      I can just imagine the 2 of them creating a skin care line together it would be the best on the market. And if the 2 of them could also come up with a powder sunscreen to use after we are made up in the color ranges Ri Ri has achieved Baby that would be fire

    I've learned more about skincare from Dr. V than any dermatologist or esthetician. Just wish more dermatologist were educated on SOC.

    • @hithere8140
      @hithere8140 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Its so disappointing that derms are not educated on soc. Its rediculous really, theyre supposed to be experts and this seems like it should be basic knowledge across the board because as doctors they see patients from all races.

    • @manicpixiecremegirl
      @manicpixiecremegirl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      As an esthetics student (in the US), it really blows my mind how little we actually learn about SOC. Additionally, I find it really disappointing that it seems to not be important enough to some folks to ask questions and seek out the information themselves. I'm so glad I found this and many other channels from black and brown experts in their field who can provide much needed education to help fill in some of those gigantic gaps in knowledge. I feel incredibly lucky that I live in the time of the internet and TH-cam, because I truly don't know how else I could access experts information and education like this otherwise.

    Skin is individual, I have the complete SCENTED line. My skin feels and look amazing. The face wash consistency feels amazing & she released an unscented line, for scent sensitive folks. I say everyone should try what works for them because had I gone off this review I would not have purchased. I took a risk seeing as Dr. V seems well educated & definitely versed in skincare. BUT I have very strong skin, that’s “low” problematic. I have dry/normal skin & I love it 🤷🏽‍♀️ I have the entire line and use it 2x a day. Have been using 2 months now. Zero issues or irritations.

    • @Nailed2TheHustle

      Sometimes your skin can take to something NOW and you won’t see the damage until YEARS later. I’m experiencing this now. I used a product for 13 years and my skin FINALLY broke down from it so I had to do my research and start using healthier stuff on my skin

    • @ariannaboykins8045
      @ariannaboykins8045 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely agree. I LOVE this line and have no skin issues aside from dark circles under my eyes which are not even that dark. And she also didn’t mention that the moisturizer is for NIGHT time, so the ingredients that made her concerned wouldn’t be a factor because you use it before bed and then wash it off in the morning. It’s not meant to be applied during the day. BUT this was a new line and I still learned a lot from this critique and I love love loveeee that she is advocating for people of color and bringing awareness that we do have different needs! So glad i discovered this channel!! ❤❤

    I had a new discovery on avobenzone recently. It reacts with the iron in the hard water and turns into rust. If you wear a light colored shirt and the sunscreen get on it (very likely), the shirt will turn lime/yellow/orange. So another reason to avoid chemical sunscreen.
    Tip: spray the tub cleaner on the shirt to remove the rust color :)

    The linalool etc isn’t added in addition to the fragrance, its actually in the perfume. The regulation just require them to disclose them separately because they are known allergens. But I agree that perfum is very unnecessary and I am very disappointed in fenty skin, because it’s just another skin care line for anyone. It’s not bad but not great either for POC or Caucasian skin.

    You are so kind even when the news is not really good. I love Rihanna as I am also Caribbean but one look at the ingredient deck of the product made me want to run for the hills. The Caribbean cherries are indeed pretty potent.

    My friend and I purchased it. I only use the sunscreen it's been a week and it made bumps develop on my face!! I still use it on my legs and arms but... I will stick to my grapefruit neutrogena 🤷🏾‍♀️

    Another great video Dr. V! Thank you so much for this channel dedicated to skin of color; I’ve learned so much.
    One of my favorite things about your videos are your in depth explanations. You don’t just say ‘fragrance is bad, avoid it’ or ‘don’t wear actives during the day, it’s bad for skin’. You EXPLAIN why fragrance shouldn’t be in skincare and what happens when you wear actives during the day. I feel like I’m actually learning about skincare when I watch your videos as opposed to just learning what to avoid and what to look for.
    For example, when I first started looking into products to help with hyperpigmentation, I saw that a lot of them contained alpha Arbutin. Therefore, I assumed it was an ingredient that was helpful in the treatment of hyperpigmentation but had no idea why or what it was. Now I know that it’s because it is a tyrosinase inhibitor! I feel a lot more confident shopping and making choices for my skincare when I have more knowledge. Thank you 🤗!

    This was so helpful. I have really bad allergies and cannot use anything with perfumes. I really think they should make skincare with perfumes in them. You can always add perfumes if you want to on your body.

    Thank you for today's broadcast. It was very informative. I always appreciate your candor, honesty, and professional integrity in your reviews, regardless as to the race, color, ethnicity of the creator.
    Would you please review Black Girl Sunscreen and Mary Louise Skincare? Also, would you review the Renee Rouleau skincare line?

    I’m happy for your AM active trials in POC! I would really like this information because things marketing company rave about does not work for my skin like high percentage glycolic acid / niacinamide / Vitamin C etc etc

    Am late watching this . I bought the moisturizer and struggled a lot and couldn't find anyone else complaining once about the reaction of the product with their skin. So I was sure it was something else causing it. Then I changed to CeraVe and thank God for that because my skin started feeling better . I am from India and I live in a smallish city in France and getting things like sunscreen for a person of colour has been such a struggle that I jumped at Fenty skin care .

    Hi Dr V,
    Thank you for your contribution towards POC. You are making a big difference. There is no information out there on what is suitable for skin of colour. I wish I had known about all these in my 20s. I think it's about time that big brands put out skin care products suitable for POC.
