Alright so the reason star allies says susie is still evil is because of a translation error. In the actual canon she is helping people with her technology and blasting anyone who gets in the way of that

I remember the first time I first learned about this lore over a year ago after touching one of the games on my 3DS and researching what to do in that game of what's to come along with others that I planned to play soon. I'm now glad I never played them as a kid.

He's finally released a sequel, so he can correct things that got lost in translation in the first video and also because both Forgotten Land and several recent spin-off games added so many details that he had to make a follow-up. I suggest you check it out if you don't want to 100% Forgotten Land (even though that's some of the most fun parts of modern Kirby) or beat every level in a Free-to-Play game (which is probably more likely than the former, especially because Super Kirby Clash has a stamina meter).

I recommend Forgotten Land. Mostly because it's like a reset point for lore, you don't have to FULLY understand all of past lore you just have have to know the basis which is the ancients. Also it's really fun and just good in general.
I agree, that or Planet Robobot which is just another extremely solid and pretty recent Kirby game.

We don't actually know much about the specifics of Meta Knight's origins, but what we DO know is that he and Kirby are of the same "species". As proven in the many times his defeat in battle leads to his mask breaking, revealing a Kirby-like face beneath.
So then is meta knight a morally neutral dark matter being?

Now, I don't know if the anime (Kirby: Right Back At Ya!) is cannon to the games or not, but part of the anime gives a ... semi explanation as to how Metaknight and Kirby are related. In the anime it's stated that they are both "Star Warriors", defenders of love and peace including "the strongest warriors in the galaxy" (most likely referencing Galactakight but that never gets touched on). Some other members of the "Star Warriors" include Axeknight, Spearnight, and a few others (they actually show up next to Metaknight in one of Planet Robobot's side modes, Metaknightmare Returns [23:08]). Now combine this information with what we know about Zero, and I might have an idea. (Just keep in mind that this next bit is me taking different bits of lore and combining them to get a *potential* answer. This is me theorizing based on available info and not the definitive answer. If I am wrong that's fine, let me know. I'm just trying to share what I think.) I think that similar to how Zero came from Void and created the Dark Matter species, resulting in multiple different types of dark matters like the floating eye dark matter, sword wielding dark matter, and Gooey. Some unknown entity not revealed yet came from Void, and went on to make the species that Kirby, Metakignt, and potentially Galactakight are part of. Seeing as all three have the same body shape and eyes, with Metaknight and Galactakight both having a pair of wings. This species then going on to eventually form the "Star Warriors" mentioned in the anime. This could also explain where Keeby came from (Keeby is the canonical name of the yellow variant of Kirby that shows up in some of the games. I checked and as far as I can tell, it's the only color variant of Kirby with a name. The other different colored Kirby's, for whatever reason, don't have names, but the yellow one gets a name ... I can't really make sense of it.)

I don't mean this just to defend him, I mean like... he's never killed, say, Metaknight before. But then, Metaknight doesn't _actually_ try to turn their duels into death combats. You know, unlike all those Crazy Elder Nightmare Gods Kirby fights every other week.

All this to say, my point still stands! Metaknight and Dedede are still alive, he didn't kill Susie, and most of the bosses in each game are usually alive too. Badly hurt, but alive. I'm not sure we'd have the same result if, say, Marx was doing it.
That aside, Dedede and Metaknight clobber and impale about as many people as Kirby gobbles up with their respective weapons whenever they go solo/help him/get possessed, so killing enemies is, unfortunately, hardly a Kirby-problem.

Personally if you had to play a Kirby game and start somewhere, I'd say either Superstar Ultra for the DS, and/or Return to Dreamland for the Wii, those 2 games are classic and HIGHLY worth checking out.
Would another good place to start be the new one on switch?

Return to Dreamland is my favorite Kirby game.
About Meta Knight: he's a good guy. He's a defender of Dream Land and a good friend of both Kirby and King Dedede (who by the way isn't really like Bowser, he has a friendly rivalry with Kirby and often helps him). That bit about Meta Knight being corrupted refers to the events of Star Allies, where pieces of the Jamba Heart corrupt Dedede and Meta Knight with their dark influence.
Also, about Susie continuing to mechanise planets - as The RPG Monger notes in the sequel video, that's actually a mistranslation (an unfortunately common occurrence in Kirby Lore); She's actually using the company to do good. There's actually a version of her from Another Dimension (that's the actual name of the dimension, and it's different from the Mirror World) called President Parallel Susie that's actually more in line with what the mistranslation claimed Susie does.
Keep in mind that Kirby is about 8 inches tall, so the things he beats are probably 5 feet tall at most

She simply just helped improve people's lives, essentially returning the purpose of the company to its original state
It doesnt say mechanizing planets but drops the "exterminate savages" line that Halttman throws around which is just as worrying.
It says that she's "making smiles" for everyone, while also saying she's destorying 'savages' (which, remember, is what Haltman calls Kirby for foiling his plans)
so...it's ambiguous.
There's only so much lore you can fit into one pause screen for one character sadly.

Susie's motivation in Star Allies was a mistranslation! If I remember correctly she started to use the company to build houses and other things that would vastly improve the lives of people.
He addresses mistranslations like that as well as the games that were released after Star Allies in the sequel video to this one, it would be interesting to see you react to it as well! Also, Kirby and the Forgotten Land lore is genuinely incredible, the arc for both Elfilin and Elfilis was great.

But yeah, I recommend SuperStar Ultra for the DS. It was my first game and is a good way to introduce you to the series with several small, basically standalone games tied into one.

I've always loved the kirby lore especially the details from this video. In terms of Kirby games to play, I would recommend Return to Dreamland, Planet Robobot and Forgotten Land
Honestly the best thing about Kirby lore is that it’s so convoluted, so dark, so conmected…but in the end, it’s still just about Kirby protecting his friends. No matter how deep down it goes, the feeling this kindhearted pink ball of sunshine gives off never gets dampened. In a way, it just helps show off how great Kirby‘s immaculate vibes truly are!
As someone who has been into the Kirby franchise for almost their whole life, it's always fun to see people who haven't played any of the games react to how bat-shit insane the lore of this cutesy platformer franchise get.
I’d highly recommend watching the character analysis of Dedede and Meta Knight done by Silvery. They’ll both help touch a ton on things you didn’t get to see here. Going off of this video, your reactions to that would be an absolute joy to experience.
I think Kirby Canvas Curse/Power Paintbrush and Kirby Mass Attack are super fun for spin-off games. Not only are several siblings of a character from CC introduced in modern Kirby, MA is a sort of what-if scenario with a more introspective Kirby after he almost gets killed

The implication/general assumption is that Kirby, being an incarnation of the Void like Dark Matter, can't be possessed for the same reason Dark Matter can't possess another piece of itself. It's the same reason Gooey can't be possessed.

I want to clear some things up
First, void is basically a god who when is surrounded in ether good or bad energy will make a renunciation to spreed that emotion.
Second, void termina was sealed by four worriers. One of the worriers was galactic knight who was not sealed yet. The ancients started to fear galactic knights power after sealing void termina so the magic ancients sealed him, after galactic knight was sealed the science ancients started to fear the magic ones because they were able to seal galactic knight so they got banished.
Third, Kirby’s stomach is a pocket Dimension.
Wait, I remember reading somewhere that the Four Heroes didn’t exactly seal Termina in a Jamba Heart. To be more specific, it said the Jamba Heart came from a dimensional rift and the Heroes sealed it with the Heart Pins because it was leaking darkness.

Meta Knight is strongly hinted at being an elder member of Kirby’s species, but without the copy ability for some reason. He’s introduced as a mini boss in the second ever Kirby game, but also sometimes shows up in the background to give Kirby helpful items. His intentions are most likely to train Kirby and later on, he becomes a close friend.

Kirby killing people is kinda dubious at this point. Enemies when you "kill" (not including inhaling here) them turn into puffs of smoke. But we see in the games that bosses that also poof into smoke, usually return all fine. So, I guess the only time you kill anyone is when the game it explicitly clear, or when you inhale enemies.
I'd play planet Robobot if you want to play one. It has the most interesting theme and gimmicks and is just a good Kirby experience
There’s a lot more than this they didn’t even touch on forgotten land and that butterfly is essentially the Grim Reaper and a passer of judgment and The thing was Susie is only in English version in Japan she rebuilt the company as a charity and I would recommend superstar ultra, planet Robobot,return to dreamland,or forgotten land

i was really surprised on either how much you got correct or how close you were with your predictions. since it wasnt out at the time, the rpg monger made a second kirby lore video going over the lore in forgotten land and one of the spin offs, which i really think you should check out and react to
I would definitely recommend you to play return to Dreamland on the wii. It was my first Kirby game and I instantly fell in love with the franchise. The story is just a masterpiece and the game is not too easy (you can't just fly above the entire levels and cheese bosses like that). I even had to force my sister to help me at some point but I was bad at the game because it was my first play through and even one of my first video game ever.

I'd definitely say that Super Star Ultra is the best one to start with, but on top of that Kirby Planet Robobot, Return to Dream Land and Forgotten Land are all incredible installments as well!!
Kirby and the forgotten land is seriously good and would absolutely recommend playing it!
Meta Knight is also implied to be related to Kirby, for after defeating him, his mask breaks, revealing a face similar to Kirby's. This is also referenced by Kirby's 8th alternate color in Super Smash Bros.
The "power of love" in kirby isnt just a thing. Its a straight up deadly weapon. Lol
I'd recommend Crystal Shards honestly, that end boss fight they displayed is really hard but over all it's a really fun experience, figuring out new combinations for your powers, the puzzles on how to get some of the shards, it's a great time. Any of the GBA ones are pretty good too. Also of course Kirby does murder, he eats people.
Forgotten land was my first Kirby game and I LOVED it! It's so cute and so fun.

If you want to play a kirby game, kirby planet robobot is one of the best games in the whole series!
Of the kirby games the ones I recommend playing are Super Star, Kirby 64, Triple Deluxe, Planet Robobot and finally the brand new Forgotten Land.
The thing about Meta Knight is he SEEMS to be the same species as Kirby, as without his mask he looks like a black kirby with yellow eyes (amusingly he immeditaly runs off when unmasked, implying he's embarassed of his true face). Meta Knigth is actually consistently a good guy, with Meta Knight's Revenge being the ONLY time in the series he's an actual antagonist.
I like that Susie seemingly never reforms. After all, she only helped Kirby because she, like, didn't want to be killed by Star Dream, and even her attacking Haltman was less for good reasons and more because she was pissed at her dad for forgetting her and also make money selling Star Dream. She was COMPLETELY fine with the mechanising plan throughout the game too.
I've only watched 5 minutes so far, and I must say, I'm very impressed by how quickly Patterrz is understanding how the Kirby lore works, and is making good assumptions based on RPGMonger's video.

Ok so here's an explanation.
In the beginning,
There was a single entity, which, when encounters a concentrated emotion, it reincarnates. This being "gave birth" to both void termina and kriby one being purely good, and the other purely evil.
The ancients were a group of beings, comprised of 2 types, the science ones who made the devices (ie. The clock and the crown) and the magic ones that gave the devices power. The ancients got a group of warriors, Including galacta knight to Seal void termina, The ancients sealed galacta knight, because they were scared if his power.
The science ancients, banished the magic ancients, so the magic ancients tried to revive void termina.
Zero's origins are unknown, but it just wants to take over stuff with dark matter.
The orange butterfly is a divine being of judgement, that can cross dimensions, and if it absorbs a powerful soul, it makes a morpho knight.
Pat: "Wait, Kirby murders?"
Me: "Oh, he does much more than just murder them. He swallows them whole on a regular basis."
the next kirby game will be pat fusing with a different huge plant to preserve his devilish looks 💪

the gist of meta knight lore is that every time you beat him his mask breaks revealing that he looks almost exactly like kirby. hes not ususally made out to be a villain more of an honorable swordsman looking out for the world. unless the next villain of the week takes over him to attack kirby.
you should play the lastest kirby game, kirby and the forgotten land, it's pretty good

My favorite what-ifs are things like "What if the MC got corrupted and joined the bad guys" or ones where you think you're the good guy but at like the very end you break your own trust and it's revealed you're evil and just destroyed the world or something. I really respect people who can write the second, because you need to be able to trick the audience into thinking they're good, but the actions themselves lean towards evil. Takes so many mind games and sheer genius that it's so admirable.
I recommend Planet Robobot, as it's really fun and the music just slaps, especially final boss phases 1 3 & 4!
You don’t seem like a person who would enjoy Kirby games but I definitely think you should try a Kirby game like Kirby star allies or Kirby and the forgotten land

I would recommend the new Kirby and the Forgotten Land lore uploaded by the same guy who did this one! It’s about 15 minutes long, but it clarifies some stuff and adds a lot to the lore
Funny little thing that I don't remember if the video touched on:
In Kirby Super Star (and a handful of other games), Meta Knight's mask breaks and it reveals that he's actually another Kirby.
Also I think generally speaking, Meta Knight is a good guy despite appearing as a reoccurring boss here and there. I think in the occasions he is a boss, it's specifically for testing or preparing Kirby.
He doesn't say this in the video, but Susie is actually incredibly terrifying. So much so Meta Knight will run from her as he is terrified of her. Same with Dark Meta Knight.
And to put that into perspective, Meta Knight is the kirby version of Shadow the Hedgehog.
If you were to play a Kirby game I would recommend playing Kirby’s Epic Yarn/Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn first they are fun games

A thing about Galacta Knight and the what if scenarios he always appears in: while the alternate events we see in these extra modes of characters other than Kirby going on his adventures are not canon to the main series dimension, being that Galacta Knight himself is an inter dimensional traveler, the events of these battles are all canon to him. That’s why he’s only unsealed in his first appearance, when in his subsequent appearances, he’s simply summoned.
An odd thing though, (I haven’t heard anything about this online) I’m pretty sure the “extra mode” equivalent in the latest game, Forgotten Land, *is* actually canon. It’s accessed through a portal in the hub world, not a menu, and it’s events affect said hub too. This would make this game Galacta/Morpho Knight’s first showdown with *our* Kirby.
To explain more, first it applied void the creator of Kirby universe as well being his parent, Zero is Kirby sibling as he was born from negatives of Void, and Kirby is born form positives of Void.
Galactic knight seen be close to both Kirby and Meta Knight as to assume Galactic knight is Meta Knight father himself since he older than both, however in the what if, notice Kirby never seen to appear and Galactic knight does, it also applied in that timeline Kirby is Galactic knight himself.
I’m effing obsessed with seeing Kirby newbs react to the lore. I wonder what someone who knew nothing about the lore reacted to the butterfly in The Forgotten Land?
Presumably Dark Matter can't possess Kirby directly because while Dark Matter is pure evil, Kirby is a force of pure good.
Which is probably why most antagonists he's faced have ended up becoming his friend, and the others have been utterly annihilated from existence.
I'd just like to mention that the only reason kirby wasn't summoned when meta knight asked to fight the "strongest warrior" was because well... kirby isn't a warrior.
A warrior is just a soldier, a fighter, someone who fights and does what they're told. Kirby isn't that, kirby fights to protect those he cares about, kirby is a friend, not a warrior.
At least that's my conception of it.
And another really crazy thing? Not only is Void Termina's Cry a slowed down deeper and distorted version of Kirby's panicked shouting, but if you listen to Void Termina's Battle theme it is actually a slowed down and minor key version of Green Greens, the "default Kirby's theme" and music played during the first level of most Kirby Games and the very first theme we hear in the original Kirby game when Kirby is first seen with The Butterfly.
Also in past official Miiverse Posts it is actually stated that Kirby bein all pure and the embodiment of good and purity and positivity and the polar opposite to Dark Matter's evil and corruption and hatred, Kirby actually is incapable of really hating anything. HOWEVER it is stated that Kirby has a quote "Strong Dislike and distaste towards . . . Butterflies." Out of all of the potentially agrivating or negatively associated creature that are actually dangerous or could do any real harm, how is it that Kirby, the embodiment of all thing hood and pure and love and friendship has a problem with BUTTERFLIES?! There is absolutely something in store for us in the future where there will be a day of judgement of wings of fire raining down from above in a future Kirby Game and that will almost certainly be the day where everything comes together for some big.
Another fun fact, Morpho Knoght is also based on Meta Knight's Beta Design that was originally intended for said canceled N64 game. And in many Central and south American and Hispanic cultures, Butterflies are in fact heavily associated and directly tied to the Dead, the Afterlife, the Underworld, Ghosts, Spirits of the Dead and the connection or gateway between the world of the living and Life and the world of the Dead and Afterlife, iften through associations with bright colors and Fire or Firey Aperitions like will-o-the-wisps and ghostly or ethereal flames that seem to be alive themselves. Just like Morpho Knight. Also in the Kirby Anime and since then Meta Knight has been depicted with a strong Spanish Accent like another famous mysterios Spanish Swordsman from Media, Zorro.
And his sword actually has a name first used in the Kirby Anime and since has been made canon as stated in games as Galaxia. Meta Knight also appears to be the very same species as Kirby, Galacta Knight, and Morpho Knight as when he is shown with his mask removed and Kirby's alternate colors in Super Smash Bros. However this was only really brought up in the anime which never actually showed Meta Knight without his mask, it is heavily implied by even himself that the similarities he has with Kirby is no mere coincidence and the possibility that Kirby is a younger version of the same Species and Race. This would make sense given that long ago Galacta Knight was supposedly one of the original four heroes who defeated and sealed away Void Termina from the Galactic Crisis of the War or the Ancients. With Galacta Knight even being sealed away and banished in a rift of space and time in a pinkish crystal prison much like the Jamba Heart used to seal Void Termina.
Also of probable note, Kirby, Meta Knight, Galacta Knight, and Morpho Knight all are capable of or regular weild long melee weapons associated with knights. Kirby has the Master Sword Copy Ability which he can only get from sucking up Meta Knight's Sword and notably in the most recent game is given a possible upgrade called "The Galacta Sword Ability" which addresses the similarity with Meta Knight's sword and Galacta Knight. Meta Knight himself weilds his sword Galaxia, Galacta Knight wields a Lance and a Shield, and Morpho Knight wields two swords encrested with glowing Eye like gems and resemblance to Bladed Butterfly Wings. Each sword being imbued with Pyromantic Capabilities, even able to create giant living fiery wisps that can move on their own and target opponents when the swords are moved in a slashing motion. And Galacta Knight and Morpho Knight also all share the same ability to use Meta Knights's signature and arguably most powerful attack being the Mach Tornado by striking the ground. Kirby however from what we've seen doesn't appear to use this attack at least all that often if ever. Kirby does however have the signature Copy Ability like how Morpho Knight is able to Absorb and directly Fuse with Galacta Knight and even others eventually later on. Only providing literally more fuel to the fire of speculation and theories connecting these four characters to The Original Four Legendary Heroes or so called "Star Warriors" like the term first usef in the Anime.
definitely start with kirby and the forgotten land. I think it's the best starting game for anyone getting into the series for multiple reasons, but long story short is really good and not too complicated since it's kinda of a kirby refresher.
Meta Knight is definitely a good guy, yeah. The only time he ever truly acted as a villain was in Revenge of Meta Knight - but that instance aside, he's always done his best to help and protect those who can't protect themselves, be they from Dreamland or anywhere else in the universe.
He's considered quire the hero and guardian, and many people in the community see him as a mentor figure to Kirby.
Because they're a lot more connected than you'd think.
I'm not sure if you've ever thought about what Meta Knight looks like underneath his mask, but if you remove it, his face looks - *drum roll* - just like Kirby's!

Meta Knight seems to be quite bashful about his cute features though, because he always teleports away the moment he gets unmasked. Poor guy.
Anyway, as you now know - having a face like Kirby's _means_ something in this world.
It has never been officially confirmed, but chances are that just like Kirby, Meta Knight was born from Void.

Anyway, you asked the games that you should play. I personally would recommend Kirby and the Forgotten Land. In my opinion it's the best, as well as being objectively the newest and most innovative. Although, while I haven't played it myself, I've heard many praise and claim that Kirby Planet Robobot is their favourite.
Actually Metaknight is actually another member of Kirby's species, called Star Warriors. And Kirby is quite a lot younger than you'd think, as he's still a baby. Also, my favorite "what if" scenario for Pokémon is a three way tie between "what if Ash had the Omnitrix", "What if Ash was raised by Pokémon/a Pokémon", and "what if Ash was a Pokémon"
