Thank you, Davy!! Every Head probably feels very dialed in and firmly on the bus when the old standards like this play!! I know I do!! It’s like the stealie on my guitar starts to glow lol
That was a fabulous lesson! I believe that there is a currently untapped market of 50 something year old guys like me...who will never be in a band but who are home with a looper and want to be able to play passable versions of these tunes with a little riff...a little lead etc. A step up from campfire strumming. I'm fully in if you produce that shit. Take my money and my gratitude.
your lessons are the perfect amount of info, making sure we learn the stuff you need to, while also leaving the right parts open for letting us figure it out. plus solid dead history every time
HOLY SHIT MAN!!!! I DONE IT! I REALLY DONE IT! BY GOD! I wish you could've been there in the room with me. I just did the intro riff and jammed an E chord did the intro riff and jammed an A chord but man I was going down that old road. Bless you Toby. Tell me a story, papa :)
Great lesson. The dedication and devotion to the craft is obvious. And the material is... wait for it....Understandable! I don't have to stand on my head and take dexies to actually follow what dude is saying!!!!
Oh man! I've been trying to get past just playing open chords for so long thinking it was some secret language I would never understand. After watching a few of your videos and relearning how to play some songs I kinda knew, tonight it finally happened. Thank you!!!
That walk up you do to the C#min is just fricken beautiful. Love the videos and the jams man! Keep it up! So many Dead covers miss that Jerry chromatic walkups to chords.
I love that walk up. It's fascinating how the Dead were able to write so many songs in E that sound very different thanks to the use of chromatics and embelishments
I was lookin for an old blues version original acoustic and you popped up ! Whhoooooa..! Different to an ol fogey but hey you can play that eclectic electric for sure..enthralled was I ...and I am bushed...will try your lesson on my old acoustical apparatus (all I have anyway) so many thanks...As I am new to yr pages can you advise what that guitar is please, as I am unable to read the headstock (did I see cardinal series ? ) but nothing else...and I need new glasses ...THANKS..
Goin where the climate suits my clothes!!! Since it’s 🥶. Thanks so much, I’ve been looking for a tutorial of this for years. Another one of my favs. Now I can play it! And that feels so good.
So for me the thing this year was to move from using the pick to dropping the pick for the rhythm part and doing it the way Jerry does getting that thumb action rolling.... I start to mess it up and merge it will a Loose Lucy fingerpick by mistake all the time cause it isn't that much different.
the story is that delaney bramlett (?) of delaney & bonnie introduced it to the dead on the festival express trans-canada train tour july 1970... check out the film it's incredible...
About a month or two ago I discovered Delaney&Bonnie for myself, and since then it has lead to a treasure trove of good music from mid to late 60's to early 80's. Primarily the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. Them boys are my new favorite band by God.
Hey man, I'm missing something. Somehow it doesn't work out as far as the timing goes. It's like, you hit the E note on the D string twice before going back down. I swear there's a note missing. Do you play the B note on the A string twice as well?
Good lesson, informative and accurate. I just can’t subscribe given your free use of f bombs and other tacky things you drop at times. Why? It makes a whole potential audience of yours walking away and shaking their heads.
This content is great. The focus on the left and right hand combined with clear tab is genius. Thank you!!!

Those chromatic movements are absolutely necessary

@@TobyDavvy Jerry isn't Jerry without his chromatics lol

“Mmkay guys that’s all I got for today” 😂

Nice one brother. I’ve been playing this like Big Railroad Blues for years. Thanks for setting me straight! You killed the solo btw.🤙🏻
‘Preciate you being part of the fam, Mike!

Davvy, after the walk up to C#m what kind of C#m is that? is it off of an E shape?

his festive colored jacket looks like something fucking bobby would have worn in the 80s.
you grateful dead people are built different lol but I need to learn this song
Show Jerry's finger style picking...nice interpretation but you should show rhe finger style jer picking
No
I love the irony of the subliminal 420s.

@@TobyDavvy thanks for peaceful reply. No need to get into a flame war, right? I wish you the best and I’ll check by on occasion. Take care, man ✌️🎸
It’s all love over here on T&D. We may have foul mouths but we have golden hearts. We will see you around, homie.
