One of our BEST days in the KRUGER Park as we drive across to LOWER SABIE Camp | Season 2, Day 2.

  • We get up early and head out for the sunrise safari drive. It’s not long before we’re spoilt with a BUFFALO herd at a nearby waterhole. We take in the scenes over a cup of coffee, before heading back to Berg-en-Dal to check out, and make our way to LOWER SABIE Camp. The drive across the lower part of the Kruger National Park is nothing short of spectacular as we witness the release of a RHINO, a pride of LIONS resting in a river bed, and some amazing ELEPHANT sightings…all before we even make it to the next camp.
    Come join us for the ride, and if you enjoy the content, please give it a thumbs up, and subscribe to the channel. You’ll get notified of new episodes and new adventures that we undertake.

    These roads and river fords look very familiar, as does the Lower Sabie area. I truly miss this. Paul Kruger and the SA Government of the day had incredible foresight to create Kruger National Park almost a century before conservation and environmentalism became a big issue. Truly wonderful, thank you for this video.

      You’re most welcome - indeed, deep foresight back then has resulted in so many adventures to this day. When last did you visit Kruger?

      @@graemecumming I was there in May 2021 and again in early April 2022. I may be back in S.A. in December.

    Thouroughly enjoying your Kruger tours. Even the Shamwari tour to celebrate the 80th birthday. Shamwari is near my brother, Jimmie Emslie's farm at Sevenfountains. He is Albany Pumps and does the water reticulation installations and maintenance at Shamwari.

      Thanks Asa. It's so sad that we are at the point where Rhino's are being de-horned in order to protect them...but yes, it was special to see this Rhino being released back into the wild.

    So sad...don't think I will ever see a rhino in the wild with a horn..but ja if that's what it takes to protect this species

    • @graemecumming
      @graemecumming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is sad. Personally I don’t believe it’s sustainable or fair to dehorn. Current solution, but I’m confident that better solutions will be found soon. Thanks for watching and for your comment Melissa.

      Thanks Paulo. I use the GoPro Hero 8 Black mostly but for the close up shots, I recently bought the Canon EOS M50 MK II with 70-300mm lens. The Canon is proving to be really good as you’ll see throughout the rest of the series with some of the closeups I managed to get.

    Don't Rhinos need their horn for protection against predators???

    • @graemecumming
      @graemecumming  ปีที่แล้ว

      You raise a good point Brenda - It is known that rhinos use their horns for several functions, including defending territory, calves from other rhinos and predators and foraging behaviour, such as digging for water and breaking branches. The sad truth here, is that the removal of the horn, although detrimental to the above behaviours, is likely to keep the rhino alive from poachers. The just is out on whether this is the best way to protect them against poachers though - its a really sad, and desperate situation.

    You could improve your videos quite a bit by keeping the camera on scenery and not on you. You tell us how nice the scenery is, but …….. show us than no explanation is necessary.
