Rotating while holding shift used to not give perfect 90-degree rotations a few years ago so I asked the dev to make the 90-degree angles the same as when you click to have those specific rotations in the menus and he fixed it within a day. Great program and great dev.
a capital Q looks like a lasso. in my mythology this is why Q is the hotkey for lasso.
I've been trying to break into Aseprite for awhile, but other tutorials dive extremely deep and are quite daunting. This was a great mix of useful content while being very digestible and not hours long. Thank you for the great content!
Excellent. I love how the developer of this tool was a sensible person that did not try to reinvent most of the hotkeys and straight up used PS's. I think that alone warrants a buy
exactly! I was so happy when I tried to use what I'm used to and bam, it worked. wonderful
This is a perfect example of a walkthrough video for me.
Super concise and to the point. Talking quickly with not a lot of pauses. Everything was really clear and you gave great examples for every step.
Thanks for putting this out!
So well made, thanks for sharing!
You have by far the best tutorial videos out there. I hope you do more! You relay information clearly, concisely, and with humour which makes it re-watchable! I have shared this and watched it many times. Keep up the good work!
Good video we want more of this video between devlogs please
I’ll try my best!
Woah that animation looks cool! I'm looking forward to seeing some animation-tutos! :D
Thank you, super helpful video - Can't wait to get started
Thanks man! I didn't know where to even start.
Man that was amazing, well done. This is the first tutorial that has felt like I am actually learning
Just started messing around with this, thanks for the guide:) Very helpful!
Best video on Asesprite fundamentals and efficient use. Will be eagerly waiting for the colour and animation videos!
you killed this tutorial. concise, well thought out. its a beautiful cheat sheet for beginners. thanks man
This is incredible and you are epic! You deserve way more subscribers!! Keep up the good work
i needed a tutorial to find these icons on the right. truly a tutorial for all kinds of dummies.
thank you!
Thank you! Very helpful. Just started using Aseprite and I LOVE IT! Pixel art rules.
Man, this is extremely helpful, thanks!
Holy smokes what a fantastic video. Informative, hilarious, easy going. Kudos sir!
Thanks so much. This video is exactly what I need to get back into pixel art on aesprite.
Good information with entertaining commentary, liked and subbed.
@6:24
This magic wand does reminds me of something
I like the tempo un your video. I was expecting a slog or for it to be way too fast but you explained everything enough without making me feel like I missed something. It also helps a LOT that you demonstrate each thing you show! Subscribing already.
Wow! A picture a day for 500 days? Now that's a commitment! Would love to see some of your favorites! I really like your art style. Thanks for sharing your journey :)
I'm new to this, but I thank you very much for sharing your wisdom!
I'm a beginner at pixel art, used to draw 11 years ago and recently picked it back up. It's been amazing, I made a big project over the course of 2 1/2 weeks and I wish I watched this video earlier, the preview & symmetry tool would've come really handy. I'll 100% use it moving forward.
Amazing video! very easy to understand. I also thank you for putting examples put into it on how and when to use the tools :P
such a good video, was looking for pixel art software to help with my game and this has all the tools to make it efficient and easier to grasp for a non designer mofo like myself, props to you man.
really been enjoying your journey through your devlogs and coincidentally picked up Aseprite a few months back! awesome stuff, keep it up!
Hi stardew fam
Very good and concise, just like the software you're teaching. Thank you!
I have been using aseprite for a while and I have no idea for some of the tips in the video, this is just perfect for me XD
Very good introduction. Best one i've seen yet.
Straightforward and very useful ty
Thankyou very much for making a great easy to follow tutorial video. I got Aseprite about 2 days ago an have been feeling somewhat overwhelmed, when it came to all the tools an what they do. So again thankyou it has helped me start my pixel art journey 😀 long road ahead but it's going to be fun!
I have a suspicion that Q is the lasso because it looks like a rope loop, and G is paint bucket because in Photoshop it's the gradient tool (and gradient is grouped with the paint bucket). That's just my guess.
Thank you for putting this together. Just hopped on the pixel art train and I’m learning from scratch as a non-artist. Would definitely appreciate some sort of learning plan or pathway to follow.
I've been doing pixel art for a little while now but i suck at learning the shortcuts and tend to do things the slow and stupid way, and a lot of videos dive into what the program can do without explaining the shortcuts and efficiency stuff, so great video as well as great art.
Excellent!!!
Thank you for sharing!!!!!!!!
Brilliant run down of the app, thank you.
Love the hotkeys, just speeds up the workflows!
A lot of useful information - thanks Watt!
Thank you Bro, The Video has been Really helpfull.
6:21 SIR?! I was just calmly looky at new programs while sipping my morning coffee no need to kill me like that
Nice video. Thanks for the explanations.
Nice, clear and useful
This is the best video on Aseprite that I have seen.
I am curious what helped you the most in learning pixel art.
very very helpful! watched a few videos i love your channel
I guess that the hotkey for lasso is Q, is because it looks like the icon for lasso.😂
Perfect intro, keep up the good work.
I want some of that Jigglybuff bro!
Hot air balloon of love.
I was trying my hand at pixel art using Ps , but it lacks specific tools for this style. Your video convinced me to buy Aseprite. It really answered all my questions about the software. Thank you!
Omg man!
Very clear, to the point and highly informative, i wrote everything down, i feel already like a pro and i can't draw if my life depends on it 😅
This is great thank you :)
I'll be watching the other Tutorial as well.
The magic wand appearing made me lose it, a very real lol. A+
This is amazing . Thank you So much dude
Great video! Thank you!
Pixel art may not be what I like to do, but this seems like a really good software
Thanks this video was very helpful
Just got aseprite non Long ago and was trying to figure out how to select multiple stuff, this help a lot 😅
Nice guide! thx
Thank you very much for the video.
I've learned much more from half of this video than from few courses.
As someone who wasted many hours making sprite art on microsoft paint with a mouse my mind is blown. Also your pixel art style is delightful "cleanup on isle goblin" added to my steam wishlist
But seriously. This App was the best investment in my life! Thanks for great tutorials!
cool. I use asperite and learned some things I didn't know about it
what a great tutorial!
great intro thanks
thanks for this amazing video
this will really help, thank you :)
Love the tutorial. Instant sub
Thanks! It helps a lot
I learned a lot from this tutorial. Thanks! I just want to ask fi it is possible if you can make a tutorial about sizing of canvas. I’m confused which size is good for pixel art. Like if i make a house or a whole store. Thanks
As someone with years of aseprite experience this video was still helpful. I learned a couple small things. Great video!
Great Vid! thanks
super helpful ty
Thank you!!
wonderful thank you
Thanks dude
Is it possible to watch the full timelapse of the Avata pixel art? Great vid btw
Hi there, great video! Question; at 9:28 you use the color modifier to darken part of your character. It looks like you use the Lasso to select the portions you want, and then you modify the values. When I replicate this, it not only modifies the outline color, (which doesn't happen in your clip) but also fills in and then modifies any index 0 background space in the lasso. Any workarounds? Thanks!
ur a life savior.
Dang it, what is with these cool videos luring me in and then teaching me things?! You're not supposed to teach old dogs new tricks! Joking aside, loved the video, stumbled upon it and subscribed after seeing it.
thank you
thank you.
love it. would really like to see how you do your animations i here
Compiling it by yourself if more of a annoying/complicated task than hard. It may be a little bit confusing and harder to people that doesn't have anything with programming, but just following a tutorial, specially if it's a video tutorial, I think anyone can get it working.
As you said, it's great for testing it if anyone wants and actually, you can get the most up to date version compiling, it just won't update by itself, so if you want the newest version always, you'll need to be recompiling the base code whenever a update is launched.
the q is used for the lasso because "Q" looks like a little lasso
I've got the Windows version 1.3.2. I don't see the Symmetry Tool. Am I missing it?
Never mind; I found it under View/Symmetry Options.
Thanks, I couldn't figure out how to save my art without it getting blurry!
That was so educational. Is it still revelant in 2024?
Yes! All the same :)
6:50 ... I died.
(Great video)
How did you get your layers window to the right?
nice video
Make colour choosing video, like hue shifting and value etc.
do you use pentab? if yes, what do you use? thank you!
I decreased duration time of my few frames but When I export the animation, they turn into the normal speed frames, how can I avoid it? thanks.
That was incredibly easy to follow! Does anyone know the dimensions (16x16, 8x8, etc...) of the little goblins he made?
There meant to fit in a 32 x 32 box with a bit of room to spare, so they’re about 19 x 22 😊
The symmetry buttons don't appear for me.
nvm I had to select symmetry options in the view tab.
I want to use an a image to reference. How do I import an image with out it becomes part of my art?
I'm gonna try the 1 picture a day for 500 days thing.
I think the lasso is Q because a Q looks like a lasso
