Exploring an abandoned house full of antiques!
Note that this is PRIVATE PROPERTY, and I had permission to look around. I will be providing more updates on this property soon.
It's very complicated, but I did metal detect here for a while and sort through the burn piles. I'll be sharing those finds in a video shortly. :)

I hope you can do something about the antique furniture. It is beautiful! The head and footboards and dresser were just gorgeous! The gold metal wall plaque brought so many memories back. My mother had a few of those when I was growing up

I always wonder why an old home is just forgotten. The history in those walls and on that property alone... it’s a beautiful property but the work required at this point for someone like me who just can’t throw stuff out would be overwhelming. That being said, give me a weekend, a trailer and permission to take what I wanted and I’d be there in a heartbeat. Of course a weekend to detect it would also be awesome. Thanks for sharing the adventure brother!

I love all of your videos, and especially this one. I used to be a professional photographer, and I explored a lot of old home, and barn sites before photographing them. I laughed when you were talking about how old the bathroom, and kitchen sinks were. I was raised in a four room house without indoor plumbing. I was a teenager before I knew the luxury of not having to go outside at 2:00am if you had a stomach virus. We carried water from the windmill, and mom would heat it on the stove for us to bath. Our bathtub was a galvanized tub we sat in the kitchen when we bathed, and hoped we didn't have company until we were finished. My poor mom worked endlessly to keep four kids clean, and wash our clothes on a ringer type washing machine. I grew up in a house full of things that people now would love to have as antiques, and my mom only wanted to get rid of for more modern appliances. My father was a WWll vet., and like many, didn't finish high school, and despite the fact that he was very intelligent he was unable get gainful employment. He worked as a poor dirt farmer on my grandfather's farm, and my grandfather's barn was full of antiques when it finally melted down. They say hind sight is 20-20, I wish I had saved some of the things that my grandfather, who was born in 1881, thought was old junk. I do have a few things, but you inspire me to hunt for more antiques, coins, and I am buying a metal detector, because I have found a 1906 V nickel, and a .45 colt black powder bullet from a SAA. a top of a four gauge shotgun shell, and pieces of old saddle, and harness on my land.I also have a large Indian artifact collection. Part of my driveway was the main road before they made section lines. All of the things I have found have been in my drive, and on the surface. I am close to where a large Indian battle took place, and I believe some of the stragglers could have made it to my land. Keep the good videos coming.

I just discovered your channel yesterday and boy am I entertained!!! Probably watched at least 4 hours of your past videos in between a couple of rough shifts at work. There's an abandoned old house dating back to the 1800,s literally right next to my parents new house. They bought 10 acres surrounding it about 5 years ago in the country. The whole area used to be owned by the original owners of the house and there's even foundations across the street and the whole road is lines with remnants of maples planted over 100 years ago. So much history here. Just haven't had the guts to contact the owner, who is an old lady who lives a few hours away in northern NY, to see if I can explore it. I would love some advice or incouragement bc I think it may be tough to convince her to let me explore or detect.

Abandoned homes like this break my heart. Even as a young child I found it so disturbing that they would be abandoned and left to ruin. I can see all the hard work that went into creating such a beautiful place and can imagine a full life going on. So sad.

Fantastic find JD. From experience, I can say there will be some great hidden treasures here, above and below the surface. If you don't already know, make sure you check in the barn corners and under the rafters..they were commonly used to hide personal valuables (and often hiding places for whiskey bottles). Good luck, can't wait to see what you find!

I usually don't use this camera for videos with a lot of motion. It's the Olympus Tough TG-5. It's better for slow moving shots and underwater. It's very rugged and almost impossible to break, so it's great on the go. Just doesn't do well for videos like this (next time I'll use my handy cams that are better with auto focus) Nuggetnoggin and Green Mountain Metal Detecting both use this camera.
