We recommend placing the jelly in the fridge for 2 to 3 hours and then check if it's firm enough :) Thoroughly chilled jelly has a firm refreshing texture and it is more delicious!
Here's a tip for you coffee lovers! If you find that you coffee is bitter, sprinkle a scant pinch of salt over the grounds before you brew. Most (or all) of the bitterness should be gone! I've done this many times and it actually works. Any kind of salt will do.
that has got to be the cutest, simplest yet most elegant coffee grinder I've ever seen... I've worked before in a kitchenware specialty retail store but I've never once encountered one of those...
I have made this several times now at my restaurant during our service periods. This is the ULTIMATE perky snack for a slow work day! I particularly like it with homemade whipped creme! Yum! As I watch this video again, I'm eating a bit of it, in fact.
I made this, it's so gooooood. And since I don't have time to brew coffee in the morning, I just scoop some jelly an I can be awake the whole day. It's awesome.
Protocall13o2 "Francis" must be the dog's name right? I didn't get that from the video, my Japanese is "taihen heta desu". But it doesn't matter, my grandmother would flip anyway!
+John Hanley I'm pretty sure male voice is supposed to be the dog. He introduces himself. He's the host/mascot. He never moves from his sitting stool. Lol. You right though, some people may flip out seeing a dog like that.
This is a FANTASTIC recipe. Thanks a million for the clear and concise instructions. Amazing part is that I had my computer on mute and I still fully and completely understood everything you were explaining. Thank you. And I adore your well behaved doggie :)
@@andreaowsiks no. You can use agar powder. Not only gelatine product can be called jelly. Since it's asian i think they more likely to use agar than gelatine
@@kaenryuuart543 Agar, while popular in Asia, does have different properties than gelatin (more resistant to melting, vegan, must be boiled before setting) but it's generally easier to find plain gelatin powder in Western supermarkets. If you have an Asian supermarket nearby they may have agar in block or powder form.
This is easily my favourite episode. The recipe seems like it'd be soo good, but Chef and Francis' passion for preparing dishes really shines through, here. I love the comment about hand-grinding coffee c:
My Aunt Rosemary used to make this - during the Depression nothing was thrown away - of course this fresh and delicious treat made in this video is much better.
You better use gelatine. Using gelatine, your jelly is smooth and soft. Using agar agar, your jelly is hard and crispy. If you use agar agar, then use a little.
Been subscribed to this channel for a long time. Been subscribed to all of the Creatures for a long time. Never would I thought these 2 worlds would clash.
If you mean buying coffee and brewing it yourself, yes! My fiance and I just used our everyday coffee to make this to see if it would taste fine, and it does! Though grinding your own coffee tastes a lot better :)
Agar Agar is quite rigid compared to gelatine, if you use agar you might want to cut it smaller or thinner. But if you use agar could you share your experience? Maybe it's better ;D
I never thought of doing that with coffee. I brew it the same way because I have a pour over from columbia. I love different styles of making coffee. I can say that I am an addict to finding old ways to brew coffee. I am so going to try this today.
Noticed the subtitles were a little bit higher at the beginning of the video. Thank you! I always have to close the add and re-start the video, lol, small but awesome detail! :D
I made this yesterday and it was delicious! I'm going to see if I can make some of your other recipes... Thank you Francis and especially Chef, for uploading all these yummy recipes! (And making them easy to understand!!)
(Years later) I did this, exactly as shown. It was really good! In America we all know "Jell-o" as obvious artificial fruit flavor , this was a great change. I sometimes have leftover coffee I put in the refrigerator, I think I'll start doing this! Nice basic tutorial on coffee also.
I had this dessert on a very traditional Japanese restaurant here in São Paulo. They made it a bit differently, though: The jelly was most likely made with agar, and it didn't had any sugar, and was topped with sweetened condensed milk.
I just wanted to tell you that I love your videos! I'm especially pleased to see you making a REAL perfect cup of coffee using a hario and hand grinder! AWESOME stuff!
Who would have thought you could make jelly from coffee. I will try this too. Thank you for posting such great videos. They are fun to watch and I like trying different types of dishes. Gayle
I love Cooking With Dog. I have not had coffee jelly in about 5 years but I thought about it just yesterday. I saw this and it made me smile as your videos always do. I will be making this soon! Oishkata desu! Arigato!
OMG I didn't expect to see you writing there, best thing I've read today! One of my favorite chefs on youtube commenting on another one of my favorite youtube chefs :D YAY!
We miss you Francis, thank you for teaching us so much throughout the years

ですヒロシ that’s what made me search for this!
Hahahahaha I was actually thinking of that as well😂
Thats the whole reason why I want to try coffee jelly xD
Sexsi Lexsi Same really
I watch this video because of Saiki 😂😂😂
You can probably make refreshing tea jelly using the thai iced tea :) The sweetened condensed milk sounds good!
Can I turn it into latte pudding?
Potato XD A latte is just coffee and milk. This would already be a sort of latte pudding, maybe just more milk for a lighter color

I just made this at work at my restaurant and even my haters loved me when I was done. I am a CWD fan for life.

Baking soda works too
You can also use pre-ground coffee or instant coffee to make the coffee jelly :)
I would love to try this! Thank you for the recipe!
Saiki Kusuo brought me here 😂❤

This is by far the best cooking show on TH-cam. No other show can create that feeling of peaceful happiness like cooking with dog.
