In defense of the shapeshifter changing into Rebecca and then taking the time to change back into Dean, including his clothes. For the shapeshifter, because its family treated it horribly, it wants to inflict the same pain on others; it wants others' loved ones to hurt them & expect the worst of them. So, it changed into Rebecca to get Sam to lower his guard, cause it probably knew from Dean's memory that it needed to catch Sam with his guard down. Then, once it had Sam, it changed back into Dean to complete its' little ritual. It needed to be in Dean's clothes (not Rebecca's) to complete the mindf-ck~ Cause, even if Sam *knows* that it's a shapeshifter, it would be hard to hold onto that fact while being tortured, and that would mess him up... (There's a thing you kinda hit on tho about the shapeshifter's wardrobe change that means more than you know, but I can't say anymore, cause it's a spoiler!!!)
oh yay! Dean without a shirt!! oh no, wait, ewwww! I loved the scene between shifter Dean and Sam too. Also not sure how you guys watch this but this episode really needs the original music.

This is the episode that the music is sooooo obviously not as good as the DVD. I remember watching it on TV 20 years ago and how much the music hit. Hasn’t changed, music was awesome in this episode.
