked again and noticed that the humidifier was shut off as it is suppose to. The moisture level never seem to get passed 56/57%. I then let it run until all the water is used up, which it wasn't all used up. There are still some left in the base that you are not suppose to add water to. I filled up the water tank all the way again, being careful when removing it from the base. Some left over water may spill out. After putting it back on and setting the unit to auto, I let it operate. It didn't stop running, rather I don't know if it did at any point since I didn't check it regularly, for 24 hours after which the water in the tank ran out. The moisture reading never passed 56/57%, which may be a good thing for me. Being situated right next to my bed, the noise was not very noticeable with the occasional water gurgle from time to time as the unit ran.

    Thank you very much. This solved my problem! My new humidifier wasn't working and I found a small metal spring on the floor. This video made me realise that it had fallen out and I needed to place the spring in the bottom of the plastic tube to exert upward pressure on the wick. Perfect.

      Just to be clear, the spring/metal disc touching the water should be on the bottom i.e. it should be closer to the water and not where the mist comes out of. Hope that helps

    I tried what you did but it didn't fix the mist. What should be the best thing to do since I put a lot of oil in the water, and then it suddenly did not work out. Please give me suggestion.

    • @88BlueKeys4U
      @88BlueKeys4U หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      These oils can be the root cause of the issue. Firstly water and oil do not mix (without special emulgating additions). If you run low on water you will find the colored oil sitting in the bottom container AND AT THE TOP end of the wick, causing clogging. Good oils are thick and very sticky, can even glue the two case sections together, preventing them to separate. At a minimum a new clean and well soaked wick should be tried when the membrane stops working. So far I have not found a way to dismantle the delicate top piece (ultrasonic speaker) to see why mine stopped working after a mere 50hr, using a tiny portion of lemongrass oil in the water.
      Quintessentially my verdict is trivial: the cheap small 'humidifiers' do NOT create any measurable moisture into the air. And they certainly suffer from any addition of fragrant substances, clogging the wick and mist generator very easily.
      Count me out.

    İ tried this and it didn't work. Then i flipped the maschine when it was open, filled the point where tube is inserted with little water and it started working. So there has to be water we knew that, then i soaked the sponge and pressed it again. İt didn't work. Then i filled the whole cup with water. Covered the metal important parts with waterproof material then flipped the whole maschine so there'll be plenty to make it work. İt didn't work again. What can i do now i am realky confused. Does there has to be 2 metal endings in both sides of the sponge, what is the mechanism??????
