Mate I'm a white Geezer in London 'England' Myself and my friends were big fans of the Gap Band back in the day, this still gets played at our parties & get togethers 😎👌
This song was more popular in the black community than "Early In The Morning" and "You Dropped The Bomb On Me". This is one of my all time favorites....you should also check out "Yearning For Your Love".
@@Skeezer66 that song reminds me of my friend high school! I can't hear it without laughing and thinking her! I said, Oops, up-side side your head, said Oops upside your head!!!
******** Front Man CHARLIE WILSON [often called Uncle Charlie] is Still Here, having done Collabs with Boyz II Men & Smokey Robinson. They named their Band after their TULSA Streets of Greenwood, Archer & Pine.
The GAP BAnd is always good. Yearning for Your Love, Humpin’, Early in the Morning, Shake your Booty etc. Plenty of funk. Plenty of soul. Plenty of fire!
The Gap Band had a string of funky soul hits in the late seventies/early eighties! The lead singer, Charlie Wilson, is still making amazing new music and touring!❤❤
“Outstanding “ is the quintessential must have on repeat play . It’s just the best groove and it’s a appropriate anytime of the year for all occasions. I would recommend “ Yearning For Your Love”… enjoy
YES!!!!! You just reacted to their best song, in my opinion!!!! The PERFECT jam skate song 🛼 The runner up that you may want to react to is “OOPS UPSIDE YOUR HEAD” 🔥🔥🔥
Taking me back to the days I would spin this tune during those Sunday afternoon BBQ's . Nothing like a slow jam to get you into a peaceful state of mind.
My siblings and I were playing cards the other night; my brother in law is the DJ on card night; this came on and my brother and I were singing this full tilt 😂❤️
This song is always in my playlist. Back in the 90's, when we all had answering machines hooked up to our landline phones, the beginning of this song was the background of my outgoing message.
Miss these times, going out and everyone getting along all night long. Dancing till sunrise like vampires. Eating at Dennys and sleeping half the day. Yearning for your love another great jam.
This is my favorite Gap Band song! And it really epitomizes the ‘80s R&B that I LOVED. Hail WKYS radio out of D.C. back in the day! Renee and Angela, Midnight Star, Kashif, Confunkshun, etc. So many great songs. ❤ P.S. Yearning for Your Love should be next!
One group that you guys need to react to is Shalamar, from the eighties. They are an R&B/pop group who have many great, great songs. Trust me you will like and even love their music once you start listening to their catalogue. Start with 'I can make you feel good, A night to remember, make that move, there it is, The second time around. I'm telling you they are awesome and you will love them. A couple of side notes. Jeffrey Daniel of Shalamar is the one who taught Michael Jackson how to do the 'Moonwalk and Jody Watley had a great solo career of her own after leaving Shalamar with hits like Looking for a New Love and Don't You Want Me, which are great songs as well. This music never gets old and it would be great for you guys to bring some additional exposure to them so that the younger folks can also appreciate more great music of the past that they haven't heard before.
This is one of my favorites! Another underrated but very popular one by them is Yearning For Your Love. The GAP Band consists of 3 brothers - Charlie, Robert and Ronnie, and all 3 are talented multi instrumentalists. Someone referred to Robert Wilson as the Godfather of the Bass Guitar. He kills it in every song. Charlie Wilson's lead vocals remain unparalleled to this day. "Uncle" Charlie Wilson and Ron Isley of The Isley Brothers are supposed to be doing a record together soon. Ron's vocals on the The Isley Brothers' popular song Voyage to Atlantis is hauntingly beautiful, so these 2 old school powerhouses on one new record will be outstanding! Love your reactions!
Funny, Rob got into it as soon as the drums started in the intro and Amber did as soon as she heard the voice! lol Ya'll are too cute! Love the GAP band!!!
R. Kelly, Aaron Hall, KC from Jodeci all got their vocal influence for Charlie Wilson. Gotta react to "Yearnin For Your Love" and "You Dropped A Bomb On Me"
Well, if you talk about country music we have Garth Brooks, Reba , Vince gill, Toby keith, Ronnie Dunn from Brooks and Dunn, not to mention Carrie Underwood and many more.
Charlie Wilson of the GAP Band has a successful solo career. Some of his recordings are, Charlie Last Name Wilson, There Goes My Baby, ( Might be Jays new song to Amber after he hears it. I'm sure t thats what he was thinking when he first saw her.) My Love Is All I Have and All My Love, featuring Smokey Robinson. (Didn't get much air play. But it deserves a reaction, simply because it's Charlie and Smokey)
Charlie Wilson from the Gap Band has a Contemporary Christian song called I'm Blessed that is soooo Wonderful that I recommend watching &/or listening to!
Y'all gotta do Oops Upside Your Head. They are on some serious Parliament funk with that one and then try Yearning For Your Love for their smooth R&B side.
Please, Jay, as for Tulsa guys, the man who IS The Tulsa Sound, JJ Cale, and never forget Jim Keltner (Buster Sidebury) the best session drummer ever. Always loved The G.A.P. Band, thanks bud
Check out the YOU TUBE videos of Leon Russell playing LIVE at his Church Studio in Tulsa with the GAP Band! They were on his record label, Shelter Records and recorded there. Other famous Tulsans? Garth Brooks, Roy Clark, Elvin Bishop, Hanson, JJ Cale, Jamie Oldaker, David Teegarden ( former member of Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band!!) Admiral Twin, Ronnie Dunn & Dwight Twilley to name a few!
Love their slow jam. You Dropped A Bomb on Me, Oops Upside Yo Head. Sometimes you just gotta dance. This was big at the roller rink. Thanks again for the smile.
Man, this is one of my favorite songs of all time, and when you both broke down all the things I love about this song, it damn near brought tears to my eyes.
Definitely a jam! And I believe Early In The Morning is on the same album, y'all need to react to that one next! Sad that Charlie Wilson is the last of the brothers, he's had a stellar solo career. Also check out the longform version of I Don't Believe You Wanna Get Up and Dance (Oops!), That's a monster jam.
this was a very influential jam that basically started the whole 'swing beat' thing. A much underrated track of theirs which nobody has ever reacted to, is 'Don't Leave Me'.
So glad you two are reviewing this song. This was a MONSTER hit on the R&B charts back in the day. It was a party jam for sure. This was sampled in about 98 songs (so far) by other artists. Some examples were, "Every Little Thing I Do" by Soul For Real, "Blow Your Mind" by Redman, "Inside of Me" by Madonna, "Goldeneye" (Urban Mix) by Tina Turner.
Y'all really need to listen to some Bar-Kays. They were around in the '60s, but I know them best by their '70s & '80s songs: Freakshow On The Dance Floor ('84), Too Hot To Stop ('76), Shake Your Rump To The Funk ('76). Love the R&B from this era. I'll throw in Prince's Thieves in The Temple ('90) for your next Prince reaction. A bit later than your most recent song (You've Got the Look '87) so a totally different sound and look.
Definitely a GAP band classic! This song got sampled in 1995 for the song "Every Little Thing I Do" by Soul For Real, which you should also check out. Going back to '80s funk/R&B songs, take a listen to "Don't stop the Music" by Yarbrough and Peoples.
Amber & Jordan, The Gap Band 1970's & 1980's Funk Band n their lead singer is Charlie Wilson with his 2 brothers Ronnie & Robert. Rip Ronnie & Robert!!! I'm gonna give u all their great hits that U guys need to react. 1)Party Train (My Favorite); 3)Burn Rubber On Me (Why U Wanna Hurt Me); 4)Who Do You Call; 5)Beep A Freak; 7)Oops Upside Your Head; 8)Humpin; 9)I Found My Baby; 10)Shake; 11)Yearning For Your Love. Amber & Jordan Check them out, u guys will not be disappointed.

R.I.P to my father Robert Wilson Godfather of Bass and Uncle Ronnie Wilson of The Gap Band ❤❤❤
Real cool dudes. I met them once back when they were on tour and stopped through SC.
******** Front Man CHARLIE WILSON [often called Uncle Charlie] is Still Here, having done Collabs with Boyz II Men & Smokey Robinson. They named their Band after their TULSA Streets of Greenwood, Archer & Pine.
This is the jam! Y'all are going to love this! Charlie Wilson the lead singer is a vocal beast! This will be Jay's anthem to Amber! 😁🔥🔥🔥🔥
That's UNCLE Charlie!
@@bergiefbaby That's right Uncle Charlie! 😁
3 months late but I have known this song for years and I never knew that was Charlie Wilson. WOW!
Yearning For Your Love is my favorite.
Early in The Morning and You Dropped A Bomb On Me are two great Gap Band songs to rock out to!
My fav "Seasons No Reason To Change"😊
8:16 Someone took their time and phonically isolated every single drum individually.
damm that was some OUTSTANDING engineering.
Good call out! This song is just so dynamic from top to bottom.
Yearning for you're love. The ultimate slow jam from the gap band. Basslines 🔥
♥
The GAP BAnd is always good. Yearning for Your Love, Humpin’, Early in the Morning, Shake your Booty etc. Plenty of funk. Plenty of soul. Plenty of fire!
The gap band - yearning for your love . Has to be next amazing song by them
Agreed.

You may have heard Kenny Thomas's version in the 90,s ..another great artist with many cover versions
I used to listen that album each morning before getting up, whilst on holidays from work. They always have a summer vibe
Watching both of you feel this song I would have loved to have seen y'all get up and dance with each other

Keb Mo "Dirty Lowdown and Bad ", "Am I Wrong ", "She Just Wants to Dance ".
Outstanding is the voice of Charlie Wilson ❤. I used to dance my feet bloody when they played Oops, Uups .... 😅
