Well, this is very late, but here's the thing: Taking this as a "use what you like, not necessarily the meta" isn't 100% the right lesson to take from this. Se Jun used Pachirisu for a few very specific reasons, not because he was particularly attached to it. He started liking it once he was getting results with it. Se Jun wanted a redirector to complement his powerful offensive Pokemon well, but he didn't want to use Amoonguss because Amoonguss is weak to Talonflame, who was very common. Not only is Pachirisu resistant to Brave Bird from Talonflame, it's immune to and actually heals from any electric attacks directed at Gyarados because of Volt Absorb. It has Super Fang, which deals good damage to targets regardless of its poor attack stat, and it can spread status with Nuzzle because it's technically a damaging move, avoiding blocking from Taunt. In short, he used Pachirisu because it was a redirector that fit well with his team that also matched up well against the meta. So you should absolutely follow the meta, and if there's a Pokemon that you like that happens to match up well against the meta, and complements the rest of your team well, then go ahead.
