I've been playing this game these days and it's an absolutely fantastic game. Give you what you need, no more, no less. A fun game, with cool npc's and a fantastic big map that has a really good aesthetic and a wonderfull exploration system. 10/10
Man, so glad I've found this TH-camr. Now I'm home! pre ordered and my body is ready! 20 years of wait ... It's amazing! I remember playing Outcast around 2001 on a poor monitor with built in speakers in probably 480p, I was blown away back then! The music alone is on par with the work of John Williams ffs!!! In 2018 I played second contact on PS4 pro in glorious 1440p, 5.1 Dolby digital and today I'm here waiting for A new beginning to play in HDR 10, 12.1 Surround and in glorious 2160p! I cannot believe I live in a world where Outcast got a sequel as well as Flashback., please god now give me a sequel to Project Firestart and I can finally return to my home planet! Great Sunday treat of another under moons video on Outcast. Couple things....1 soo want that video on outcast lost paradise! 2 you soo need to do a video on all the changes to cutters face from the first to second contact to the new beginning constant changes haha. Love your video!
haha, Yeah think like maybe come April 15th? I might release it? I'll check with the higher ups as I want to make sure it's alll good. And the Many faces of Cutter is definitely gonna be some fun post release content haha
I'm playing A New Beginning now, still have my copy of the original 1999 game and it's perfectly intact. It's in my top 3 of best PC games ever, alongside Anachronox and Deus Ex. They definitely don't make 'm like that anymore....!!
my guess is this is a sequel for cutter and a prequel for adelpha - the robots being "the ancients" of the first game, and the open world being broken up at the end to form the first game islands (just a theory - based on familiarity of areas in the demo and the "beginning" in the title)
Oooo that’s fun! I like that. Although the presence of Maar in the trailers seemingly older and talking about Cutter in the past tense makes me think otherwise 🤔 but who knows! Can’t wait to start the game up and find out.
@@UnderTheMoons I had thought about that, but Maar doesn't appear in any of the gameplay and he seems to be running some sort of museum, so maybe he is telling "a story of old" and serves as the narrator.
As someone who just discovered this series and wants to enjoy the first game before experiencing A New Beginning, should I play 1.1 or Second Contact? They're both under $2 on Steam currently. Great video btw!
It more so comes down to you. The original Outcast is the full original experience, feels and moves like a game from 1999. Outcast Second Contact helps bring the movement and menu system to a more modern light. Like in Second Contact you can sprint, the original only has one movement speed. In terms of enjoyment, Second Contact is still very much the same Game warts and all, so it the same experience when it comes to feeling like an older game. So it’s down to you, if you want the original experience or something a more prettier and easy to steer 😂
@@UnderTheMoons A big difference between 1.1 and Second Contact lies in the beginning of the games. Second Contact doesn't have the beautiful intro movie, and instead relies on a very poor recreation of it in which the mouths of the characters don't even move. So in my opinion you should definitely watch the original intro movie before playing Second Contact. Furthermore, there's something really special about the combination of voxels in 1.1 and the brilliant music score in the game. Other than that, Second Contact plays a lot better control wise. Bottom line: play them both, they're both worth it....!!! ;-) ;-)
Absolutely! The game is very much focused on this being as approachable as possible. The nice thing is you can always go backwards to the older game but It’s not going to hold you back from enjoying A New Beginning.
@@UnderTheMoons I would say, try and play one of the originals first. After that, you'll appreciate the new game a lot more, especially story-wise. There are a lot of references to the old game, it's great to understand them once you've played the old game.
I love this world and series but my main complaint about the new game is it Ubisoft style open world. It did not need all the tower capturing that are in Ubisoft games. I really wish they didn't do that.. As stated it's way too expensive no one is going to take a chance on a game like this for that price. This should have been a 39 Dollar game.
