The dominion moved too quickly and too aggressively, everything was rolled back on them shortly after gaining it. Heh. I think they just meant to occupy the frequencies, but people forget computers in Trek world could probably counteract that if they were using radio and someone noticed. I thought it was some irony there though, cause some years ago I had a roleplaying character that had been at the liberation of Benzar. (It went down rather differently in whatever sources and embellishments I was using, and if I recall, there Benzar was occupied rather longer, and it was a bit more like retaking the Philippines after most of the Japanese Navy was out, also the Benzites had more to do with it, cause they seem like peeps that plan everything before they drop the hammer, which is a fairly good way to be if occupied. ) ...and that character's attack plane squadron had a history of razzing the Breen in particular with 'Ballroom Blitz' by Sweet as a sort of calling card. So, Venom's story seemed to interestingly hit on familiar beats to what I'd largely imagined.
One minor correction and man am I an need for knowing this but Picard was briefly on a Romulan D'deridex warbird [The Haakona] on the episode Contagion S2E11 when he steps through the Iconian portal and end up on their ship.
Kind of silly that Radio was their only plan for back up communications. If the ships are all in orbit and line of sight they could have just used laser communication which is possible with today’s technology. Their plans to disrupt communication would have been a cool tactic for long range comms but making it a tactic for short range when the battle is in one place with no light delay was a bit silly.
My eyes got a bit wet at the end, must have been some space debris... I always wondered how the interaction/coordination between the Allies went in practice. This felt like one of the very best DS9 multiepisodes because of the combination of war tactics/strategies and the personal component of Picard/Tomalak/Sayaran/Cardassian sentiments and realizations. With such great storytelling and true understanding of the Romulan soul, you should write a book (or a dozen).
That vorta is one complete madman. But the Federation ain't going to take that sitting down with Benzar being taken by the Dominion. So the Federation with the help of the Klingons and Romulans will take it back.
The more I think about it, the more it beggars my imagination how even Picard could convince the Klingons to take orders from a Romulan Navarch! I mean, I don't doubt Picard can do it. Diplomacy is his thing, after all. I'm just trying to imagine myself as the writer for this theoretical episode of TV and I don't even know what kind of arguments Picard could use to get through to them. 😬
It's worth bearing in mind that the klingons had fought the federation more recently than the romulans. The romulans had actually kept their hands pretty clean the past few years.
@@venomgeekmedia9886 True, but the Klingons have learned to respect the Federation over the years. The Romulans, on the other hand, have ALWAYS been the "honorless, untrustworthy cowards" to the Klingons for the last several generations.
@@venomgeekmedia9886 In orbit, well out the way of civilian centers. Anti matter is super dangerous given it's used as a primary fuel source in this universe so they must be manufacturing it in massive quantities. To give it some context, 1Kg of that stuff is about the equivalent of the Tzar bomb.
One criticism, which I think is justified, leveled at STAR TREK ONLINE is that they bring in established and beloved Trek characters at every turn, unrealistically so, straining immersion in the story. I was thinking of that when you had the summit between Picard, Tomolok, the Klingon general, and Admiral Fulton. Fulton and the Klingon are your characters right? As is the lucky Vorta? I applaud your appeal to realism via balance
Interesting take, though a lot of it, especially the ground actions, seemed to omit the fact Benzar clearly has a rather different atmosphere. (And most of the people apparently live in 'Geostructures,' whatever those are. ) (Also people forget a thing about antimatter, namely that it's not like a nuclear chain reaction or a bigger bomb if you have a lot in the same place. Especially in space, without deliberate containment, antimatter might make a very catastrophic boom as far as your starship is concerned, but every single little matter antimatter particle explosion pushes all the reactants *further apart.* So you probably don't get planet-cracking as depicted even in atmosphere, more likely you get a firestorm and probably most of the pressure sending more reactants *up,* than down or sideways. Cause there's fewer reactants and thus less resistance the higher you go. Everything going to the sides pushes energy in all directions, including in and up, blow away the matter to react with, which way does the energy, thus most of the antimatter go. )
I hope the federation learned a valuable lesson about refining antimatter on planetary surfaces. That's the sort of thing that should only be done in space where there's less regular matter for the antimatter to contact even if it does breach containment and destroy the station.
I’m curious: why did you place Benzar (and Bolarus/Bolia) in the “south” of the federation whereas most maps I’ve seen place them in the “north”/“northeast”
I've been going back and rewatching these. I meant to ask when this came out but never did. The group Paris has, is it the same he used back at Torros? I know it makes little difference and a lot has happened between then to now. I just like the idea that because of how well the fleet worked together, and Martok being a bro it'd stay together for the rest of the war. Plus anything that they're willing to risk a Sovereign for you're gonna want some Klingons watching your back. And there's bound to be a song or two sung about the battles.
I don't believe Picard had celebrated this bloody victory. I don't think even Tomalak had. They're soldiers, not bloodthirsty warriors, even though they both know the cost of war. But it is to assume, that they could have shared a traditional glass of wine for diplomatic purposes and to strengthen the Alliance.
This was another brilliantly awesome, compellingly magnificent and marvellously comprehensive new addition to the dominion war battle series. The dominion seem to be losing their ability to see the big picture and plan ahead and are sorely lacking in an overall strategic co-ordinator or diplomatic advisor going forward. As while bold new offensives may seem good on paper, Dominion should be hoarding their resources in south and using them to either pinch off the pocket or hold Betazed, rather than over extending themselves and giving allies chance to take advantage of to strike back. Allowing Allied forces to build up momentum to eventually reverse alot of the dominions gains in the galactic south. Dominion if they had any sense should be trying to get back to the negotiating table and use its territorial gains to achievbe a peace in which all captured cardassian territory is return and maybe gain some territorial concessions in the dmz for returning Betazed and other captured planets in the south.
Kirk's advice. “Don't let them promote you, don't let them transfer you, don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there, you can make a difference.”
Oh there’s a new tier.... I forgot. Damn it Venom, I will not be demoted! Now shut up and take my money!! 🤣 P.S. Again, when I see the D’Deridex with its 75 floors of windows or whatever, I gotta wonder,
If I could I would like to make a small request for future dominion war episodes is that you add in other species cause I find it hard to believe that only the federation, Klingon and later Romulan's fought the Dominion, there had to be at lest one smaller race that made small contributions to ether side.
And of course they would jam communication with Earth music that just so happened to be in their database prior to the engagement. Such a jamming technique can be filtered-out by playing an inverted version of the music (aka: "anti noise"). Of course, with Starfleet being run by idiots, it's no surprise they don't have this technology. What's an even bigger surprise is that the radio signals travelled at the same speed as subspace signals, rather than the much slower, speed of light. Should I be surprised that the Dominion had the radio technology available to them?
If a ship has a quantum and a photon torpedo launcher it can only fire each type in one direction. I dont know for sure but this makes me think thats incorrect. Federation ship torpedo launchers can fire all types of torpedo. Good vid

What I liked about the USS Voyager was that she could punch above her wait when she was lost in the Delta quadrant
When I Battlespace going to cover the Star Wars battles?
Alas probably never. The algorithm doesn't like me breaking with trek.
@@venomgeekmedia9886 Well that stinks. I was looking forward to seeing these episodes.
Benzar & Romatis-3 became a Mariupol-lite incl. AZOW-Stahl
I miss good star trek so much
Don't you really mean, REAL Trek?
I would have really loved to have seen Picard and Tamolak meet as Allies on screen
Goood, well done
Another great one!
As always fantastic 👏
Interesting take, though a lot of it, especially the ground actions, seemed to omit the fact Benzar clearly has a rather different atmosphere. (And most of the people apparently live in 'Geostructures,' whatever those are. )
(Also people forget a thing about antimatter, namely that it's not like a nuclear chain reaction or a bigger bomb if you have a lot in the same place. Everything going to the sides pushes energy in all directions, including in and up, blow away the matter to react with, which way does the energy, thus most of the antimatter go. )
The map of benzar is based on a beta Canon map. And yes other species would presumably need life support equipment.
To say the least, that was great!
I hope the federation learned a valuable lesson about refining antimatter on planetary surfaces. That's the sort of thing that should only be done in space where there's less regular matter for the antimatter to contact even if it does breach containment and destroy the station.
nice work
As soon as I heard Anti matter facility I knew.
A classic Hitchcock time-bomb.
Personally, I'd say the Founder gave the order. After all, they are Only Solids
@@venomgeekmedia9886 no, if we are going down we're taking you with us!
@@weldonwin quite possibly...
I’m curious: why did you place Benzar (and Bolarus/Bolia) in the “south” of the federation whereas most maps I’ve seen place them in the “north”/“northeast”
Jem Hadar always go out like champs!
Uh, I'm not sure Will Wheaton was a Vorta.
Ooofff that's not will Wheaton's face. That's one of my navarchs.

Wonderful work sir. If only the dominion had employed a chorus of can can dancers. ( Paris style) anyone wondering think a Scotsman and his kilt
I can only imagine it. Lol
I like the idea of a Vorta that the other Vorta likely find off.
The Dominion scorched earth tactic is almost as callous as the Imperium of Man (40K)
Cheers
Dominion if they had any sense should be trying to get back to the negotiating table and use its territorial gains to achievbe a peace in which all captured cardassian territory is return and maybe gain some territorial concessions in the dmz for returning Betazed and other captured planets in the south.
what a madman that vorta is
Absolute madlad
Why didn't Captain Picard get promoted to admiral after the Dominion war? Anybody have any idea?
Kirk's advice. “Don't let them promote you, don't let them transfer you, don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there, you can make a difference.”
Oh there’s a new tier.... I forgot. Damn it Venom, I will not be demoted! Now shut up and take my money!! 🤣
P.S. Again, when I see the D’Deridex with its 75 floors of windows or whatever, I gotta wonder,
Wounder what? Is it secretly a flying hotel even better than a galaxy class...
If the Prophets had not aided Sisko, the Dominion War would have been very different.
Why did you change the Marker of the First fleet from a red Marker to a Yellow one?
If I could I would like to make a small request for future dominion war episodes is that you add in other species cause I find it hard to believe that only the federation, Klingon and later Romulan's fought the Dominion, there had to be at lest one smaller race that made small contributions to ether side.
What species did you have in mind?
Well it's up to you
@@venomgeekmedia9886 I'm thinking of the kriosian's. Some what like what happened to the reman's.
Where do you get these stories from? Star Trek novels?
Truly
Good vid
I want my starship to have warp nacelles that glow purple.
Ah, the Ork method of jamming at work. Or perhaps more accurately, Finnish. Interesting little incident of the Winter War, that.
Picard has been aboard a Warbird.
