Chris you just blow me away my friend! Amazing to say the least! One day I hope to have you carve a Scotsman playing a bagpipe for me. No idea what that might run me! lol.
You are an amazing artist, Sir. I have no idea what is wrong with the 14 people who gave this a thumbs down. Thank you for sharing your skill and passion.
And thk you for your support much appreciated Yea its funny how the thumbs up thumbs down Works..cuz its anonymous one never knows...I think sometimes could be accidental one does it quick and they think there Giving me a thumbs up And hit the other by accident...or I guess I have enemies out there or maybe somone has legit gripe about my work but Am curious but unfortunately I never get chance to find out God bless
Dude, this is some awesome stuff!!! You need more likes and viewers! Im sending this to my friends buddy! (I also want to wood carve myself even though I am only almost 13)
Thks for your support much appreciated Yes am trying to grow my channel build my subscribers etc..so yes please subscribe to my channel for free and share
Great job loved watching you do that horse head I noticed your phone number had a 401 area code in there are you from Rhode Island originally I'm from Pawtucket Rhode Island myself I now live in California anyway proud to be a new subscriber to your channel look forward to other videos you produced great job
Yes grew up in Ri..burrillville...most of my family from pawtucket moved to CT 20 years ago 500 ft over the border from foster Rl line kept ri phone number etc Christopherlamontagne.com
very impressive and very beautiful work!! I am a new subscriber. Can I ask a question? can you talk about how you finish your carving? like sealing, staining if there's any, etc. Thanks!
For painted work and natural work everything is tool finish I dont use sandpaper thr only way I smooth surface of wood beyond tool finish is with a torch etc to burn off splitters and bar oil Then painted work is primed with.white latex house paint primer and followed up with latex colors that's it believer In simplicity natural work gets few coats of tungsten oil no magic ingrediants
Watching you work is therapy. I did not see you use a pattern or at any time mark or draw on your sculpture. I carve duck decoys and other smaller projects but I cannot do much without a pattern or reference material. What type of wood are you carving. I know your tools are sharp but that wood carves like butte and BTW please don't ever come looking for me with that chainsaw in your hands. You are deadly with that tool!
Thanks for your support if you have not already please subscribe to my channel The wood is eastern white pine and my tools are kept like razors all the time And I do make study drawing first as you see in beginning of film but rarely need to use a pattern I am scrawl a few refference lines on a block but for most part dont need to I occasionally will glance over at my study sketch while working but once I have the concept in my brain I am on auto pilot etc
That's a beautiful piece of wood as you carve it one can see little real grain pattern! So smooth - almost like marble. Is this Eastern White Pine? Great carving and good example how carve a horse head. Grain becomes apparent in the finish though. 🖕
Yes it is eastern white pine it is plentiful here in CT and a good wood for painted work etc thks for watching my channel your support is appreciated please share my channel with others🙏
Just curious, are you related to that carver I saw years back who did the life size sculptures of Larry Bird and the Indian on the Woodcraft magazine? I think his name was Armand LaMontagne. Regardless, you do beautiful work.

Another example of your amazing genius as a master sculpture artist. How often do you sharpen your chisels to keep such a sharp edge.
I sharpen them when they need it could be as often as every 10 minutes to keep the edge that want key words.. as needed
