I love these old things. Do em right and they’re pretty hassle free. I was definitely working her hard coming back from Tennessee so a head gasket is the least of my worries
Thanks for watching. I love Shovelheads. I'll be posting a lot more bike content and walk arounds on the 3 Shovelheads I currently have and some a few Ironheads that need some love.
Thanks for these 2 awesome videos. I am about to tackle my 1982 FXWG. I am going to do both most likely. Sad thing is that I got her running after 13 years of sitting and it was running great. Same head blew a gasket the front head. For me since I will have it apart I am going to do both. Hopefully the valves and the piston look good. If not I guess I will take it further.
Thanks for watching! I've been slacking on shovel content since I've been playing with ironheads, but I plan on doing a full engine rebuild on this as soon as I can get the ironhead chopper starting easy and riding well. Dotties wants a freshened up/balanced flywheel to cut down a bit of vibration (in theory) until I stroke it.... Glad to help! Thanks for watching!
I did that on my 83 FXWG a couple years ago. Still doing good today!

James fire ring gaskets hold up much better.
Noted. I'll keep that in mind when I have to dive in again.
