  • Proposed Installation for 'BIAL's ART PROGRAMME', Bangalore International Airport Limited.
The Art Programme in the new Terminal is primarily inspired by two features; the arts and cultural heritage of Karnataka and the thematic of 'Naurasa' or the nine emotions, as put forward in Bharata's Natyashashtra. Taking this as a brief, ‘Naurasa’ being the muse, I had proposed a series of photographs depicting the emotions of different people. Each face - a story. These people will be from Bangalore, from different walks of life, different age groups, faiths and professions. This set of eight photographs can be looked at individually as well as collectively as one. There will be eight sets of transparent layers printed manually using a historical printing process - ‘cyanotype’. The process is quite complex on a larger size of glass, I almost printed all the glasses three times to get the result that you see in the last shoot.
Each photograph will showcase one rasa i.e. sringara, hasya, karuna, raudra, vira, bhayanaka, bibhatsa & adbhuta.

Question? Can cyanotype on glass be used for for decorative windows? Its noticeable that there are numerous tutorials on TH-cam on how to do cyanotype on glass, however not a single display of decorative windows with cyanotype on glass. Be it for external or interior windows with cyanotype on glass. Should anyone know if it is possible to use cyanotype on glass for decorative windows please let me know. Thanks.

I'm actually trying to work out how to make large scale cyanotypes, so they are a mural. Is it totally impossible? Other than to recreate the image on a larger scale digitally or with paint.

I'm coming kinda late to this video, but I'm interested in doing prints on glass myself and I have few questions. Did you mixed gelatin with chemicals together or coated them on separate layers ? Did you used UV Light to print it ?

Interesting to see and a good result but a bit useless as an instructional programme as it contained no commentary. I would suspect there would need to be some additive to make the chemistry “ stick “ to the very clean glass . It could have been so much more helpful.
