    There is no "bad" place to start with Waylon Jennings, man. Waylon is absolutely fantastic. Although most people discovered Waylon as being the balladeer for the TV show The Dukes of Hazzard, he was a country music legend way before that. Country music royalty, if tou will. And, for good reason.

    I saw Waylon in concert about a year before his passing and it was 2 hours of music and story telling of his Outlaw days of the 60's, 70's and 80's. I grew up listening to Outlaw Country Music like, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Kris Kirstoferson, Hank Williams Jr., Merle Haggard and many more. They broke away from that super refined Nashville sound. It takes me back to my youth, such good times.

    Waylon is a legend. One of the "Outlaws". If you saw the "Dukes of Hazzard" TV show, he performed the theme song and narrated the episodes.
    "Luckenbach, Texas (Back To The Basics Of Love)" and "Amanda" also cover the musician's life in a gentler way.

      I'm very surprised that most people knew he sang the Dukes of Hazzard song, but don't realized he was the narrarator for the show! He said it was the easiest money he ever made!! He said sometimes he just done it on the bus and mailed it to them! lol Sounds Like Waylon!! 🎤🎸❤

    I appreciate all of Waylon’s songs. Some are slow, some are fast, but they all tell a story. “Luchenbach,TX” is one of his more popular songs. Also “momma’s don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys “ featuring Willie Nelson.

    Not only is Waylon Jennings a Country legend, he was also involved in the early days of Rock and Roll. He famously toured as bassist for Buddy Holly after the Crickets broke up.

    Waylon played guitar for Buddy Holly. Waylon and Johnny Cash roomed in Nashville along with Kris Kristofferson. They shared songs and drugs and booze. He lived hard and he lived fast. He was an "outlaw" in that he (along with the likes of Willie Nelson, Tompall Glasser, Kris Kristofferson, Rita Coolidge, and others) shunned the Nashville music machine for being too rigid in the style of "Country" they wanted to produce. He was one of a kind and Texas' (my home) music scene adored them all and embraced them. Whether you "react" or not, if you want to enjoy more try out "Bob Wills Is Still The King," "Wurlitzer Prize," "Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way?"

    with over 60 albums. And was

    Waylon Jennings was where outlaw country began. Him & his wife Jessie Coulter, Hank Williams jr, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, kris kristofferson etc...Kris was mostly a song writer for a lot of people. I think your next one should be Waylon Jennings...Outlaw Bit!!

    • @jewls9697
      @jewls9697 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was in his later years. I believe he had Diabetes here. Also, in this concert he does a duet with his wife Jessi Coulter called Honkey Tonk Angels. She also used to play keyboard & sing back-up for Waylon. Try Only Daddy That'll Walk the Line. They all look sooo young! But something you should definitely check out Waylon Jennings on the Rosie O'Donnell show. He's older here too. He plays a song called Kissing You Goodbye. Then he joins her for a quick interview about his book & you understand him a little more. If you can't do a reaction, I still think you would enjoy it. It's really not that long. Definitely worth it!!

    Waylon was in Buddy Holly's band. He gave up his seat on the plane that crashed on February 3rd, 1959, killing Buddy Holly and three others. The day the music died. ... When Jennings told Holly that he was going to take the bus, Holly jokingly told him he hoped the bus broke down, to which Jennings replied, “I hope your ol' plane crashes". He said that it took him a long time to get over that. Course they were just kids really.

    A "different" place to start with Waylon is when he sings with Anita Carter (Johnny Cash's sister-in-law). They do a Kris Kristofferson song, "No One's Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone." You might do this to react to Waylon's voice in this song but also to react to the incomparable voice of Anita Carter. In Johnny Cash's song "Were You There" Anita is the one with the beautiful high voice that sings, "Ohhhhh, sometimes it causes me to tremble" and then June and Anita and Mother Maybelle and Johnny all come in with the word "tremble" each person going a bit lower and then they all join in to sing "were you there when they crucified my Lord?". BEAUTIFUL song and I think it owes a great deal to the part that Anita sings. She could have won many awards but she never wanted to sing lead, she was quite happy and even preferred to just sing harmony with someone else.

    Love, Love, Love Waylon Jennings! This was late in his career. I think at this point he was dealing with diabetes. Not positive. You should try Outlaw Bit!! Or...anything Waylon has done!! You know he didn't just do the song for The Dukes of Hazzard, he did all the narrating of the show too. Said it was the easiest money he ever made! Sometimes he would do the narrating on the bus & mail it in! lol Waylon, Hank jr & George Jones were always famous for doing goofy little things just to entertain. Pull their hats down, change lyrics or add to them or even make funny faces. Only Bocephus is left and I bet ole George knew nobody could fill their shoes! R.I.P to all the great country singers!!
