Ok cool, first before I start a conversation here. I'd like to say that both companies are great. Yeah Klipsch horns are harsh but from my experience you just have to fine tune your speakers to get more accurate sound and lets be honest here guys not all speakers are the same. I went through a number of speaker companies including SVS and I went ahead and went with Klipsch. I have all my speakers hooked up to a crown amp on my Yamaha receiver. I use the manual PEQ to measure and tune the frequencies of each of my speakers. The sound is really up to you and who ever you end up with thats what you like. Klipsch = High sensitivity vs SVS = Mid Sensitivity. Your ears are yours and what they say is what you get. My two cents guys.
If you do this kind of comparison in the future I would advice you to record both and then cut them together so that you switch between them a few times. It makes comparison a lot easier.
I love my SVS speakers! I actually have the same Klipsch center speaker for the very reason you talk about in the video. The tweeter sound is more piercing with Klipsch speakers. I wanted that for my dialogue speaker, but not for the rest. Too harsh on my ears. I have all SVS except a Logan Martin Dynamo 1000w subwoofer, but plan to add an SVS PB2000 sub very soon.
They both have lines that are comperable. SVS has satellite line to the refernce line. The primes for the reference premiere and the ultras for the Refernce flagship series.
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude ever tried the Elevation speakers as a Top Middle setting on the receiver.. and place either speaker in the middle of the room opposite each other on the side walls? I've read on forums that yields an amazing result as it fills the room more.
Svs is better overall mainly because of the mounting options and I prefer the tweeter to be at the sharpest angle down. Sound quality is more of the blurred line here. Atmos has around 120-150hz cut off as default. As a height speaker little to no information is encoded below that. Sound is subjective. I can easily say Paradigm is better than SVS and the next guy will say my Monolith 365 set wins.
Wow I think we have the same front channel. I started out with the Klipsch 140sa for atmos but upgraded to the SVS Primes, they are much better especially since they can be ceiling mounted. I have 4 SVS Prime Elevations mounted to my ceiling they sound awesome.
The SVS speaker is too soft for me, and I don’t need bass coming from my height speakers or Atmos speaker Trying to add midbass to your height, speakers, or bookshelf speakers at the same time using a subwoofer, make music and other content, sounds weak and unbalanced to me The klipsch elevation or height speakers are just right for me compared with SVS subwoofers it’s a match made for Home in attainment especially when you calibrate them and set them up right do not have a problem with piercing ears. They sound awesome.
I’ll take the Klipsch. I don’t think that was a good choice of a song for a comparison. Both sound great but I think u should do a comparison with a variety of music. My opinion tho.
Corri, If you find some good music that is TH-cam safe (copyright free) let me know and I will redo it. That was the only sond I cam accross that had good bass and decent highs. Electronic music probably not the best, but hey
That Home Theater Dude They both sound great do get me wrong. I’m just starting out as well. My system is not as great as yours but we all gotta start somewhere. Lol. Just subscribed. Good content tho.
Thanks Corri. Its tough putting music in my videos cause i'll get demonitized. SO i stick to movies. Let me know if you need help or advice. Im an amazon and svs affiliate so I can help you with buying.
Great video again! I really like the way the tweeter sounded on the SVS Prime Elevation! I also like the mid frequency. I, like you, the more I see videos of SVS products on TH-cam, the more I'm impressed by them! My speakers days might be numbered!
2 questions....I know you said svs is more all around speaker. But for main use as a height speaker watching movies, which one is better? Can the svs be use as an up firing speaker or its only intend to be mounted on the wall. Also can you do a review of which has more realism watching movies when use as an up firing.
that video has been done. svs can be used as upwards firing. if you listen to ceiling bounce atmos as compared to front heights or in ceiling there is a clear difference. Ceiling bounce is the least immersive atmos configuration. go with heights or hanging from ceiling. Test it yourself though
You need to put the speakers in the same position of your room and stand in the same place to get an accurate read on bass and highs if you're going to do a review as sound bounces off walls differently based on how you place your speakers and where you're receiving the waves from.
Hey Chris from home theater dude how would def tech d9 compare to svs prime bookshelf or bowers and Wilkins 600 series or 700 series love ur demos by d way
To compare their audio characteristics. I know they are supposed to bounce off the ceiling. I plan on redoing the video with all 3 configurations for best comparrison.
That Home Theater Dude. I have a system also...actually 2 one in my basement and one in my living room would love to make videos....but i just stick to watch you guys im thinking about upgrading my onkyo 1030 to denon 8400...i had a denon 4300 when my onkyo was being repaired...didnt really like the sound compared to my onkyo but this denon looks like its bulit with power any thoughts cause i see you have a denon
the 8500 is a 13 channel monster from denon. I havent used it yet, but maybe I could do a demo with one soon. I liked my denon 6300 cause it had 11 channels out of the box and 140w "each" Pros and cons of the 6300 pro: its made in japan has 11 channels without using external amplifiers and has atmos/ dts-x and you can upgrade to auro 3d. Sound is flat and effortless. Cons, they run hot to the touch. They have 11 channels so heat would be expected. Everyone just buys the aircom t8 for theirs to keep it nice and cool. Anything lower than the 6300 like the 4300 3400 are made in vietnam. Not japanese quality. user interface takes a little getting used to. I have onkyo, yamaha and denon hooked up to the same speakers and the denon is the clear winner. Sound it tight and expressive without distortion. You ever wanna upgrade AV receivers let me know. i can send you a link on amazon and you can help support the channel by making your amp purchase on amazon. If thats something you wanna do let me know. Cheers buddy. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
I like those yamahas but i love the denon. You get so much more with the denon. It comes down to personal preference though. Yammy sound is really good but the denon has auro 3d.... Depends on whats important to you. Cant go wrong with any of those though. This is my second denon coming from yamaha and it is a great performer
how have you set that up? I've a Denon X2400H receiver and a old Sony 940DB receiever but only works in stereo now..and I've a Celestion Dolby Surround Processor.. I'd love to connect them all up so I can have 7.1.4. Is it even possible?
Well since the are both being played through my pc speakers they sound the same. Also, Atmos speakers should be aimed at the ceiling, not straight ahead
Yes greg I know the speaker placement. this was just to compare the sound between the two. I will do another video when they are both mounted on the wall down firing. I have alreay made a video to move them to the wall mount cause the ceiling bounce effects were perceived minimal at most.
Cool. Yeah obviously in celings are the best placement for heights, but not everyone has that option. I would but I have a room right above my living room. Thats why I played with the placment of the speakers. I used the atmos manual as a reference for speaker placement.
GREAT comparison. You clearly have the Klipsch Atmos modules which are designed to reflect sound off the ceiling UPSIDE DOWN. They are TOP FIRING, not front firing. This "comparison" is meaningless.
f072605def1c9a5ef179-a0bc3fbf1884fc0965506ae2b946e1cd.ssl.cf2.rackcdn.com/product-manuals/Reference-Premiere-Speakers-Manual.pdf Klipsch says you can mount both ways. Look at page 8 and page 9. I know they are preferred to be celing bounced. but if you have ever heard these with the ceiling bounce the sound recreation is minimal. If you Go to a dolby cinema the speakers arent set up to bounce off the ceiling. They have 30 speakers above your head. If you change the settings in your AVR from dolby speakers to heights there is no problem when you change the speaker placement.
That Home Theater Dude I believe what Voice of Reason was trying to say was the speaker itself was upside down like you showed in the previous video how you simply can't turn it 180° due to it's design. As in the tweeter should of been on the top? That's what I understand from this. Sure they should be upfiring, but in this demonstration as you specifically pointed out your own flaws that you did on purpose you were only demonstrating the product sound itself, not how it actually works in a real ATMOS scenario.
I have svs ultra bookshelf speakers on 4" risers on my desk, and a 12" sub. They sound like I paid $5000 for the system. I have klipsch reference for my HT, but the svs ultra towers are much more refined. The SVS have more dimension and natural smoothness. The midrange is cleaner on the ultra as well. Bottom line? The klipsch are a good "loud" for HT, but they have harsh shortcomings.
Agree 100%. SVS is the underdog and its painfull unnderrated. Klipsch gets the popularity cause it been around longer and has those cool looking speakers. I like em too So this klipsch vs SVS battle gonna be alot of fun.
That Home Theater Dude hi dude I'm currently living in hk act .. I love to get a sb4000 but hk houses are tiny so I guess I'll try to get sb2000 or pb2000..
Klipsch has more treble, maybe too much but the SVS prime has too little and comes out sounding dull. There has to be another speaker that sits right in the middle of these two. One that is warmer then klipsch but not as dark/veil as the SVS.
I've heard klipsch in person but not exactly this model, bookshelf version to be more exact so I have to assume its similar to these height channels but it was also a few years ago so you might have a newer model since what I heard was out for demonstrations at a local store, so I'm using what I remember from that as a reference point. Sadly that store does not have SVS speakers though but I think you are getting what I am getting at to come to this assumption.
Vasilis Savvidis I have heard great things about velodyne but I have beaver heard it in person. I really like my subwoofer. Great power and nice definition.

SVS hands down. More balanced overall, better lows, clearer highs, and more dynamic too.
I have to give the edge to the prime elevation speakers. Sounded fuller and more natural. Both sound really good though.
My thoughts exactly Brian.
