    Yager is being coached by my old teammate when we were 15, Mark O'leary. I really hope he gets him ready to be a Penguins superstar one day lol

    DK, Both Michel Plasse (Montreal, 1968) & Rick DiPietro (NYI, 2000) went first overall before Fleury.

    Hey dk I was wondering if you could do a daily shot about your opinion on the Sidney Crosby contract situation, if you even think it’s considered a situation,what you think is best for the franchise and what you think the end result will be???? My personal opinion is that having sid remain in Pittsburgh is the most important thing overall. I couldn’t stomach him in another team’s jersey and I honestly think he has nothing more to prove because he’s done it all. I think all the people writing about sid leaving are just trying to cook up a story. Anyways I could go on for days about this lol. Thanks dk great stuff as always

    The CHL-NHL Agreement is in place because the NHL doesn't want to weaken the CHL even more. If the NHL allows all of the top 18 and 19 year old CHLers to play in the A, then the quality of the O, the Dub, and the Q is even worse without those high end drafted players. Your future studs, the Gavin McKenna types, would then play far worse competition, prepping them less for pro hockey.
    The only solution is a transfer fee that NHL franchises pay the CHL (teams) to offset for the loss of said player(s). Or the NHL would have to force the CHL to up the import limit to 3, in order to get more higher end players into the league from places like Czech Republic, Slovakia, Finland, Germany, Belarus, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, etc.

    Hey DK, could you see a possibility where if another top 6 forward isn't acquired that Kevin Hayes plays second line center, and Geno bounces out to the wing, and then you could move Rakell up to the first line. Thanks!

    The number one pick, Braden Yager wants to play. I hope he will be just that. Thank you DK

    I miss Fleury. Best penguin goalie ever. I argue that the window closes on this iteration of the pens. Murray was a flash in the pan. Fleury will go on to become the 3rd best goalie of all time

    I wouldn't hate the AHL a 18 year age limit instead of 20

    • @TaylorHaasePGH
      @TaylorHaasePGH 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The AHL does have an 18-year-old age limit. The 20-year-old thing is the NHL-CHL transfer agreement and only applies to players coming from major junior in Canada. It's aimed at keeping the NHL from depleting the system of players they have no intention of playing. Yager and every other prospect to come through major junior benefitted from playing with and against much stronger competition when he was 16, 17, 18 years old. If those borderline players are gone, the whole system gets weakened and isn't producing players that strong. Many CHL teams aren't profitable, they get propped up by the NHL. If you take away their top talent on top of that, you're asking for the whole system to collapse.

    Hey DK, do you think Crosby is considering leaving Pittsburgh? And do you think Letang and Malkin being here is the only thing potentially keeping Crosby around due to the loyalty these guys are showing towards each other?

      @DKPittsburghSportsSteelers Yes, I am. Growing up watching Hockey Night in Canada shoving the last place Leafs down my throat every Saturday night helped me want to look for a team worth cheering for. My dad introduced me to some guy named Mario in late 1990, and sure enough, later that season, Pittsburgh won the '91 Cup. I have been hooked ever since 😀

    CHL produces more money than AHL is why

  • @gablefisk-govphost817
    @gablefisk-govphost817 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I am reasonably certain that ticket sales are exactly the reason the CHL insists that 20 year-olds must remain in their league. The over-agers are the superstars, and that's how you fill seats in places like Red Deer and Kelowna.
    Does it benefit the player's development? Of course not!

    • @TaylorHaasePGH
      @TaylorHaasePGH 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, it does. Yager and every other prospect to come through major junior benefitted from playing with and against much stronger competition when he was 16, 17, 18 years old. The money is a factor, but if you let every NHL team poach their drafted prospects even if they aren't ready for the NHL, you're asking for the entire system to get weaker and produce lesser players.

    • @gablefisk-govphost817
      @gablefisk-govphost817 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TaylorHaasePGH I see what you mean about how it benefits 16 y/o's to face 20 y/o's, but for the likes of Yager, Poulin, etc, at age 20 they are playing the game on easy mode by remaining in the CHL. That does not help you improve. That's why Seattle was so desperate to assign Shane Wright to the AHL last year.
      The 16 y/o's can still cut their teeth by facing 20 y/o's who are on their way to the ECHL the following year.

    • @TaylorHaasePGH
      @TaylorHaasePGH หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gablefisk-govphost817 Wright got an exception because he went to the OHL a year early. Had COVID not cost him an OHL season he would have met the four-year requirement needed to play in the AHL. He’s in the AHL because he was supposed to be by now.
      And yeah, obviously if one guy can potentially play up in the AHL at 19 that’d be good. But if every single guy does it the system collapses. Playing against 20-year-olds destined for the ECHL or USports is a whole lot different than 19-year-old top prospects, and you know that.
      Yager still wasn’t even the best player on his team this year, let alone the league. Because there were older guys who were better and took another step in junior.

    Hey DK do you really think Yeager makes it to NHL before Crosby retires? Don't have a great feeling myself. Also is it possible to get rid of Dumbass? His tantrum while being Toronto GM really turned me off and his decisions have been suspect at best just asking for a friend lol love the shows HAGD

      Seven years.
      FSG gave him SEVEN YEARS.
      Dubas wasn’t hired to manage the 3 Amigos sunset years; he was hired to pick up the pieces afterward.
      DEAL WITH IT.
