Oh my goodness, these commentators are awful. I watched the 2013 and 2014 finals before watching this video and the contrast is astounding. It's like they went up to two random guys and said, "Hey, do you know a lot about Pokemon? We need some people to talk during the match." and they replied, "Yeah sure, I almost beat a Pokemon game once. What was it called?... Dungeons of Mystery or something." "Fantastic! You're in."

Oh, it has a decent chance of paralysing the opponent... ok, whats its primary effect since it does no damage..., let me read its move description: Thunder Wave paralyses the opponent. Paralysed Pokémon have a 25% chance of not being able to attack, and their Speed is decreased by 75%. 100 Acc in Gen 1 - 6. Their favourite pokemon are gen 5 starters at a gen 5 world finals... a 5 year old could do better than these idiots.

Not to mention psychic types ARE very strong (sp.-wise ofc) Just let me do the commentary, guiz. My stream of consciousness is waaay better than any two thoughts you can string together, individually, or simultaneously. If you pay for my trip I'll do it for free at any Fest to prevent your Cringe-fest. Plz consider guiz, you'll be doing YOURSELVES a favor. Joel H gimmick meaning it was just purely OP things, very little thought process. every team was kyogre/groudon+ rayquaza/xerneas. that was it. those things would one hit everything. it was almost as bad as vgc 2011. vgc 2014 and 15 were actually fun, pokemon could take 2 - 3, even 4 hits, and made switching worthwhile, but this was just weather wars and which pokemon you didn't want to get one hit switches

Wolfe got crit with both pokémon on the first turn against Ray's team. The odds of that are 1/2500... So, y'know, kind of a big deal.
    252+ Atk Choice Band Terrakion Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Metagross: 256-303 (85 - 100.6%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
Terrakion's crit on Metagross definitely mattered as it's unlikely Ray's Metagross had no defensive investment.
I'm happy to see that Ray ends the last game with a decisive crit after he began to pull ahead, CRUSHING Wolfe's hopes and dreams of becoming a pokémon master. While that crit likely didn't matter in the grand scheme of things, it's just the principle of the thing.

In Ruby onward, Shinies have no difference from the normal ones other than coloration. In Gen2 (GSC), Shinies have better-than-average attributes called IVs in Defense, Special (This Special IV is used for Sp. Atk. and Sp. Defense for backwards compatibility), and Speed IVs. And it's Attack IV must be certain values. But in the end, it means relatively little. That's why I have never seriously bred for Shinies or hunted them.

yeah... it gets kinda boring seeing the same things over and over.. however if you try and come up with something original you lose to those same pokemon just cause they are the best :/ lame... then if you do find something original and it works it will be copied becoming what everyone else will use.

Why always Uber Pokemon? Let other Pokemon take the spotlight! Both teams use only NU and lower tier Pokemon.
    10/10 would watch.

+serenekyogre These guys aren't playing to entertain you. They're playing to win the World Championships. They used the best options that were available to them in order to maximize their chances.

    • @serenek623
      @serenek623 8 ปีที่แล้ว

You are right. I was only considering how bored I was seeing the same Pokemon on many teams. I had assumed that other people wouldn't enjoy it too, since it was repetitive.
However, when you speak of using the best options, I do believe there are other lesser-known choices for a competitive team that are barely given the chance to perform.
For example, since Thundurus and Landorus often make an appearance, perhaps someone could bring in a Lapras with Icicle Plate and set up with one Dragon Dance. That should OHKO Landorus. (Thundurus needs two Dragon Dances) Of course, the person may switch, but then you have a Dragon Dance nicely set up.
And I also wonder why Stunfisk is not used for competitive battling. Give it a Balloon and it can survive enough to land two devastating special attack moves. It can learn Surf, Electric moves, Earth power and even Pain Split, which keeps it alive even longer.
Sometimes, I give a Choice Scarf to a Pokemon with base 60 speed. It might sound dumb and pointless, but it surprises opponents when a supposedly slow Pokemon (Gogoat, Kricketune) strikes first.
I have also OHKO'd a Hydreigon with X-Scissor from a non-Mega Beedrill holding Focus Sash under influence of Swarm.
And there's Dunsparce that can survive almost any non-Fighting type move because of it's awesome HP. Then it uses Body Slam with Serene Grace and every hit has a 60% chance of paralyzing and hits hard due to STAB and Silk Scarf.
Part of my inspiration to use lesser known Pokemon comes from watching a competitive battle where a Trainer used Pachirisu to win.
That blew my expectations. Even to me, Pachirisu was something I had no hope for. It showed many people that choices for competitive Pokemon are wider than we think.
Therefore, I am interested to see how 'weak' Pokemon can be used as a valuable asset to the team, further proving that it is possible to use Pokemon that you love and still win.

+serenekyogre you need to remember two things. First, something that was touched on already: this is not meant for your entertainment, this is to win games.Second, you need to remember that Smogon tiers don't exist. There is no such thing as neverused in VGC, there are only banned mons and usable mons.
If you want to watch NU, go to Smogon's yt page and look up NU matches or whatever suits your fancy. VGC is not for you.

    • @lucasfranco6345
      @lucasfranco6345 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

+serenekyogre Allow me also to tell you why the options you gave are entirely unviable:
Scarfed Landorus-T superpower ohko's Lapras 75% of the time, banded Lando-T superpower ohko's Lapras 100% of the time. It outspeeds lapras regardless. Additionally, Lando-T can u-turn and chunk lapras for 41-49% hp, and can switch to Thundurus-I. Thund-I eats anything Lapras can throw at it and lose less than 25% hp, while getting a guaranteed ohko with tbolt. Thund-I also has a prankster twave, which is its main purpose.
Stunfisk is entirely outclassed by Thundurus as a status spreader, due to Thund's Prankster twave, infinitely higher speed, and higher power. There is also no reason to use offensive stunfisk because it has abysmal speed, is outclassed by pokemon such as Zapdos, and it instaloses to water-types like Azumarill.
If you are going to put a choice scarf on a pokemon, it must have the power and longevity to back it up. Kricketune's base 85 attack, weaknesses to common types like rock and fire, and abysmal bulk make it a waste of a team slot. Gogoat also has a weakness to fire, and poor physical bulk in a very physical meta.
Beedrill is also outsped by most common threats, so two attacks before it can do anything means a very dead pokemon. Additionally, since Focus Sash would be the only thing making it even remotely usable, there are no mind games to be had.
As a Serene Grace user, Dunsparce gets outclassed by Jirachi (who has a better offensive presence AND better coverage AND more resistances AND higher bulk) and Togekiss (see Jirachi).
Finally, while the Pachirisu was cool, it only got even a glance because Thundurus was unavailable in vgc14, and Thundurus outclasses Pachirisu in every way.

I must give you credit for posting an argument of such detail. I won't argue on your points except that you may have forgotten about Lapras having Ice Shard. I have OHKO'd a few Landorus or Thundurus (admittedly in cloud form) after setting up with Dragon Dance. As you know, Ice Shard always strikes first.
It's been a while since I played Smogon so I can't remember the exact number of Dragon Dances needed. (Of course, electric attacks can one-hit Lapras so it's better to set up before the cloud Pokemon switch in)
In other words, it definitely can do more than 25% to their cloud forms.
I must concede 2 things, though.
The first is that experienced players probably won't let a Lapras set up with 2 Dragon Dances. Next, the professional players would remember it has Ice Shard and will strike first so they won't switch in Thundurus/Landorus.

Yes, 13 year olds can enter this. You just have to earn yourself a high place in your country to even be allowed into this kind of tournament. Instead, you can enter the Regional tournaments that are being hosted around the US and UK, or wherever you're from. And for ages 11 to 14, the age division is Seniors.
