    Hi kelvin I have just pulled my car down to the intake manifolds chasing oil puffing in exhaust.
    Found red oil under supercharger intecooler. Your video may have saved me an engine rebuild.
    As I have also been having powersteering low oil and airating issues.
    Just had p/steering pump rebuilt.

    G'day Kelvin! My steering wheel has always been heavy, and it doesn't return to center through a turn. I just replaced the PS pump with a brand new Toyota pump, and also replaced the lines, after flushing the rack good. Steering is still heavy and no wheel return through a turn. Could it be that the rack needs rebuilding? No weeping from her yet; no noises. Many Thanks!

    Not sure what I did wrong. I installed the air valve using no sealant and it leaks. Is it possible the there is a seal internally that is damaged in the pump itself? The old one was sweating oil at the threads

    • @CartuneNZ

      There is a little brass seat in the powersteer pump which the valve seals on. Maybe that brass seat is damaged. Cheers Kelvin

    So your saying blue smokes may also come out when this value is bad? Because before installing power steering pump it would smoke blue on start ups and disappear now that we broke that value while installing pump it smokes white like a train and blue as well. Is that why?

    • @CartuneNZ

    • @CartuneNZ
      @CartuneNZ  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think in stock vehicles its far easier to repair the nearly 30 year old pump which has possibly never been apart and it will give many ore years of service than to stuff around reinventing the wheel.

    • @nickmcgarvey6463
      @nickmcgarvey6463 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CartuneNZ Thanks. I'm thinking for swap purposes in a place a UZ was never intended to be and power steering didn't previously exist but generally I'd agree about not reinventing the wheel. Even though I guess engine swapping pretty mush is exactly that haha.

    thanks for putting up these videos , lots of good Information thanks.
    can i ask you please what do you do in the case of a 1uz with a link g4 . can you use an electrical switch or something instead of this factory valve ? or can you remove this system is it necessary for a street car ? I'm doing a conversion now that this is a question mark on the list currently , not sure what way to go

    • @CartuneNZ
      @CartuneNZ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If its manual, with link ecu I normally delete this idle up and with correct settings for the iac with a well tuned engine the ecu will compensate fast enough. If I'm running something with massive tyres where we also want very low idle speed we would fit a electrical switch and feed this to the ecu and adjust the power steer idle up setting in the link.

    • @1thegrimreefer1
      @1thegrimreefer1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CartuneNZ Kelvin , thank you very much this is what I needed to know. yes its manual and I don't think the tires are what you'd call too large. but its a nice and light car so that should help somewhat : )

    • @CartuneNZ
      @CartuneNZ  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For a switch I look to some other models of toyota have a switch which screws in as a direct replacement for the stock air bleed valve. I think I have one laying around to check a part number off it.
