Practice ,practice, practice...and then ...more practice...like anything in life to be proficient...you must immerse yourself consistently daily...just as you handle utensils daily to eat...you must be as consistent and then you will begin to peel wood away as efficiently as you eat your dinner....my best advice to

I just bought my first chainsaw, for simple yardwork at my camp. I was told not to use the tip of it because it could bounce back at you. How it is that are are able to use the tip of your saw?
Because the people that are telling you not to use tip ...dont know how to use it themselves...no different than telling an average joe off the street not to fly a a plane he knows nothing about... It is dangerous for the average person...it takes practice to use a dangerous tool in a safe way...your not just gona grab a chainsaw off the shelf and use it like somone who used them all there lives..particularly carving with one...practice a little at a time....get to understand a little about how a saw cuts...baby steps
