My last metal detecting hunt in Pennsylvania was posted way back on January 30th 2013! It's been too long. You can watch that video below (quality is bad. LOL)

No BC there would of been evidence from the dog, ie Bone's and different colors in the dirt. Plus the caller was broken on the one end. So it was just lost

One of my craziest memories from childhood was when I went fishing with my parents in my home town of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at the slough behind the river. I was maybe 6 or 7. I wandered off to look for 'whatever,' and what I found right beside the water's edge was truly horrific, and required my eyes to pan up from the ground to my own height: the white/yellow sun-bleached, upright, fully intact skeleton of a giant dog, still just held together with jerky-like tendons. It had a flea collar and a studded black leather collar, firmly tangled in bush bramble and holding it upright like a perfect museum display. I ran to get my parents and when they saw it they assessed that the poor creature had been trapped in that spot when the river flooded, a few months prior. It was very sad but such an amazing sight, I so wish we'd had a camera. And of course I wish the collar had tags we could have used to contact the dog's family.

The thing you called a unloader goes inside a barn it mounts in the point of the roof on the rails that's laying with it. There was hooks and rope that ran through the unloader and it was used to move hay bales from the ground level to the upper part of the barn. They are highly sought after antiques around here.

Awesome find!! Crotal bells...horse bells. Placed on the harnesses to warn other horses&their drivers they were within close range. Dated back to pre-columbian and medievial times and this one's markings indicates made back in Europe. The website I obtained this info on didn't indicate these bells were made anywhere else!

That is a duckbill earth anchor. it is drove in the ground with a driver inserted into the round part and a cable is attached to the hole. after being drove straight down, the cable is pulled up to turn the anchor and set it. Just look up Duckbill earth anchors.

@ 8:30 I think that is a mic/speaker that they used at the old drive-in theaters. If you wanted to order some snacks to be brought to your car, you pick it up off the poll next to your car where the speaker is and order with it. The cable is missing.

I could be wrong but I think that what you found at 26 min. /Clover Leaf... is a very old hay elevator. I only believe this because of the runners/ long metal or iron pieces next to it. It was used to distribute bails of hay into the top part or lofts of the barn for saving tons of space and not having to carry them one by one up ladders. I am 90% sure.

Look at the Wikipedia description of crotal bells and, on the right, there is a picture of what looks exactly like the bell you found. Aw, puppy wants his collar back. I suspect you accidentally hit a pet grave. I think the Duckbill is an earth anchor used in surveying. I believe you put the tapered end down and hammer the other end into the ground. Pull on a line attached to the small hole and it puts the device into a horizontal position under the ground. Beyond that, I don't know. I love the "early 1900s" house!!! VDBs are rare. The off-loader would have run along rails, some of which I think were around it on the forest floor. It would have been used to move heavy loads, as in unloading a cart, wagon, or whatever into the barn or vice versa. The property is gorgeous, esp. in the woods. Old milk crate.

    Model 88 Duckbill Earth Anchor
Ideal for rocky or hard soils, as well as for use with power installation equipment. Holding capacity to 3,000 lbs. in normal soil. 1/4” x 42” Cable. Duckbill is 6.32” L x 2.36” Tall. An upward pull on anchors rotates duckbill into a load-lock position approximately 15° from horizontal. Further tension causes anchor to plane sideways through undisturbed soil, increasing holding power. No rods, stakes, pipes, or stems above ground. Made of tinzalloy aluminum alloy, will not corrode or rust. Driving rod required to drive anchor vertically into undisturbed soil to required depth. Order driving rod separately

I think the pull tabs were an early to mid 70’s thing. In the 60’s ( I was pretty young) but I recall having to punch a hole in the top of soda cans with a can opener. Then straight across from the first hole, you punched a smaller hole. Like the way you would open a tin of tomato juice for pouring. Up here in Canada anyways. Cool find all the same!!

The duck bill is a driven ground anchor there should be a hole for a cable in the raised portion
They were driven in the ground by a rod put in the duck bill hollow portion. Rod was then removed and cable pulled twards the sky forcing the duck bill to upset and travel across the bore hole thus setting the anchor below the ground. The only way to get them out is dig them out.

Saving time and labor, patented DUCKBILL® earth anchors work like toggle bolts in soil. They are driven into the ground with no holes, no digging, and minimal soil disturbance creating a safe and environmentally sensitive installation. With an upward pull, the anchor tendon rotates the DUCKBILL into a perpendicular “anchor lock” position in undisturbed soil resulting in superior holding capacities.
The DUCKBILL offers the most effective, lightweight, economical solution to any anchoring application, from large to small. Applications include tree support, theft deterrence, turf reinforcement and more.
DUCKBILLS are manufactured from aluminum alloys and are also available in galvanized ductile icon for hard rocky soils. To see our DUCKBILL models click here.

While there is something called a duckbill for doing what you are talking about, that is not what the thing is he found. The item he found is a Duckbill 18 which is a type of earth anchor. It is used for many things such as anchoring fur traps and also for supporting trees with a wire or rope to keep them growing straight.
