  • Hello Adventurers!
    Today's video is brought to you from Shell Island, Wales. We took a much needed week day break to one of our favourite family Campsites in Wales. It has around 350 acres of camping that varies in terrian. From Sandy pitches, to grass fields or the shady trees. Shell Island has a lot to offer, personally we go when its "off season" or mid week (no school holiday) because we enjoy very much the wild, tranquil, natural side of the campsite.
    The beaches are long, sandy and have rock pools. The ocean is beautiful and wraps around the island like a glove when the tides are in. Loads of wildlife to spot on land and in the ocean with Mountainous views all around.
    Hope you enjoy peeking inside this beautiful campsite.

    I know someone whose daughter has a phobia of dogs due to some bad experiences. Off lead dogs are a major trigger. Camping has been tricky for them as very few camp sites properly monitor or enforce rules about dogs being in leads. They went to one this year that had a dogs on leads rule and even the reception lady walked them to their pitch with the site's own dog following her off the lead! That was very stressful for their daughter. Thank you for sticking to the rules!
    I bet the owners of those dogs that charged you just laughed. They never see it as a problem.

      Its always sad to hear about people having bad experiences with dogs. They often lead to long term problems like phobias and anxieity. I do hope she eventually recovers to like dogs again. My dogs and I have been attacked (luckily nothing too serious) a few times whilst out on walks (I carry a collapsable trekking pole now) At the end of the day, dogs are still wild at heart & I feel they should be kept on leashes when out in the public, but thats just my view. I pay to use a paddock in the countryside which has been fenced off especially for dogs to run free. The first time I took my dogs and unhooked their leads, they didnt know what to do! 😂 It was a beautiful sight to see them playing and running in the paddock. Safe for them, safe for me and safe for the live stock 😊 Thank you for your comment, stay safe, well and enjoy the outdoors 🥰

      It gets a little too busy summer time for my dogs. They are rescues and dont like to be in busy places. Hopefully we will go back before the season ends. 🏕🏕

      Its towards the back of the site, heading towards the back gates to the airfield. Lots of tree coverage, wildlife and sheltered from the winds.

    can you camp anywhere you want to? that was a great spot you had

      Hello. Yes, the camping area is aprox 350 acres. Once youve booked into reception upon arrival, you can then just drive around the site looking for your perfect campimg spot. Lots to choose from, sandy, grassy, sea views, sand dunes, tree cover. Make sure to check the tide times on their website (esturey crossing). 😊

      thanks, just undecided if it's for me, i hear mixed reports about it.

    • @deeAndCoOutdoors
      @deeAndCoOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      And those mixed reports are proberly correct. We only go to Shell Island when its "off season, or mid week", Its quiet and very peaceful. However, if you go in School holiday, bank holidays and weekends it extremely busy! It really depends on what type/kind of camping you enjoy. For us, our child is heading towards 30yrs old so we go when its quiet 😂😉
      Ive never coped well with crowds anyway, so I always look for the quieter camp sites. I hope this info helps you, as it really is a beautiful place. To be fair, my short video doesnt really do this camp site justice. Its just we always head for the secluded spots, set up and chill out enjoying nature 💚💙

      @@deeAndCoOutdoors hello just wanted to say what a fantastic video. I thoroughly enjoyed that🙏 like many others around the country I absolutely love Shell Island 🏝️ and I couldn’t have put it any better myself as regards to you saying the best time to go is off season. It’s one of the most beautiful places in our country, however, weekends, bank holidays, any functions, the island attracts too many chavs inconsiderate, people, aggressive rude, which all they want to do is get drunk and take drugs, which is a shame as they could do this in the own town without ruining it for other people. I’ve always said March April the beginning of May and then October is the best time to be there such a beautiful peaceful place which a lot of people have so many happy memories there. Thanks once again for sharing your video, I thoroughly enjoyed it. All the best take care 🙌🙌

      Hello! Sorry, I've just seen your wonderful comment. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. I couldn't agree with you more about Shell Island. It's perfect for nature lovers, but only when it's off-season or mid-week 😜
      I'm hoping to get back before the end of May & avoiding the bank holidays. We've been so busy with work, and this terrible weather we've still not yet been this year! ☹️
      Again, thank you for watching and commenting. Have a fabulous day 😁
