I did this back in April after chasing one of 2102's test runs. My ride was on a rainy day, but it was the full 70 minute ride. I had Ian as my engineer and he was great too. So cool that RBMN offers this to their fans!
I had the opportunity to have a cabride on the Lehigh Gorge back in 2017 and I also did a cabride on the New Hope and Ivyland railroad they were both incredible experience's
Have you stopped smiling yet??? I don't think so! You looked so happy and I'm glad you got to do that. I would if I could but I cannot. So glad you went for me! That was totally awesome! Thank you for sharing this amazing video! 💙
I went on a train ride last year and it was about 3 hours long and they served us lunch. It was so much fun. God be willing next year I hope to go again when the leaves are changing here in Arkansas. Enjoyed this video. TFS🙂❤️
What an amazing experience! Ever play Train Simulator? Kind of a dated program by now, but it's very relaxing and fun to at least virtually drive one of these beasts.
Don't go to New Hope and ivyland railroad $50 bucks won't get you much of anything and parking is outrageous.. and WOW 😲 this looked like a lot of fun!!! I know I would have enjoyed that even more from your vantage point....
One of these days we're going to run into eachother! Went there on Columbus day weekend for the 3pm ride but 3, 4, and 5pm were sold out. Couldn't wait for the 6pm sadly. Thanks for sharing so we could see it!
Fantastic video, JP! The Reading and Northern is a First Class Operation, from Mr Mueller on down. The showroom condition of their GP 38 exemplifies their pride of ownership in everything they do. Thanks for taking us along!
Have you looked into the Sorin Eagle Rail yet? It closes soon for the winter and won't open again until spring. It's a railbike adventure in the Poconos.
The only way I would want to do this is that I get to run. Yes I know how and did it for 20 years. You never get enough, at least I don't. Thank you Reading & Northern for giving people the opportunity to experience this.
How awesome was that!?! So cool and so fun! You were in your glory, and you looked like you enjoyed that so much, that is for sure! Right in your element! What a great experience and incredible time for you! It was a gorgeous ride! So happy for you JP! Great video! Thank you!
Dam you!!! Now I have another item on my bucket list...lol...wow! The fall color looks phenomenal! I will be sure to get me a $50 ticket to ride shotgun...lol..I finished my last radiation treatment Monday hopefully I can soon start checking items off my three page bucket list...lol... ✌
Awesome opportunity JP! That's been on my bucket list too! Thats one of my favorite locomotives also! Great price! Awesome ride! Thanks for bringing us along!
That was cool to see what you saw. The last time my dad was in PA, he took a cab ride at Steamtown. They hooked him up with earplugs and safety glasses for the ride. Now that you've done diesel, you should consider the steam train cabin ride.
I wish i lived close enough to do it! I did take a round trip pittsburgh to omaha on Amtrak about 8 years ago and that was amazing! Great video, you looked like the kid who bought the candy store ... lol Thank you as always!
AWESOME!! So glad you finally got your cab ride, and you sure picked the perfect day for it! 2013 is the same one I rode in, and about a week before you did your ride I was on my ebike chasing 2013 with Jeff at the controls. Yeah, they do run fast this time of year lol! That info sheet they give out now is really cool, I paused to read it. They didn't have that when I rode earlier this year. I like all info about its history with NS and its remodel from a high hood to low hood. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us!
Beautiful ride !! 👍👍 That had to be so much fun ! Were you o.k. going over the gorge ? 🚂 I felt a little "uneasy "riding on the bridge ..LOL... So glad you picked this beautiful fall season to take us along ...🍁🍂
I wanna ride in steam train in front with the firemen and the engineer… and even help shovel coal to fire the locomotive and to pull the steam whistle as well… that’s on my bucket list
Jay, Beautiful weather, fantastic ride. I would do that in a minute if I were still on the East Coast. He gets paid to do that, tough! What a great experience for you, is that the first time you've been in the Locomotive cab? I saw your experience in the mine car, great driving there, but this is way cooler. CHeers, Rik
I have a question ? Why is the emergency brake valve on the conductor side ? Isnt that for the engineer to use instead? And that is to put the train into emergency correct?
What an experience! If you had the opportunity, would you do this?
I did this back in March was an amazing ride. Blew the horn, had a good chat with our engineer. Was very fun!

Heard lots about it, but never played it.
Great ✌️ day and amazing video on TH-cam 😎👍
Nice to see that GP38-2 in service. Most GP38s are 50 years old and continue to run.
Don't go to New Hope and ivyland railroad $50 bucks won't get you much of anything and parking is outrageous.. and WOW 😲 this looked like a lot of fun!!! I know I would have enjoyed that even more from your vantage point....
I got a parking ticket there, its ridiculous, but I do like their rr.
As a kid many years ago I rode in the cab of a few steam locomotives.
My father was an engineer for the Chicago Northwestern RR out of Chicago.
That's a fun childhood
WOW! great video.
what a beautiful train ride. thank you for going on the trip
Absolutely!! I love the sound of those diesel engines at work.
One of these days we're going to run into eachother! Went there on Columbus day weekend for the 3pm ride but 3, 4, and 5pm were sold out. Couldn't wait for the 6pm sadly. Thanks for sharing so we could see it!
Weekends and Holidays are really busy. This Tuesday morning wasnt too bad.

Have you looked into the Sorin Eagle Rail yet? It closes soon for the winter and won't open again until spring. It's a railbike adventure in the Poconos.
I should have done one while in JT but I was just too busy.
What fun!!
Very cool! 👍
I’d do it in a second J! That looks like a ton of fun. See the sights as a conductor. You are so lucky yo live where you do!
What a beautiful scenery!! Loved it!

Awesome opportunity JP! That's been on my bucket list too! Thats one of my favorite locomotives also! Great price! Awesome ride! Thanks for bringing us along!
Hope you get to do it soon
Awesome cab ride video JP. Thanks for sharing.
I did a cab ride on the BM&R back in the early 90's on a switcher when it departed the Temple station.
Nice. Thanks for sharing
That was an amazing experience!!!! Thanks!!!!!
3:29 it should say "645 cubic inch dispacement PER CYLINDER" or 10,320 cubic inch total displacement.
Wow very cool!! 👍🏻 I bet that was the best 50 bucks spent for yourself and that smile on your face is priceless 🙌🏻✌🏻
Hard to beat this for $50. Now to do the steam locomotive cab ride.
That was cool to see what you saw. The last time my dad was in PA, he took a cab ride at Steamtown. They hooked him up with earplugs and safety glasses for the ride. Now that you've done diesel, you should consider the steam train cabin ride.
I'll be doing the steam ride when it's offered
I would ride on any engine.
What an awesome experience! Thanks for the tips about the cab ride!!! Great video!
I wish i lived close enough to do it! I did take a round trip pittsburgh to omaha on Amtrak about 8 years ago and that was amazing! Great video, you looked like the kid who bought the candy store ... lol
Thank you as always!
More like a kid in a train store lol
@@JPVideos81 yeah true...lol... your enjoyment leaked out to us as viewers and that is good content, because its REAL!!!

If you want a better picture of that fact sheet just let me know and i can send it to you.
When the train is going backward, is there a “spotter” in the last car to look for problems on the track?
Conductor is in the caboose and keeps radio contact with the engineer.
Beautiful ride!!!!!
Yes! Wish I could have gone! I lived in Beaver Falls as a child. Hope you do a video there some day!
That is the way to do it. Legal and very enjoyable experience.
sure, add to my bucket list for me..
sweet
Have you heard of the starrucca viaduct in laneborrow PA. It is about 2 miles long built in the 1800s out of stone
It's on my list
Fantastic video. That is another thing that is on my bucket list of things to do. It's just a matter of finding the time to do it.
Dude!!!!
When you doing it?
Beautiful ride !! 👍👍 That had to be so much fun ! Were you o.k. going over the gorge ? 🚂 I felt a little "uneasy "riding on the bridge ..LOL... So glad you picked this beautiful fall season to take us along ...🍁🍂
I felt safer in the locomotive than in the open air car over the bridge.
i have never been on a train, one thing I would love to do. Enjoyed the ride, cool video
It's a memorable experience
man, your lucky to have a cab ride in a GP38-2, that cools
That was super cool. Thanks for the video. Stay well and be safe. You should go up to Flagstaff overlook. You can look down into Jim Thorpe.
I've been up there. Nice views
Thank you for sharing this, I had no idea cab rides were available. definitely on the list for next year. 3 thumbs up!!!
It's highly recommended, so enjoy your ride.

I've been inside of a cab, but never rode in one.
Wow, I was in the locomotive cab ride of the LGSR as well as the NH&I!
It's a fantastic experience
@@JPVideos81yup
@@JPVideos81I was also in the cab of the FWRHS switcher as well once in 2013!
Will you do the steam locomotive cab ride experience?
I plan on it
We are going to take a train ride in September at this railway I seen it on another video for things to do and thank you for all your sharing
You'll love it.
One day in the future, I wonder if the R&N could do possible long distance locomotive cab ride excursions?
I have a question ? Why is the emergency brake valve on the conductor side ? Isnt that for the engineer to use instead? And that is to put the train into emergency correct?
YES
Thats awesome! Would love to do that!
Well the porridge and are now better hope he doesn't have the drop a deuce now that the toilet is removed
Well if I could ever get out that way maybe I'll get myself a locomotive ride that's not a bad price for that fifty bucks
Want to try a cab ride with my model train,? You can even control it!
I know Jeff, he's a cool guy
💚💙
What happened to the Halloween videos
