    Hi HTD.
    Im mounting these on my ceiling right now. What I'm thinking is if I should be mounting these with a "toe in" towards the listening position. I.e. at the right width but with the speaker angled inwards a bit. Unsure about this.

    • @ThatHomeTheaterDude
      @ThatHomeTheaterDude  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s what I did. I would recommend it.

      @@ThatHomeTheaterDude That's what I ended up doing. Straight facing just didnt feel natural when mounting.
      I angled them slightly and it turned out really well. Now I just have to find another pair for the rear channel ;)

    When mounting to the ceiling, only two of the screws will be able to hit a joist. What did you use for the other two? Drywall anchors, toggles, molly?

    Hey! If you side mount this up on your walls you will get the same over the head effects like when you have in ceiling over the head speakers or you will perceive the sound coming more from the sides and not really over the head?

    • @ThatHomeTheaterDude

      As an update, I tried then in the side walls and overhead. They sound better on the side walls. Only problem now is that I can’t get the AVR to display Atmos. It’s only showing Dolby. I’m sure there is a setting that I am missing somewhere between the 4K blue ray and the avr. I’ve tried 4K Mad Max and 4K Star Wars and the Atmos demo on Vudu.

    What about the mounting magnetic for the ceiling? Do you still need to order that separately or do they come with them now? I did not see an option to choose them when I ordered mine a couple of days ago. I guess I will find out tomorrow. But if you ask me they should be included with every box.

    Do any of the screws need to go through a stud or studs? Or can the drywall hold the speaker weight ok?

    • @ThatHomeTheaterDude
      @ThatHomeTheaterDude  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ideally yes you want them through studs. However, you can use wall anchors. I used them for my heights and the stuff I hang from the ceiling. They leave a bigger hole to fill once you remove them from the wall if you ever do. but they can hold tons of weight.

    I just wnant to say thank yoiu for itrodcucing me to he svs primes. i have trhe kilpsch rf7iii in front with r 64iii and put the RP280FA with upfiing for back surrounds and two ceiling speakers. I think i already mentioned that to you but man after doing the calibration with the Marantz sr7012 running 7.2.4 with the Parasound A52+, man was i mssing on a lot. I iitterally went back and watched movies again that i watched previously becuase i could hear everything so balanced. The sound goes and flows where its supposed to be and makes it way more immeresed. I love klipsch and will never change them, but the SVS Prime beats their Atmos by a lot. Even watching regular TV is different now lol. I can count with one hand how many guys are like you doing this for the love of it but mainly for people to benefit and not waste money on things they dont know about and learn everything they need from you. Question if you would like to add 4 prime elevations to a 5.1 system to make it 5.1.4 for Dolby Atmos what is the placement options and settings on the AVR for denon because some placement options don’t work for Dolby Atmos ?

    • @ThatHomeTheaterDude
      @ThatHomeTheaterDude  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are settings for ceiling bounce speakers. Heights or in ceiling speakers or any combination of those. Its pretty versatile

    • @MYSTICKNIGHT23
      @MYSTICKNIGHT23 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That Home Theater Dude haha yeah I understand that but if I add 2 front height speakers and 2 surround heights speakers apparently that configuration is not comparable with Dolby Atmos placement however for DTS X and Auro 3D it’s fine so with that setup you can’t get Dolby Atmos unless you change it from amp assign to 2 rear height speakers from surround height. But doing so would that still give you accurate sound or not as it’s Object based.

    • @ThatHomeTheaterDude
      @ThatHomeTheaterDude  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MYSTICKNIGHT23 I need to double check in the settings. But i think rear surrounds and the 4 heights works great for object based sound. i wouldnt take the rear surrounds out if I had a choice. The atmos manual is more of a guide. You can enjoy all the formats equally if you set them up according to the atmos setup. You only need to add a voice of god for auro and you are set up for all of them. I use auro codec for Tv. I like how it upmixes anything to overhead sounds.

  • @garykarczewski6678
    @garykarczewski6678 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question, I have been reaching out to speaker manufactures as per upgrading my whole system and all have suggested to timber match to your front LCR. Thoughts as per these speakers working with other makes, and models? I am considering all SVS and even SVS stated demo the fronts first and if SVS is your choice for fronts then get the matching surrounds. It seems many are adding these with Klipsch or other brand LCR though. Curious on your take on that?

    • @ThatHomeTheaterDude
      @ThatHomeTheaterDude  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with matching the LCR. So if you're thinking about the ultras I would do that everyday of the week. If you would like to save cost I would recommend pairing the Ultra front stage with prime bookshelfs, surrounds, and elavations. But if you want to do a different Brand then they will play nice with them too. The tweeters make them compatible with many other speakers. When did you want to make the switch?

    Hey home dude..I spoke to you about this before (it think anyway). Lol .my room I 12/12 /10..The only two height options that I have are..(2 speakers) in the front above tv and mains.Or on either side of the couch on the walls up high. What do you think is the best option.. i’d rather have them pointing on each side of my sofa for better overhead sound. But then, I believe they will be out of Dolby’s Recommendations..

    Hey Home theater dude, do you feel like the back height surround are worth the extra cost for the whole setup? I have a drop ceiling in my living room that lets me do inceiling middle height channel. I was thinking of doing 7.2.2 , but I read somewhere that Dolby recommends 5.2.4 over 7.2.2. Is the 4 height channels used as often to give up surround backs?

    • @ThatHomeTheaterDude
      @ThatHomeTheaterDude  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree about the 5.2.4. If you wanna get the most out of atmos then this is the best route granted you are willing to give up your rear surrounds. the rear surrounds are under utilized in most cases any ways. You already have the in celings which is good. Go full atmos until you can upgrade your reciever. Plus since the atmos channels are usually smaller speakers, they wont draw as much wattage from the AVR like rear surrounds would.

    Thank you HTD! I love audio and HT and your videos are very informative for a novice who is always seeking improvement to my system. I just ordered these same speakers in gloss white but have a few questions after you have done some evaluation of these speakers. One do you feel they are a necessary improvement from other speaker choices such as commercial over head ceiling speakers which can focus like Klipsch, Proficient Audio or Dayton Audio? I have a election friend who feels these maybe over kill for Atmos and or Surrounds and there are far less expensive solutions that will provide excellent results. However I have no idea how true that is being I have nothing to compare. I am looking forward to hearing these this week and will post my evaluation in your comments. Thanks again.

    • @ThatHomeTheaterDude
      @ThatHomeTheaterDude  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im just going to say this . get a speaker and listen to it open air. That means no box or enclosure and play some music or watch a quick clip. How does it sound? Then listen to the dynamics and clarity you get from a bookshelf speaker in an enclosure. i understand that putting speakers in the ceiling is perferred by most but there is a reason why people are giving these prime elevations more attention. try them out and see if you like them. If you feel like you could have a better sound solution for cheaper, let me know. Hope that helps. I didnt see your purchase over on my end though. I think you'll be really pleased with your speakers

      SVS has my full attention right now. I knew their subs were top notch, but I never gave any concideration to their speakers until i heard them in person. They are some of my favorites at the moment! Which speakers were you interested in?

      That Home Theater Dude either 260s or 280s v SVS Prime or Ultras

      @ThatHomeTheaterDude  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have had the ultras for a few days and I have been playing them non stop. The sound recreation from them is just all around better. If I were you I would seriously look into the Ultras. Dont forget to click my links to take you to the SVS website, They wont know I helped ya if you dont use those. Let me know what you decide. I'll put out more videos this week to compare against Klipsch!

    Why dont you put your speakers on the spikes??!? You lost a lot of good bas without them and virtual space. I Used to have set of rp260 and next rp280 with NAD amp and they show their power on bass standing on the spikes

    Your previous video has been deleted, what was your reaction , when i ask you , are you going to get rid of the Klipsch .. or are you going to use the svs for just 90 days as a demo? 😆 Nice setup you get now 🤑

      Some one flagged it as being "inappropriate" I have put in an appeal. We will see if it gets put back up. I dont curse, im never naked, and I dont show guns on my channel. I think it will get reversed. Im pretty steamed about it though.
