August and Everything After is genuinely one of the best albums of the 90s. Perfect from start to finish. I loved it so much and they are a great band.
I just got into vinyl recently and I was like "What are some albums where I like practically all the songs on the album?" and right away I realized I had to get August & Everything After and Recovering the Satellites. They are sooooo good
Always loved the line: "I wanna be Bob Dylan, Mr. Jones wishes he was someone just a little more funky." Also, I often imagine Mr. Jones as the singer's alter ego after some alcohol. Loved the rewinding. Never gets old watchin' Maria cut up the dance floor.
Counting Crows and 'Mr. Jones' was HUGE back in the day. It is hard not to sing along. My favorite songs are A Long December and Big Yellow Taxi, a cover of a Joni Mitchell song.
I have LOVED this song since it first came out & love it still. I am glad that you did too. It is the music, his vocals, his emotion & the end of it - the REAL end of it. "Mr. Jones & me, ...We're gonna be,... big stars." - & THEY GOT THERE. Hope & redemption. It can't get anymore beautiful than that.
I'm an old man, I've been listening to music since the early 60's. Literally, thousands of songs. This is in my top 10 of all time. Fantastic reaction, young man!
Watch the video of Round here!!!!! They are awesome. Still touring. He sounds the same. He also did a piano version of my favorite song Long December live on Jimmy Kimmel show during Covid that broil me to tears!!! They were my band in HS. But staying power. Mr. Jones never goes out of style!! ❤❤❤✌️
About a year ago on Jimmy Kimmel show, I saw and heard a beautiful performance by the lead singer, of Counting crows, just him (not the band) playing the piano (no other instruments) and his voice singing their song "Long December", it was just so profound, moving, poetic and beautifully raw, I had tears in my eyes...he is so talented, he just "has it" is all I can say.
I freaking love this song. Always have. It's like water simmering to a boil it builds and builds until the energy just overflows and you can't sit still
❤This is such a great band. Their cover version of Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi" is so good. I've seen them live so many times and they never disappointed. Keep digging in to them.... you will love it.
I was obsessed with this song in high school!! It was very unique at the time. L❤VE his specific timing on the down beats, makes me smile every time I hear it!
It's so much fun watching you discover this song. I bought the album on the day it was released, and I didn't go to classes at university for a week. The whole album is a masterpiece.
Wow 🤩 I haven’t heard this song in a long time!! Loved it!! Great reaction!! ♥️🎼👏🏻🎸 yep!! I remember the MTV music video awards, so fun to watch back then 😊
Yeah, that’s pretty much how I reacted the first time I heard this, too. The album was much the same way. I wore that shit out. Still know every word to every song-listened to it on repeat all through 1994. I played it on a road trip last summer and it was like no time had passed. Such a great album. You owe it to yourself to listen to the whole thing.💜💜
I just got into vinyl recently and I was like "What are some albums where I like practically all the songs on the album?" and right away I realized I had to get August & Everything After and Recovering the Satellites. They are so good.
wow I fekkin love your reaction to this, reminds of when i first heard them. My love for them went on for the past 25 years until this day. Hope you get to listen to Anna Begins & Round here soon.
"Omaha", "Perfect Blue Buildings", "Daylight Fading", "I'm Not Sleeping", "Have You Seen Me Lately?" And those are just the first good ones that come to mind
Their song/video "Round here" is a must to react to. Adam Duritz has such a way with words, a Master with them. He's an Incredible Poet and so Fricken Talented!! I Love his voice!! Adam is unapologetically himself and such a Legend!!
This was one of my favourite songs to dance to in the bar back in the 90s.. as was Lenny Kravitz's song "Are you gonna go my way'. Couldn't keep me off the dance floor when either of those songs were played. Good times. :D
One of my favorite songs of all times. I was born in the 80’s but I’m 100% a 90’s alt kid when it comes to music and Counting Crows was is a huge favorite to this day.
At the time this came out I was about 26 and had a friend of mine that was about 38. We would go to a bar now and then and this song seemed like us. lol. He was Mr. Jones.
Oh man, you made my day! This was my jam, i was in high school when this came out and i wrote out the entire lyrics on my desk. Loved when you skipped back to the beginning, without saying anything and getting into the song again. Thats how i was the first time i heard it to. Great reaction and i would suggest listening to the entire album, its a classic.
Really fun to watch you react to one of my fav all time bands. If you’re interested, they have a pretty deep vault. August and Everything After and Recovering the Satellites are just two of the great albums they have released. They’re known for their live performances, and the different live mixes…would love to hear you react to more! Also, I first found you here because of your great reactions to my very fav band of all time, Rush.
I was 16 just got my license. This cd practically never left my car radio. Such a great album. I voted for this on Patreon and I really hope this is a clip from the album reaction. Just a great band and album
The album is TlTS!! It is has the "it" factor...something magical was stirred into the mix while creating this masterpiece. Note that a somewhat similar and also great album from that same time is 'New Miserable Experience' by THE GIN BLOSSOMS. Eat your heart out with those 2 classic 90's albums!! Both very strong albums, and nearly every song on them is great. And what phenomenal video to "Mr. Jones"?! Thus, all the stars were aligned and the song was huge...and rightfully so! Some music ages like wine...
This band is killer i remember when they first came out back in the 90's I was a teen and had to buy this album for this song and then learned there were other great songs on that album like Round Here and a few others
The August and everything after album, and its very underrated follow up recovering the satellites, are both excellent. Immaculately produced, unique sound, whip-smart lyrics, bangers and ballads alike. Other songs to check out from this album will include round here, Anna begins, and my personal sleeper favorite, Sullivan Street
Love this one too! Everyone did. Still know all the lyrics lol! You'll listen until you know them all by heart, I'm fairly sure. :D Since you mentioned jangle pop- it is similar to power pop and that is a genre you should explore at some point. Jangle pop is treble forward/boosted guitar. Power pop includes that and also aggressive/energetic vocals and catchy melodic hooks. Power pop recognized first band was Badfinger from the UK and they have some well worth checking out. They were mentored by the Beatles and wrote Harry Nilsson's biggest hit Without You. They are probably the most tragic story in rock history. If you watched Breaking Bad, their song Baby Blue was played in the last scene of the finale. The US first recognized power pop was the Raspberries song Go All The Way. That song will stay in your head for two days. Eric Carmen wrote, sang and played guitar with the band, then after just a few years, went solo and had a few big hits of his own. He was a musical prodigy. Nick Lowe wrote and sang maybe the most perfect and catchiest power pop song called Cruel To Be Kind and it will stay in your head for a week! Hope you can get around to some power pop one of these days! :)
August and Everything After, VS by Pearl Jam and The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion by The Black Crowes are the 3 best albums of the 90's IMO. Brilliant!!
Neither had i. Been so interested in a song for a while when this came out. I bought the CD. I listened to every song. There are only a handful of CDs or albums i know of that i like every song. This may be the last one like that.
August and Everything After is genuinely one of the best albums of the 90s. Perfect from start to finish. I loved it so much and they are a great band.
Agreed. One hell of a debut!!
Every song on it is great
One of my top 5 all time albums.
I just got into vinyl recently and I was like "What are some albums where I like practically all the songs on the album?" and right away I realized I had to get August & Everything After and Recovering the Satellites. They are sooooo good
I AGREE ONE MILLION PERCENT !!! It is quite honestly the last perfect album I can remember - along with Parachutes by Coldplay
This entire album is perfect. Every song is exactly what it needs to be. Just keep doing every song on the album. They're all so good.
I AGREE ONE MILLION PERCENT !!! It is quite honestly the last perfect album I can remember - along with Parachutes by Coldplay
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love this song still to this day💯
Always loved the line: "I wanna be Bob Dylan, Mr. Jones wishes he was someone just a little more funky."
Also, I often imagine Mr.
Such good songs, my favourite of all time is round here though, such an incredibly beautiful song
You are my favorite reactor. You have so much joy for music. ❤
I have LOVED this song since it first came out & love it still. I am glad that you did too. It is the music, his vocals, his emotion & the end of it - the REAL end of it.
"Mr. Jones & me, ...We're gonna be,... big stars."

Hope & redemption. It can't get anymore beautiful than that.
I'm an old man, I've been listening to music since the early 60's. Literally, thousands of songs. This is in my top 10 of all time. Fantastic reaction, young man!
I NEVER get tired of this song or video.
The brother was really laying it down and feeling it, no? Love it!
The way he backs it almost all the way back up without saying a word and we all just are like ‘yeah’… 👏👏👏😊
Round Here is another great song from the same album.

That’s a beautiful song
This song instantly takes me back to the 90s.
I freaking love this song. Always have. It's like water simmering to a boil it builds and builds until the energy just overflows and you can't sit still
He’s sooo charismatic def a big part of their performance and appeal. 🤘🏽
An all time GREAT track.
I can see how this would REALLY resonate with a youtuber.
❤This is such a great band. Their cover version of Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi" is so good. I've seen them live so many times and they never disappointed. Keep digging in to them.... you will love it.
Every song on that album is excellent. One of the great debut albums.
Yeah, it’s definitely in my top 25 debut albums of all time.
September 1993 was the beginning of senior year of high school for me. I wore this record out and still listen to it regularly when I need it.
I've always loved this song. Both the music and lyrics convey the scenario perfectly.
Doesn’t get much more ‘90s than this song.
Feel the same after all these years tears of joy and excitement
Duritz is a great lyricist.
I graduated high school in 97. I was a part of the team that created the year book. We titled it August and Everything After
Also the most genius song title for a band names Counting Crows - "A Murder of One"
‘Round here’ is perfection
This song is just so alive.
Definitely need to listen to Round Here by them next! That’s my #1 favourite by them
Luv watvhing you enjoy a song
Einstein On the Beach, Round Here are MUSTS from them. Also check out Rain King and their cover of Big Yellow Taxi with Michelle Branch.
Oh, Salvo!!!!! So fun to watch you!!! We all felt the same! GOOOOOOD album. Please do more.
What's funny is that he doesn't stop singing throughout the entire song.
❤my favorit song😊
Wow 🤩 I haven’t heard this song in a long time!! Loved it!! Great reaction!! ♥️🎼👏🏻🎸 yep!! I remember the MTV music video awards, so fun to watch back then 😊
I love how excited you get and how you just get so into it and wanna sing along right away to songs. Music is pure happiness like that, isn't it?
This is THE best song ever
Yeah, that’s pretty much how I reacted the first time I heard this, too. The album was much the same way. I wore that shit out. Still know every word to every song-listened to it on repeat all through 1994. I played it on a road trip last summer and it was like no time had passed. Such a great album. Love your reaction to this great song
in my top 10 albums of all time for sure!
Thank you for being you. Watching the joy these songs bring to you makes every day brighter
This album and Recovering the Satellites are no skip records.
I just got into vinyl recently and I was like "What are some albums where I like practically all the songs on the album?" and right away I realized I had to get August & Everything After and Recovering the Satellites. They are so good.
I don't remember how I found this band, but I have the album this is from. Love it!
Yup- if you lived through it, this song was HUGE and dominated the year 1994.
wow I fekkin love your reaction to this, reminds of when i first heard them. My love for them went on for the past 25 years until this day. Hope you get to listen to Anna Begins & Round here soon.
Oh yeah, this one stays on the playlist! Legend has it he’s still trying to put on or take off his jacket 🤣
"Omaha", "Perfect Blue Buildings", "Daylight Fading", "I'm Not Sleeping", "Have You Seen Me Lately?"
And those are just the first good ones that come to mind
Their song/video "Round here" is a must to react to. Adam Duritz has such a way with words, a Master with them. He's an Incredible Poet and so Fricken Talented!! I Love his voice!! Adam is unapologetically himself and such a Legend!!
Awesome tune ❤
Mr.Jones, Palisades park, and Einstein on the beach are some of my favorite Counting Crows songs.
This was one of my favourite songs to dance to in the bar back in the 90s.. as was Lenny Kravitz's song "Are you gonna go my way'. Couldn't keep me off the dance floor when either of those songs were played. Good times. :D
Soooooo........ this one's getting on your play list? Great reaction to a great song.
One of the best... most complete great listen albums ever... Every song is great!
Best comment I ever read regarding this video: "Adam spends the song either struggling to put on his jacket or struggling take his jacket off"
😂
One of my favorite songs of all times. I was born in the 80’s but I’m 100% a 90’s alt kid when it comes to music and Counting Crows was is a huge favorite to this day.
MTV had this on repeat for like a year.
So funny with your giggles. That was a great review of a great song.
This song rocks… makes you want to dance like no one’s watching. Good vibes Salvo. You would look really good in his jacket by the way.
Started singing along right from the start. My apologies to my family 😂
At the time this came out I was about 26 and had a friend of mine that was about 38. We would go to a bar now and then and this song seemed like us. lol. He was Mr. Jones.
I had started a new job back when this hit the radio and I always heard it on my long commute. It was EVERYWHERE! Great song and great album.
such a catchy song when it came out.........everybody was singing along to it anywhere it played! good time music!
Oh man, you made my day! This was my jam, i was in high school when this came out and i wrote out the entire lyrics on my desk. Loved when you skipped back to the beginning, without saying anything and getting into the song again. Thats how i was the first time i heard it to. This is a great song ! In my opinion, there is no greatest song. Just some really really great songs. This is one of them.
Really fun to watch you react to one of my fav all time bands. If you’re interested, they have a pretty deep vault. Great song, lots of fun!!
August and Everything After is FIRE from beginning to end!! Anna Begins is my favorite.
I was 16 just got my license. This cd practically never left my car radio. Such a great album. I voted for this on Patreon and I really hope this is a clip from the album reaction. Just a great band and album
Perfect Blue Buildings and Long December are so good!
I remember when I first heard this I felt the same way pretty much the same way about Blues Traveler to
DMB with a similar vibe and similar time too
The entire album is great- worth listening to front to back while you're just chilling with headphones on, in a comfy chair, drink nearby.
I have loved this one since it first came out. I can't stay still when I hear it.
Had the same effect on me first time I heard it . Counting Crows had a knack for catchy tunes. “Hanging around” is another great one.
The album is TlTS!! It is has the "it" factor...something magical was stirred into the mix while creating this masterpiece. It would be SO FUN to watch you react to this again STANDING UP!! Man, you'd be dancin' and spinning around singin, Mr. Jonees and Me!!! Thanks
They really do have a fantastic catalog. Recovering the Satellites is a great album too ❤ oh I'll be requesting some, don't you worry!
The August and everything after album, and its very underrated follow up recovering the satellites, are both excellent. Immaculately produced, unique sound, whip-smart lyrics, bangers and ballads alike.

you are dressed exactly like we were when we first heard this song.. no joke: you look like the quintessential crows fan. just 20 years late
Great choice! Every song on this album is a winner. I think that I bought the CD three times.
Love this tune. Soo catchy, it was made to sing along to.
👍👍👍👍
August and Everything After, VS by Pearl
Jam and The Southern Harmony and
Musical Companion by The Black Crowes are the 3 best albums of the 90's IMO.
Brilliant!!
Love this song! The whole album is 🔥! ☮️❤️😎
Counting Crows takes me straight back to college, probably more than almost any other single band. Best of times, worst of times.
Glad you enjoyed this but this already a classic my man.
Round Here is perfect!!
August and Everything After is in my top ten albums ever. It's amazing.
My favorite song from them, though, is A Long December. Also, if you're interested in a really moody song from them, try Colorblind.
Pure art!
Neither had i. Been so interested in a song for a while when this came out. I bought the CD. I listened to every song. There are only a handful of CDs or albums i know of that i like every song. This may be the last one like that.
What others have said, this whole album is amazing. Not a bad song on it. Defining album of the 1990s.
Great album! I would call Pearl Jam's Ten a defining album for the decade too.
Oh.
This was the first video I ever saw of CC and I fell hard. Still one of my fave bands. Check out Blue October!
