DIY sun-sensitive prints with turmeric! (turmeric anthotypes)

You will need:
Turmeric powder
Alcohol (vodka, medical alcohol, 70% isopropyl alcohol should all work!)
Baking soda (or borax)
Leaves, paper cutouts, stickers, etc.
Aluminum tray
Disposable cups/utensils
Gloves
Paper towel (cloth, coffee filter, etc)
Paper (I used watercolor paper)
STEPS:
Mix 1 teaspoon turmeric powder and 4-6 teaspoons of alcohol
Filter the mixture through a towel and squeeze
Remember to wear gloves!! Turmeric will stain
Paint a thin mixture on paper, let paper dry completely
Put leaves, stickers, paper cutouts, etc. on top
Leave under sunlight for 5-6 hours, or the whole day
Mix 2 teaspoons of baking soda and ½ cup warm water
Slowly pour this solution over your image, and rinse with water to get rid of leftover baking soda
Let dry in a dark place, like a cupboard or shoebox
Store in a photo-album or cover with wax to prevent fading! It will fade with light exposure over time

This is a great introduction to anthotypes. I've been using all kinds of emulsions. The idea of chemical-free images is what drew me back to traditional photography.
But, it's TUR-meric, not TOO-meric.
