I own the Hoover and swear by it. The hand nozzle helped to get a Goodwill plush sofa look brand new! That Hoover got my hallway super clean and wine stains out. I used my sprayer for the windows, but will use it for the carpet in the future. Thank You for that tip.
You are the second person I've watched to use the sprayer. It makes total sense and I've been doing it all wrong for too long. Thanks for the great tips!
Just adding my two cents here as a car detailer - using the carpet shampoo chemical in an external sprayer vs putting it in the machine is top notch advice 👏👏👏 THAT is the way to clean carpets, whether in a home or car. Never put the chemical in the machine. Only warm tap water. As you mentioned this method allows the chemical to dwell on the carpets being cleaned, but also makes cleaning your machine easier (and prolongs its life) as the chemical is only in the pickup tank vs being sprayed from the unit then sucked back up, making cleaning the residue out of the machine more difficult. Good video 👍
So spray it down with the shampoo mixture from a separate sprayer, then use the carpet cleaner just to rinse and suck up the water? ...Even if the carpet cleaner manual says put the shampoo in the tank with the water? Mine has fill lines for both on the water tank...still better to just spray from a separate sprayer? I'm a little confused
@@kgpierce1231 Yes, buy a pressure sprayer and mix the shampoo solution with water and then mist it down on the carpet. Pressure sprayers are cheap and cost around $20 at home depot. I use a 2 gallon one. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then run the carpet cleaner with only water in it. An additional benefit of this is that it will get all of the soup solution out of the carpet so it has less of a tendency to get dirty quicker. If you haven't noticed already, residual soap on the carpet attracts dirt more easily.
I had a carpet cleaning company for over a decade, and I learned the best way to truly clean a rug without it wicking or burning was to pre-spray with a pump sprayer and run only clean water with a little citric acid in my tank. I never pumped chemical through my machine, not even for pet odors. The more you soak that rug, the wetter the pad is going to become, and that is what causes browning and burning. Pre-spraying and then doing a quick clean water extraction over the top was the best way every single time and the rug stay clean longer. Think about it when you wash your hair do you rinse your hair with soapy water? Of course not and neither should you do the same with your rug.
As a professional carpet cleaner for over a decade, I completely agree with everything said in this video. It was very informative, and I love the idea of using a pump sprayer. I've always advised people to clean their carpets with water and a splash of vinegar. I will now add the pump sprayer suggestion for future inquiries. Just be sure to check the humidity levels before opening all the windows; high humidity can prolong the drying time. Great video!
I love the little green machine! It's great to clean rugs with, well most rugs. There's a large rug my mom loved but I was allergic to it. Very thin fibers, but packed thickly and it wasn't flat where it had designs. Was impossible to clean.
Brandon your presentations are exceptional. Your videos are motivating in that you make cleaning less mundane and more interesting. I have tried many of your techniques and noone else holds a candle to your system and advice for doing things.
In Germany, carpet floor is not that usual! We are moving to a new house and in all the bedrooms is a carpet floor. I bought already a carpet wet vacuumer and hopefully, I will get everything clean! We are moving there in October - so I will buy some stuff until then 🙈
Finally did my carpeted stairs with your recommend tips and the Zep cleaner/hoover and bissell little green. Took 2 hours but worth it! They look great-so much forbidden chocolate milk dumped out!🤣Thanks for your excellent videos, they are very helpful and my son and I both enjoy watching them.👍
Hello, Brandon. Could you make a short video if possible on how you clean this hoover machine. The vaccum cleaner deep clean video has been greatly helpful.
Btw, there's a nation wide recall on a Bissell steamer. We got alerted last month because we have one. I can understand the reason, it nearly happened to us, I was smart and put on oven mitts. -It's not a full refund, but there's online instore credit, or the regular way of getting a refund, but you get less back.
@@sweetlady6059 the Bissell Steam Shot is what's been recalled, and they already stopped selling it. The recalled models of it, they tell us to fill out the form (online, their website), chose which refund we want, submit it, and once our form has been confirmed that they have recieved it which they will send an email to let us know, then we do the next steps to disable the product. We have to carefully take off the sticker off the bottom, place it under the Bissell logo on the side, and cut the cord ONLY after you get the confirmation email from them, and if you happen to still have its box, place it into the box and then...... I forgot. There's a limited time to get the refund, but there's still a couple of months left to get it done.
This is how I was taught by a professional carpet cleaner when I use my bissell at home. Just did my living room after a roomba/dog poo incident (oh no!) and it looks beautiful and got a lot of stuff up… only 2 weeks after a professional cleaning!
This is awesome! Ok so we’d just gotten new carpet (top of the line, very expensive). We’d gone out on an errand and our normally well behaved dog got up on our counter and pulled down 4 lbs of frozen raw dog food which she proceeded to eat. Then apparently had an upset tummy and went in our master closet and produced a nice load of diarrhea right on the new carpet. My husband and I argued about how to clean it. He ended up wiping it up (which dug it into the fibers) and then used a carpet cleaner. To this day, there is still a light stain. There’s not much info on how to get this kind of mess off your carpet. Have you ever talked about this? Thanks for all of your great informative videos! ❤️
You can buy a lighted magnifying glass to inspect the fibers. If the fibers themselves are stained, you'll most likely have to replace that patch of carpet. If the fibers aren't stained you will want to grab a cheap pump sprayer, load with with carpet solution (properly diluted) and soak the area. Let it dwell for at least 10 minutes then extract with a carpet extractor and clean water. In the worse situations you may need to grab a drill powered brush to really dig in after spraying solution down as some extractors don't let you run it without vacuuming at the same time. My Hoover has an extension hose port that I flip open to prevent vacuuming up the solution when I need to really scrub an area prior to extraction.
Natures Miracle Advanced Stain & Odor Removal, the red bottle. Spray it down, cover it with a damp towel and let it sit 24hrs. Come back and use your extraction machine after applying slightly more product. You can also try using Resolve Pet Expert Heavy Traffic Foam Cleaner with a brush before using the extraction machine, but definitely try the natures miracle, it’s been a wonder in my household of senior dogs and mischievous cats.
I have that same carpet vac. We've had it maybe 4 yrs now. There's 1 problem, the soap solution leaks through that screwed on cover near the bottom. I went through the manual, couldn't find anything about that screwed on cover, or I over looked it. *One day I decided to put the soap container in and then go upstairs, then I saw the trail 😬 I tried to plug it in as quickly as I could but as the seconds went by, it left a puddle on the carpet (short compact carpet). The soap container, near empty. I used the type of soap that originally came with that vac. The little free bottle of soap. The bag they provide is very helpful though. At least the water tank, and dirty water tank don't leak. I suspect a clog because the soap solution doesn't come out where it's supposed to. And the power cord placement is not in an ideal location. I haven't had any shocks or felt any static build up, so that good.
Glad you finally got that shot of the dirty water in this new video! Do you think agitation after applying the cleaning solution is an effective step, or does it not do much?
Yeah, I used to use those carpet shampoo beasts too. They weigh about 2 metric tons when the tanks are full, which you’re either emptying or refilling about every 3min. 😣 I threw it away and bought a carpet extractor attachment for my shop vac (Amazon). It has FAR more suction and much better extraction. It’s lighter, easier, faster, and more effective. The lack of bristle rollers doesn’t seem to make a difference, but I might pick up a little floor buffer with spinning brushes one of these days. 🤔
Love your videos, but it was a bit unclear to me where in the process you are treating the pet stains? Are you doing that before or after using the Zep carpet cleaner?
Bingeing on your vids, and my shopping list of cleaning supplies that I suddenly need is getting longer and longer. 😂 Just added “pump sprayer”! Our carpet is terrible. 😣
After postponing the carpet cleaning for some time, the Universe just slaps me in the face with your video 😂 I'm gonna do it! I also have the same Hoover Smartwash (mine is purple color), it also has a built-in sprayer for spot treatment, which I never tried🤔 I have the Carpet Miracle cleaner and I pour it in the cleaner container(is separate from water tank). Do you use it like that or you always clean the way you showed in the video? Thank a lot and wish you a wonderful weekend! 😊
