A video I would really enjoy is a video breaking down the practicality and organization of these effects in real projects. For example, when you are working on a premiere pro project, how do you decide how many scenes will go in one dynamic link? When you have a long video, how do you maximize your workflow when you need to create 50 different dynamic links for several different animations. And how do you decide what’s even worthy of going After Effects vs what you choose to do in Premiere Pro and Davinci. Not really an effects tutorial but it is still interesting to see how you tackle multiple of these crazy effects in one project as efficiently as possible.
So I exclusively edit in Davinci, haven't touched Premiere in like 4 years. Most of the time that decision making process comes down to what I have in mind for each animation. Full screen graphics are typically the longest since they are more complex. I'll typically export the section that is relevant and then animate to that. Sometimes I do extend the animation if I feel like it needs it in order to be clean. I don't want to rush the animation just because I spoke fast. Rather just chop up the clip since it's covered anyways. For text animations I typically do A LOT of smaller sections. But it really just comes down to feel. There's not too much 'strategy' that goes into it outside of not wanting to work with clips that are too long. I'd rather have more pre-comps that are smaller (less layers). It's just more efficient that way especially regarding playback and render times.
Hey Mapal, amazing stuff as usual. Odd question, what's the difference blending mode transition you did at 0:29 called? If there's no name, can you let me know what's the basic steps to achieve? I know it must simple, but it looks so good. Edit: Also, what's the paper material/color, cause I'm trying it using a tattered paper texture i found on google, and the color looks different when use difference blending mode. Edit * 2: I figured something out that looks very similar by playing frame by frame on that part. Would still like to know incase I missed any goodies if you're willing to spill ^
So the difference transition is from a pack from Acidbite. I'd say the reason you're getting a different colour is because even though a picture might look b/w it might have a slight tint to it.
hey mapal, i found everywhere about imperial style motion graphics tutorials but there isn’t any, if you can make one on that it will be helpful, not 3d animation but his ae motion graphics with that 3d stroke.
I can make a tutorial on this, but what do you mean by 3d stroke? Is there a specific video or timestamp Lemmino does a 3d stroke effect but that's in blender with a grease pencil. Haven't seen imperial do it though.
Hey I know! I used Filmotype yale for the cursive text and the rest is actually Artlist's own font - Artlist Sans, which I don't think is publicly available...
You can create whatever palette you want and tinker with it to get the look you want. However, the colorama preset I used in the video is available on my patreon patreon.com/mapal
I just changed the colours for the colorama. I have a colorama preset that is available on my patreon over at patreon.com/mapal otherwise it's always good fun playing around with the colours yourself!
Hey, can you clarify for me why is it important to pre-comp the grain solid instead of just using it on top with overlay mode? I always use it without pre-comping and I'm not sure what's the difference. Thanks!
Hey mapal, always love the content you provide. I've been longing to support you for a long time. Could you add a paypal payment method for us without proper payment methods to support you? Like a private discord server would be great. (giving access to channels based on roles given after verifying, giving access to files on links approved to users in the server etc) would love to hear back from you!
First of all, thank you! So as of right now I have the patreon.com/mapal where you can become a member and get the project files. I have thought about adding a discord as well, however that probably won't be in the super near future.
Hey mapal could you make a Mogrt tutorial, kinda like how youtube has an animation when you press subscribe? Like a subscribe CTA? JigglypuffFridays has a video on it, it'd be great if you could make a more advanced version. Thank you man, your tutorials are crazy good and I've subbed for more EDIT: NVM brother, just found what I was looking for. Thank you again for uploading, lifesaver
