Waylon was the father of the Outlaw Movement in Country music. The Outlaw Movement was a breaking of the traditional music being pushed by the Record Labels. They took control of their music styles and brought in song writers who weren’t getting the attention they deserved. This was epitomized by the album Wanted! The Outlaws, which included music from Waylon, Willie Nelson, Jessi Coulter (Waylon’s wife), Billy Joe Shaver, and Tompall Glaser. Every track is worth listening to. So here they are - My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys by Waylon … Honkey Tonk Heroes by Billy Joe Shaver … I’m Looking for Blue Eyes by Jessi Colter … You Mean to Say by Jessi … Suspicious Minds by Waylon and Jessi … Good Hearted Woman by Waylon and Willie … Heaven or Hell by Willie … Yesterday’s Wine by Willie … T for Texas by Tompall Glaser … Put Another Log on the Fire (Make Chauvinist National Anthem) by Tompall and written by Shel Silverstein.
I was fortunate enough to meet Waylon in Vegas in the 90s, he talked to me and my Wife for about 20 minutes! Nicest Man you could ever meet! It was definitely the highlight of my Life!!! Been listening to Waylon since the 60s!!!
Waylon was to die for! His son,Shooter, has some great music as well. Waylon is on my wall, along with Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson,..and Rob Zombnie n Alice Cooper. I love them all.
Waylon was the best. He also played bass guitar for Buddy Holly on that final Winter Dance Party tour. Waylon gave his seat on the airplane to The Big Bopper. Waylon's son Shooter Jennings, grandson Whey Jennings, and step grandson Struggle Jennings are all performers. Also his wife Jessie Colter. th-cam.com/video/RagI3-0UEYk/w-d-xo.html Medley of Buddy Holly Hits by Waylon Jennings.
My top three favorite Waylon songs are "Rose in Paradise", "Drinkin' and Dreamin'", and "Ladies Love Outlaws". Another duet to check out is "The Conversation" with Hank, Jr.
Waylon’s Album he produced The Outlaws album is the 1st country album to ever go platinum. Two years later he was the 1st country artist to have a triple platinum album
Waylon was a badass. He did things HIS way in Nashville when they told him it wouldn't sell and wouldn't be popular. They were very wrong. To understand how other legends thought of him, listen to Hank Jr sing The Eyes of Waylon. Powerful.
There are a lot of great Waylon songs. Some of my favorites are "Honky Tonk Heroes", "Dreaming My Dreams", and "It's Not Supposed To Be That Way". Love your reactions.
There was nothing like seeing Waylon live. Growing up in Texas you could find Waylon in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area as well as Austin. If you were lucky Willie would be there, too. He did a wonderful show on Austin City Limits back in about '89 that is very enjoyable to watch.
Side note Waylon was suppose to be on the plane that buddy holly the big bopper and Richie Valens crashed in but one of them needed to get back quick so he gave up his seat
Waylon was way, way, waisted in this particular tapping. He was always high in the 70’s but usually he got all the words right and was much tighter than what you see here. I loved him no matter what shape he was in, I wasn’t much less messed up myself back then.

Waylon Jennings wrote nearly all his own songs about his own life..... ❤❤
Don't forget Johnny Cash, Merel Haggard
Billy Joe wasn't on the Wanted Outlaws album. Just Waylon, Jessi, Willie, and Tompall. This was the first platinum record in Nashville.

Waylon was a tough ole boy who the ladies really loved. He could fight too.

Anything by Waylon Jennings is fantastic. "I've always been crazy" is a great one.
My favorite country singer. I have a double CD by him and it is fantastic. Another fabulous singer that left us too soon.

Absolutely love all your reactions sir. Greetings from Oklahoma.
Fellow Okie!
My favorite song by Waylon is Only Daddy That'll Walk The Line!❤
The Highway Men were my guys back in the 70's in my biker and bar 20's, grew out of most of that but the music lingers with me.
“Ain’t Living Long Like This,” “Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way,” and “Only Daddy That’ll Walk The Line” are 3 good ones. Real Outlaw Country.
Waylon was the 1st concert I attending 1980!
WJ= 🎸Hero

So true - at one point, he almost falls over sideways
waylon was THAT guy.
He learned from buddy Holly, so yeah alot of rock and roll , different influences
Waylon is just us old folks
Just to clarify, Shooter Jennings is his son and Struggle is his step-son.
I think Struggle is his grandson? I think he called Shooter "Uncle"?? I maybe wrong.?
Shooter is his youngest son and Struggle is his step-grandson. Whey Jennings is his grandson and has some awesome songs.
I’d have left every single person place or thing I knew back then just to wash his drawers. No lie.
Picture is backwards he was right handed
Classic. My dad LOVED this guy
