Thanks for these videos! I wonder if you can answer... during the goal that happens at 15min, is there a best choice as to which player should go to block the shot? Assuming guy on wall and goalie both respect the shot and have the mechanics to get there, which one /should/ be going?
Could I send you some clips to have you review I just got into dimond. And I’m having issues I’m aware of just don’t know the correct thing to do in those situations
I made a list of all the stuff he mentioned in the video :) 1. Keep up your momentum 2. Be patient 3. What can my teammate do? Closer positioning when my teammate is on the wall with the ball 4. Guard goal side when going for 50/50s 5. Use the space you have and keep the ball close 6. Recognize when you can and can not shoot 7. Sometimes it's ok to sit still 8. Anticipate what's going to happen and how long it's going to take 9. Make sure to rotate back post 10. Don't over complicate basic mechanics 11. Make sure to pick up as many small pads as you can 12. Always respect the possibility of a shot from the opponent 13. Don't give the ball away to the opponents for free 14. Never leave your teammate in a 2v1 15. Don't give your opponents time on the ball 16. Try to close the distance in a 1v1 scenario 17. Never stay still, facing straight in the net without momentum Hope this helps
@@toasterdoggo7885 Number 17 is way more specific, it says in the net and facing straight. Number 7 is just as Virge said "If the play isn't moving you don't have to move" it does not pinpoint a specific scenario.
Hello this is Traptorraptor, thanks for having me virge! This was a blast and I can’t thank you enough for the replay analysis! I’ve learned a lot and now am sitting close to gc and still come back to this video every once in a while to be refreshed on the tips, and yes I can say even in high champ these tips help a lot and still do apply. Great video virge and hope to see more of BBU in the future!
Hey Virge, I'd like to see a critique of a winning team in a close match. Mistakes made in a loss are glaringly obvious upon review and often known to player, but when players are peaking I think you'll find areas where they really had to stretch to achieve victory and therefore what to focus on to improve consistency.
@@JigglypuffTutorials d3 feels like d1 this season and its felt that way since the season of free to play because the mmr changed and plays moved up to diamond
I really like this kind of video, a professional coach like Virge makes this game even better than it looks, showing us that is not only about to touch a ball. Its so much more than that! Hope to be picked for a potential champ1 video🙌
C2-C3 and these tips are still great reminders for me. Also big thanks to the guys in the replay, and of course thank you Virge!! Feels like a free professional coaching session. I'm sure I'll watch all of these BBU videos :)
No matter what rank you are, this video still helps a ton. I was originally d1 and after i watched this video i made it to champ 2 and im at around 500 hours total across both pc and ps4 but i am happy with my improvement. Thanks Virge!
12:55 Coming from someone who is newish to RL, but am experienced enough in games like LOL high elo, I agree that being efficient is the most logical and safer route to victory. However, I do believe that limit testing (or just trying more technical moves) in a real match with the pressure helps as well. It gives you the ability to push yourself further in high pressure situations and create new opportunities to work on in the future. I guess the thing would be finding a good balance of when to be effective vs when to try and do some limit testing. That's my own personal thoughts and since I'm not experienced enough in RL right now (only in diamond rank so far), I can't 100% say that this is a good perspective to have and could be completely wrong.
Honestly these guys were much better than I expected. I'm a diamond 1 and I feel like they looked far more consistent mechanically and positionally than me. Well done guys and great video Virge.
Great video, a lot of very relatable mistakes and great explanations. Almost all of the clips had easy to miss mistakes that don't feel like mistakes in the moment.
I appreciate so much the amount noobness of those 2 players and their humbleness to show to us all how noob they are without feeling bad. You'd both deserve a medal for how noob and humble you are. Thank you for the bravery in allowing this youtuber to point out your more or less horrible noob mistakes. Here we go Virge. I have thank them for being brave and letting you make a video while analyzing them. You're welcome.
Man i'm diamomd 3 and look! a video that will help me a lot thank you so much virge. You always try to help others, and make others play the game more and to recognize that if you put the time and the effort you will see results!
i’m a c2 player, and i love ur vid, great refresher. I would like to emphasize the front post rotation. I think it is the number ONE most annoying / common mistake (and i spent a long time in diamond) along with leaving net when the 50 isn’t won or the possession isn’t clear. I don’t know if it’s the 100 boost, or the comfort, but if you rotate front post it’s 1) harder to turn around and make an impact on the play 2) you can cause your teammate to hesitate on a simple clear 3) your teammate has to try to avoid you on his way to the ball. So many heartbreaking easy goals we could’ve avoided if my solo q teammate didn’t go front post. that said it’s a rule not a law and sometimes front post is OK, but not until you master back post.
The close control part is really important. Even at gc I see teammates (including myself) get big clears when there's no one around them and they could've controlled the ball more
the "hey" at the beginning with the tilt edit is the best single second of youtube ive ever watched. idk. i think its the timing of it. pretty funny lmao
Now this is very interesting to see and learn from. Especially for me, since I am D2 rank aswell. Good to see that again rotations and actions are KEY to victory. Good job on this and I cant wait for the next video! Keep up the good work.
Mate im gc and still went "ah I didn't know that" you would be suprised how bad low gc is. We are basically consistent champs. Or mechanical idiots lmao
Well atleast you hit your mechanics/balls so you all deserve champ/GC. In RL are just so many details that there is alot to improve even of you are near the hihgest rank.

Best rocket league video i have seen. Excellent analysis, really cleared up a lot of confusion I had about which approach I should stick to. As a fellow Llama, I commend you sir. Hope all is well 🙏
This is actually so great as a low-mid diamond myself, these players are definetly a decent amount better than me but only a lil bit so i can understand what they do right and wrong and why, and virge, suprisingly as a professional coach for one of the best teams, somehow hes good at teaching things lmao nah but this helps thiccly
Thanks! I've started to play again and am still c1-c2 but I've forgotten about many little things like this losing momentum when the play slows down and i drive forth and back
Bro very helpful video. And the rotation otw back to defend, please cut threw midfield! I get blamed when i cant save the ball cause they are driving right in the path i need to go. People need to learn rotation, i love finding those good teamates that just always rotate right behind you, makes the game so fun!
Did you guy’s win??? Lol. I was too busy reading the plays lmao. GG TY. Very helpful D3 players. This is helpful more then you can imagine. I’m stuck D1 & my 3rd isn’t on our level yet. So most of the time I’m boosting back to our net to defend when goals r missed or passes r intercepted. Its good to see how other people think so I can put myself in their shoes.
One of the most crucial things you rightly touched on a couple times is to slow it down with close control when you're opponents are disadvantaged. They'll expect a hard show or pass in this rank so make good use of time and room to set up passing plays with teammates without hitting the ball hard off the wall or backboard. And for defense you GOTTA practice hard at getting to your opponent's passes off of your own backboard before they do from the rear post which is where you almost always need to be.
