    This game is based on the Japanese manga/anime series Saint Seiya, also known as Knights of the Zodiac. The game primarily covers 8th to 13th volumes of the original manga.
    The story follows five mystical warriors called the "Saints" ("Knights" in some adaptations) who fight wearing sacred armors named "Cloths", the designs of which derive from the various constellations the characters have adopted as their destined guardian symbols, and empowered by a mystical energy called "Cosmo". The Saints have sworn to defend Saori, the reincarnation of the Greek goddess Athena, in her battle against the other Olympian gods who want to dominate Earth. Saori gets her chest pierced by a golden arrow, and now the Saints have to storm the 12 palaces of Zodiac in order to ask Pope to remove the arrow.
    The gameplay is split in two parts. First, you play a mediocre action-platformer level as you fight through the guards. Then, you meet the boss of the level and the game switches to behind-the-back view of your character as you fight using turn-based RPG interface. All characters use two stats: Life (speaks for itself) and Cosmo. The more Cosmo you have, the stronger and farther your attacks are. If character's Life or Cosmo runs out, they die. It is recommended to use attacks that damage Cosmo. There's also the Seventh Sense bar, which is shared by all your characters. Seventh Sense is used to restore Life and Cosmo, and is accumulated through defeating enemies or certain events. It is possible to grind for Seventh Sense by staying on the action-platforming sections for a longer time, but the game limits the time you can grind. If you stay on a level for too long, boulders start falling from the sky, forcing you to escape.
    It is important to use the correct character for each level (except the first) in order to activate various bonuses which are the key to victory in this game. Each character has their own properties in action-platforming, too: Shun has the fastest movement, but his weapon has the shortest range and has to return before he can attack again; Seiya has the highest jump; Shiryu has rapid-fire ability; Hyoga's attacks have the longest range.
    One interesting thing about boss battles in this game: there is a quick-time event system where you have about a second to dodge enemy attack when you see your character raising their arms in defence. It is done by pressing left or right right before enemy's attack. -

    As a 90s kid, "Saint Seiya" (aka "The Knights of the Zodiac") was definitely a part of my childhood. I'm from eastern Europe where it's been quite popular (although not as much as, let's say, Dragon Ball). From what I've heard from my Brazilian friends on FB, the series used to be also SUPER popular in Latino-America. We may feel lucky that, unlike anime imported to the USA, our versions were relatively unchanged. Yes, I know they never released Saint Seiya in the States, but I saw what they turned Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon into.

      I feel like the douche status goes to Ikki, he's not travel along and decide to suddenly pop up only sometimes (Mostly when Shun is in danger), he even is an antagonist in the first arc. But he still awesome for me tho XD

    O segredo pra zerar esse jogo é seguir a ordem dos eventos do anime: enfrente Aldebaran com Seiya, Máscara da Morte com Shiryu e por aí vai😂😂😂

    This is also my childhood game. But i play it with japanese languange. Even i don't understand the language (my native is bahasa indonesia), i just tried several times and know the pattern and with help from my friend i can finish the game. He gave me the tips and trick "increase your seventh sense a lot by hit a lot of enemy". Then you can use it when fight the boss.

    Dude, I played it as a kid but the original Japanese version. Man it was a torture to get around without understanding what was going on in a game based on texts battles. And passwords, I think they are as long as they can get 20 or so I think characters, just random letters from hirogana (an alphabet like abc ). Otherwise it was kinda intriguing at the same time.

      +STRELOK STALKER Traduce it! :P Para poder esquivar, tenías que elegir una dirección, izquierda o derecha, en el momento desde que el personaje a la defensiva comienza a levantar los brazos (grises) hasta que los termina de levantar, sólo en ese tramo el personaje se mueve, a veces esquiva a veces no lo hace.

    Que juegazo cuando era chico lo jugué en japones pero con solo ver la serie sabia con quien tenia que elegir las casa con sus respectivos Santos, incluso cuando termine el juego me quede como 1 hora esperando a ver si continuaba con la saga de Asgard xD . Que gran juego junto con Captain Tsubasa que buenos recuerdos con mi NES :,) .

    I genuinely admire how close the game tried to stay faithful to the source material, and how much they were able to accomplish with such limited technology. But the gameplay itself is admittedly....meh.

    • @viy4581
      @viy4581 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The main drawback while also being a good thing was the plot and how the gameplay was tied to it. U had to use a certain saint to beat a boss while also having to let him die once or sac your entire team. It was painful to figure out for first timers but it was somewhat possible for fans of the anime coz the secret to defeating bosses was similar to how the actual heroes defeated them in the show
      Like seriously how was i to know that u need to reduce your whole Cosmo and life bar to 1,let the hero die,allow him to be resurrected by an angel,learn a new move,pump Cosmo and life bar to 80% and fight the boss again
