Have you made platters or plates before? If you have, do you embellish or decorate them?

Thank you!! I am relatively new turner, it doesn’t matter what stage a person maybe, we are all wanting to learn.
    Please keep demonstrating, greatly appreciated!

I'm loving the lessons. Was gunna make a whiskey smoker as my next project. But now I'm thinking maybe a plate instead.

Small plates like the one I show here really don't take too long! You might be able to complete both in one longer day. Most of the whisky smokers I have seen are cut on CNC machines. I would be curious if you can make a thicker platter than demonstrated here and turn it into a whiskey smoker? In either case, I would love to hear how it goes! Thanks for watching!

@@TurningStitches I did make a whiskey smoker. I'm relatively happy with it. My homemade woodworm screw is not quite perfect so the lid and the base of the smoker don't line up unless you turn them a little. Last night, I made a gnome. If you don't giggle a little while gluing the beard on a gnome, you probably should check yourself into a nervous hospital.
