  • Brian Ridge fell in love with Knoxville Raceway when he was just a kid.
He has vivid and powerful memories of sitting on the wooden bleachers back in the day with his family but when he became old enough to get his driver's license he realised he was the only one of the Ridge family who was still passionate about the sport. He'd either look for people to come with him or he'd drive to Knoxville by himself.
He's had a couple of cracks at driving Sprint Cars over the years and he's stepped away from the sport entirely on a couple of occasions but deep down that love of the sport is too deeply ingrained in his DNA.
    "Ridge" makes no apologies.
He doesn't expect his driver too either by the way.
RSR - Ridge & Sons Racing has grown into quite a formidable powerhouse and their Knoxville race-shop is jaw dropping.
Those who know Brian know that he and business partner Jeff Ketels aren't into half-assing.
If you'd like to see that ethos more clearly brought into focus you need to visit the American Table Restaurant/ The P.O. Box Sports Bar when it opens fully next month.
    What a transformation!
From a $6000 disaster area they have transformed the building into something that would not be out of place in downtown Chicago.
A diesel engine in the property development and construction industry 'Ridge' rarely sits still.
I caught up with him recently at American Table Restaurant/ The P.O. Box Sports Bar with my lunch date Skip Jackson and asked a bit about Brian's story.
Why does he love it so much?
Why does he keep coming back?
    His back story is fascinating.
Loves family, sport, racing, rat rods, Iowa and life with the top down.
    Meet Brian Ridge.
Don't bother looking for the brake pedal - there isn't one!

I agree with Brian .., the best thing about NASCAR , is that it cures insomnia…

Great interview Wade, I love to see all the faces of a race team, not just the driver..In my opinion NASCAR has become too corporate and left it roots, I like what High Limit has brought to the table, I think race teams should be profitable and not just a tax deduction.

With every Hero there needs to be a good Anti- hero ,people boo Larson not because they hate him, but the nice guy image at all times gets boring. We need black hats too.., the Aaron Reutzel and Justin Sanders are the “Asshole “ that society needs to help keep us all from insanity..IMHO
