There are very few albums out there that EVERY song is Great...this is one of them., Off the top of my head...After the Goldrush, Tapestry and Blue (Joni)
This song makes me think of a woman I used to wait on in my early food service days. She struggled with schizophrenia and always asked for a table in my section. She tipped me very well and I wasn't sure exactly why till the day she said, while leaving: "Thanks for treating me like a person and not just rolling your eyes like most everybody else." I can still see her sad, gentle eyes these 43 years later. 😥
"This is a song about me," lead singer Adam Duritz said of this song on Counting Crows VH1 Storytellers appearance. Said Duritz: "The song begins with a guy walking out the front door of his house and leaving behind this woman. But the more he begins to leave people behind in his life, the more he feels like he's leaving leaving himself behind as well, and the less substantial he feels about himself. That's sort of what the song's about: even as he disappears from the lives of people, he's disappearing more and more from his own life."
I was going through extreme depression in highschool in the 90s. This song was a huge part of my experience as a teenager. It really spoke to me at the time.
Yesss! One that I love so much, especially when I need a good cry, is Raining In Baltimore. I listened to that song daily for 2 years while my husband was away in the military.
I took my daughter and nieces to see them in 2015 and they sounded amazing live! It blew us all away and the girls even liked it so much they learned the lyrics so they could jam out on the ride home.
I've never seen them live but my good friend Ray Duke (RIP) was the biggest Rolling Stones fan I ever met. He saw Counting Crows in Denver one time with a bunch of other bands and came back praising just how well the Crows play together live. Great music, and always brings up good memories of at least one friend gone too soon.
I had never listened to Anna Begins before, and I went to check it out after reading your comment. All I can say is thank you. I have absolutely fallen in love with the song!
I have seen the them live. They are such great story tellers. That is what makes a live show so great. If you have a chance to see them live, I suggest you do it because you will experience a really great show.
I always think of June 1994 when my uncle picked me up at the airport in Madrid , Spain. It transports me back to graduating high school and going to visit family for one of the last times.
Some people don’t know this but the lead singer of counting crows (before he was famous ) worked at the viper club and was there the night River Phoenix died.
He also dated Jennifer Aniston. That isn't anything relevant but this is an attempt to shed light on those whom seem "wholesome" there is sad things related to everyone
I love the Counting Crows. I highly recommend thier Lp August and Everything after, Hard Candy and Desert life. Singers nane is Adam Duritz. Hes such a unique voice and way of song writing. In 90s - early 2000s I devoured them. Alas, as you grow & change other music replaced them. Theyre on my top 20 list.
Adam uses “Maria” as a stand in for an imaginary female version of himself, especially in August and Everything After. He was diagnosed with a dissociative disorder (he often feels disconnected from the world) and that fuels his really deep introspection. August is among my all time favorite albums. Highly recommend the album as well as Recovering the Satellites and This Desert Life.
Early Counting Crows are my joint. They keep the music fluid and weave in and out of emotions as their songs grow. Their songs don't die, they change em up like getting them dressed fo different meals in different places.
This was one of my mom's favorite bands... and I haven't listened to them since she died. I needed this. Thank you :) My favorite song of theirs is Colorblind. Give it a listen sometime.
His voice draws me in to the story. I like that and I don't know if I remember hearing them before. This is a song that you hear something new every time you listen.!I love it
This is one of the best albums I've owned. Pretty much every song is fantastic, it takes me back to being a teenager when I was trying to discover who I was.
Love you. This whole album means so much to me. It isn’t a happy song. For me it reminds me of my 20s with different groups of friends. We were all trying to find our way. Some never grew or changed. I had to move on. Unfortunately in my early 30s married a guy who was uncalled of change or growth. Or empathy. Or fidelity. Haha. Happily married now but it took me 49 years to get where I needed to me. “Murder of One” of this same album was no is my mantra.
I Love the video for this song!!! It is awesome and Adam has some great facial expressions. He's just so damn Beautiful and so wicked talented!! Adam's voice is so unique and gorgeous!!
This is that album that has stood the test if time and life.i know ive bought it atleast 8 times over the last nearly 30 years. Coming from a tragic home life, drugs & alcohol consumed my parents but music was my escape. Murder of One is my favorite from the album. The feeling of being the only one feeling this way but knowing i wasn't. Thank God i knew i wasnt alone.
One of the things my parents almost always did when they got home from work (after making sure my brother & I hadn’t burned anything down) was to make some coffee, go to the living room & talk with each other for around an hr. This was after their 30 minute ride home together on most days. It’s always stuck with me how much effort they put into keeping their marriage good. Being an absolutely horrible teen, I’m sure a lot of that time was spent discussing what to do with me, which I still feel guilty about all these years later.
Holy sugar honey ice tea! Never knew you reacted to this and I always loved your music reactions with JoJo and comedy with Nya 🙏 and of course your perspective, with your experiences on current happenings x2🙏
The live version Pinkpop is beautifull. And check out there live at show 2 meter sessies Amsterdam Paradiso. Adam is doing a amazing performance from “a long december “ at piano.
"Corn vibes"...🤣🤣🤣 I could never put it in words that perfectly but that's exactly what it is! You need to listen to "Omaha" off the same album. You can do any song off that album and none will disappoint. 💯
This album August And Everything After, was on a loop in my car cassette player in College. It actually got stuck in there, I played it so much. BOSS ALBUM! Nothing else like it- you should check out Omaha, Perfect Blue Buildings and Raining In Baltimore. You're probably thinking Korn because of Adam's dreadlocks. He's an artiste,100%. Anyway- Thems were the days! Glad you stumbled on Counting Crows Van. Excellent music... 🎯🤘
He's really good friends with Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20. The vocalist has dissociative disorder. I didn't know that until later when I came across a video
This Album,, "August And Everything After" Is Excellent From The First Song To The Very Last..Truth!!
FACTS

Adam duritz is one of the greatest lyricist of the last 30 year’s. Fact!
I was going through extreme depression in highschool in the 90s. This song was a huge part of my experience as a teenager. It really spoke to me at the time.
Oh man, this takes me back! I had this album in high school and college. So many memories wrapped up in it!
I love this. Counting Crows is a great band.
'Long December' is also very strong.
Mr. Jones is an absolute must! Adam also has a cooking channel on TH-cam and it’s really good stuff!
I recently saw him make some baked buttermilk chicken🙂
Iirc, it was on the Counting Crows TH-cam channel.
Counting Crows "Rain King"...Nuff Said.
Facts.
Rain king is the shit. I agree.
Yes. Great tune.
Yesss! One that I love so much, especially when I need a good cry, is Raining In Baltimore. I listened to that song daily for 2 years while my husband was away in the military.
Rain King, from VH1 storytellers. Top shelf music.
One of the greatest albums of all time … most of the tracks on it make me cry… beautiful music
I took my daughter and nieces to see them in 2015 and they sounded amazing live! It blew us all away and the girls even liked it so much they learned the lyrics so they could jam out on the ride home.
A truly truly beautiful song
Counting Crows have gotten me through some very very hard times. I love the way they just get it, when nobody else does.
Me, too. Adam understands.
I've never seen them live but my good friend Ray Duke (RIP) was the biggest Rolling Stones fan I ever met. Whole album is awesome, but would love to see a reaction to Anna Begins, probably my favorite song on the whole album.
Ugh, yes! Anna Begins is such a great song!
That one hits me right in the feels every time I hear it for the last....29 years....damn I'm old
@@ryanviningtube I know what you mean. That's what drew me to that song way back when it came out and I was in college... Yeah, we're both old
I listen to the WHOLE song just to get to "she's talking in her sleep; it's keeping me awake" and then the crescendo of the rest of the song...
I had never listened to Anna Begins before, and I went to check it out after reading your comment. All I can say is thank you. I have absolutely fallen in love with the song!
This whole album, you're doing all my jams lately!!! Please please please do Sullivan Street!!!
I have seen the them live. They are such great story tellers. That is what makes a live show so great. If you have a chance to see them live, I suggest you do it because you will experience a really great show.
yes, Adam has so much passion.. the band is amazing and follows Adam whenever he may go. I have seen them a few times live.
This song hits harder the older you get! 💯
I always think of June 1994 when my uncle picked me up at the airport in Madrid , Spain. It transports me back to graduating high school and going to visit family for one of the last times.
One of the last times? Sorry to hear that.

WOW! I hadn't ever heard them. I will make an effort now! Thanks...Happy Monday!
Whichicallit. Definitely Maryland. Remind me of my relatives in South Baltimore.👍
Counting Crows "Anna Begins"
Their best song.
Haven’t heard this in 25 years. Thanks!
I love these types of older jams bands. Such a great chill vibe.

This is in my top 3 all time favorite bands and in my top 5 favorite songs ❤️ I can listen to counting Crows all day long
Early Counting Crows are my joint. They keep the music fluid and weave in and out of emotions as their songs grow.
Their songs don't die, they change em up like getting them dressed fo different meals in different places.
This song is amazing. The more you hear it, the more you’ll like it.
One of my top 30 songs ever. Takes me back to a very specific moment in time in the early 90’s.
One of my favorite bands from my high school days. Love Adam Duritz’s voice so much.
One of the best records of the 90s, August and everything after.
This was one of my mom's favorite bands... and I haven't listened to them since she died. I needed this. Thank you :)
My favorite song of theirs is Colorblind. Give it a listen sometime.
Sweet jam right here ❤
Long December is my favorite Counting Crows song. This song is my second favorite.

Oh God I love 90s music

One of the best opening lines to a song ever, IMHO.
Your a good man my brother from Scotland 🏴🇺🇸

Dude, this song really hits the feels
THHHHHIIISSS song just hits in a certain way! A good way! I can't explain it! Love it! ❤
Never heard of them but love the easy vibe of this group. I love that you n your wife have at least an hour for y’all. Be blessed!
The live versions are extended and are even better. So much emotion in them
August and Everything After is a fantastic album front to back.
My FAVORITE SONG!!!
Oh at least an hour a day with the hubby. Talking to each other helps keep us growing together and in the right direction.
that first line...one of the best poetic lyrics ever.
As someone who almost exclusively listens to death metal, this has always been a favorite song of mine
I hear you about, spouse/sig.other.
Me & hubby talk lots. We've just had 22 awesome years! When it's good, it's the best ... we talk!
He's my love.😊

Parenting is hard… sometimes kids turn out great because of us, or in spite of us. Cheers to you mate! 🍻
Love this reaction ❤#HOG❤
I am mostly a metalhead but the first two albums from the Counting Crows are undeniably great.
I love this album!
This song 🖤
This whole album in fire!!! I saw them in concert right this CD came out. So good!!!!
Rain king , and Omaha incredible stuff.
It's the heart that matters more ❤

Love them the sound just hits right
I cried all the way through that song
Their big hit Counting Crows - Mr. Jones (Official Music Video) - TH-cam is another great one (guess it won't let me post the link). Peace, Love!
August and everything after is a great album I know every lyric to this album
BTW his jacket in their Mr Jones video is likely one of the most coveted clothing items in any video ever. Song is fire too.
You'd like "Long December" by Counting Crows too. Same kind of vibe.
And "Mr Jones" is probably their best known song.
"Corn vibes"...🤣🤣🤣 I could never put it in words that perfectly but that's exactly what it is! You need to listen to "Omaha" off the same album. You can do any song off that album and none will disappoint. 💯
I thought he meant Korn. I was so confused. Like I dunno about that. Never really got Korn vibes from counting crows lol
Counting Crows!!! Rain King is a great song also!
Hey bro check out mr. Jones by counting crows, it’s a lot faster pace and happier song but both great songs
A more upbeat song of theirs is Rain King. That song always gets me pumped and makes me smile.
This album August And Everything After, was on a loop in my car cassette player in College. It actually got stuck in there, I played it so much. BOSS ALBUM! Go see them live!
Love this song but if you are up to it, RUNAWAY TRAIN from SOUL ASYLUM is amazing
He's really good friends with Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20. The vocalist has dissociative disorder. I didn't know that until later when I came across a video
I love this song. "Murder of One" by the Counting Crows is my favorite though.
This is some pretty heavy stuff.
Long December and Mr Jones are a must
This album came out right before Korns first album
REMEDY-BLACK CROWES 💣💣💣
I always get a counting Crow vibe when I hear Corn🤣
Lol
This song speaks to your soul if you or someone you love experiences mental illness. Gut wrenching and powerful
