Brilliant film Anna, and well done!! I did Endure 24 Reading this year in a team of 4 and managed 30 miles. Your film captures the atmosphere and spirit beautifully! It's an amazing event where everyone is going through their own mental and physical battle. Loved it, will definitely be doing it again!
An Anna video without tears? How unusual! Ha. I mean that in the best way, once of the strengths of Anna in front of the camera is seeing all the emotion. Loved this video :)
What an amazing effort! I cannot even comprehend running that long, then sleeping and getting straight back up to run again. Here's an idea - the beer mile - 1 beer per lap (you know where I'm going with this). Beer 24. 5 mile lap - 1 beer per lap - GO!
Great to bump into you (twice) on the laps and get a selfie update. My first Endure24 and we managed 29 laps as a small mixed team-great fun and we all want to do it again ! Well done you!
I've wanted to do a 24 hour race for a while now but I think I should probably get through marathon training and my first marathon. I'm 14 and I've always loved running long distances. I finished an 18 mile run two days ago it was the worst physical pain I've felt but very worth it
Great that you're so driven and love running long distance so much! 👏 probably best to train for a marathon distance before you take on an ultra marathon, but it's a brilliant long term goal to have! What's been your favourite distance so far?
Anna acts and represents herself as an average runner, but in truth, she's a stone-cold badass. My other takeaway from this video was seeing it light at 10:00 pm and being reminded just how far north England actually is...
The first time I did 100k I took hour breaks between ~10.4 mile loops. It was a disaster. Like you I found that I got sore and tight during the breaks and getting going again was absolutely torture. Since then I have learned to keep moving with an emphasis on fueling and hydrating constantly and walking fast when running seems impossible. Really, the key is to not give my body the chance to enter recovery/healing mode. Caffeine can be a help too. Did I mention keep moving?
Great to see you at Bramham Anna, I have done solo at Endure twice, beaten by lack of prep in 2019 and by the thunderstorm in 2021, I did it in a team this year and enjoyed it more, I now don't feel the need to get to 100 miles but it is a great endeavour to do once in your life
game plan for a 24 hour race: sit on the settee and watch anna do it :) i'm out on a 14 hour bike ride tomorrow so not as tough as what Anna has done but for me it's going to be a killer, btw great job Anna thoroughly enjoyed the video.
I’ve run an 8 hr and 24 hr lap race. Both were really inclusive for the reasons you point out Anna. Love them for that. Unless at the pointy end of the race then it really is a case of pick your own goal. I achieved 100 miles in my 24 hr race - short stops every lap & one 10 minute snooze. Coffee at midnight was the best! Backyard ultra style will take it to a whole new level of toughness.
Fantastic effort Anna!! My club took part in the Spitfire Scramble 24 hour event last weekend (I’ve done it once before) and it is TOUGH!! I ran 2 laps with friends to give them some company but I was very happy to go home and shower!! Huge kudos to you!! 🤩🤩🤩
I just signed up for my first official half marathon.. May only be 2 hours but feels like 24+ and both 30 minutes at the same time. I'm so excited and you guys' tips really help!
Guess... 18. Wait, that's almost 100 miles! OK, 12. Congratulations!! You did incredible, and with your normal wonderful attitude! You made the right choice with your planter fasciitis. 50 miles is amazing! I'm headed into a 12 hour next weekend, and still have lingering pain in mine. I love this style of race, I always bring a comfy chair to relax in when needed. It's a great way to do marathons/ultras, because you don't have to worry about getting lost, the aid stations are full of good food and energy, and any support crew can see you often without driving!
What a great footage🤩. Congratulations on your performance🥳. I never was inspired to go for a marathon way to far. But this could definitely be one for the bucket list.
The atmosphere looks amazing! Can’t wait to see you smash this Anna! I would have thought they’d lit up the course a bit more at night - were they expecting people not to run in the dark?
We think that’s part of the challenge, ultra marathons often don’t have lights throughout the course and you have to reply on your own torch/supplies to get you through
This looks very fun, I've got a road marathon in 2023, then I'm going to do some trail events either marathon distance or less. Then 2024 is the year I start doing some ultras, this looks like a fun one! Brecon to Cardiff will be my first one because it's fairly early in the year and I feel like one on home soil should be my first ultra. :)
Well done Anna! Great video and has deffo inspired me to try a 24 hour. I did my first ultra this year and I now have some more on my list that I want to try and was thinking what to do next year. Might have to be this one!
After my friend ran 78 hours on Endure24 this year and my other friend a few years ago 55 miles and you the lovely Anna. I am inspired to do Endure solo next year to run the 100k I want to do.
To answer your question, yes I have 2018 and 2019. I did well, but thought I could’ve done better on each one. In 2018, I came in third with 87 miles when I could’ve done 100+ like I did in 2019 but didn’t because I felt I little too depleted and once I received aid didn’t even try to go back out and finish stopping 20 hours 30 minutes in. In 2019, after running a 2:59 marathon just six days before the race, I finished yes I did it finished. Due to the short turnaround recovery time between the marathon and the 24 hour race, I didn’t feel comfortable at all the first 33 miles or six hours, I was struggling and spent the next nine hours walking(36 more miles). After 17 hours and 79 miles in, I figured that I wasn’t going to win or make 100+ miles, so I started to run again and not only finished with 108 miles, I won the entire race by 7 miles.
I actually tore my Planter Fascia about 10 yrs ago on a routine training run. I had no idea what the hell happened, but I heard the pop, and it felt like someone slapped the sole of my left foot with a 2X4. Great job Anna!
@@runningchannel about 3 months in all, until it felt right. Crutches & boot the PT to heal, more PT, and exercises to strengthen. Also moved from neutral to Stability shoes.
Totally in awe of people who manage to get up and run again after a night's sleep! Had to get my miles done first as I knew I wouldn't want to run again after I woke up!
I always love to watch you race, Anna! Great run! My very first ever race was actually a backyard ultra (only a couple of months ago) and while I only did six laps (which at least made me avoid a „DNF“ status as per the rules), I absolutely enjoyed the format. It's not only a test for endurance, but even more for tactics. Would love to see you give it a try. 🙂

@@runningchannel I am doing the best I can. Although, I am not running at the moment as I have health issues caused by covid. I am only walking on the treadmill and holding onto the bars for safety reasons.
I’ve done three 24 hour races. I’m 65 years old and did 100 miles last year. As you say, a key factor is mental strength not physical. Maintain the discipline of keeping to your scheduled breaks but no more. I rested for 10 minutes every 2 laps then got up and got out however slow the running might be.
Its good to see I am not the only one who cannot count and exercise at the same time. The worst is swimming, but I've also done an extra lap on race day. :D
Never run for that length of time, my plan would be to just not stop moving. Even when eating and drinking just keep walking. Maybe jog for 30 minutes zone 2 walk for 30 minutes all the time. I would probably cover the first hour just over 1 lap and get slower afterwards, as I know it is a long time. It is all about how much you are going to push yourself and maintain fuel sodium and potassium. Think I would be lucky to last 2 hours right now as not trained for those distances or times, but if all else fails I would just keep walking, think if my shoes are good I can manage that. Might set myself a 60 mile target. But expect my feet to be destroyed and think it will be 20 hours 95% walking, with down hill running. Would honestly be happy to cover the time regardless of distance. (3mph walking which I do walk faster than) Truth be told, I don't think I would ever enter the event. So probably all talk from me. You have smashed it and that is a great amount of endurance, just pushing for all that time is a major achievement.
Totally extraordinary Anna! Yeah, I would take on a challenge like this but only with totally extraordinary Anna by my side. I would need that fountain of endurance and inimitable grit by my side to make it to the end.
Omg I just had to say how funny I found that, about figuring out the hrs 😂😂 I do exactly the same when I’m trying to figure out parking permits when I visit my Mum n dads house sooo funny 😂😂
