+Olivier Cadieux In fact, Tools had nothing to do with that part. I was just running as fast as possible through that part of the level and for some reason, I fell into a particular rhythmic pattern where I could catch the blocks as they fell, just jumping once I saw the sprite move up like it was on the block. If you play through this part yourself, you'll see it isn't too hard to do if you find the right timing. ~JagOfTroy
This reminds me of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the nes. So many memories... Life is so deep, and we end up taking it for granted most of the time but when we stop and look back at the memories, we begin to understand some things that transcend beyond words. My absolute favorite Castlevania game of all time. Multiple paths, multiple helper characters to get you through the game, or you could even go at it with no helper. My friend had two copies of the game many years ago, so he gave me one of them as when I'd go to visit him, and we'd play video games, I'd always, and I mean ALWAYS go straight to this game. I once had all the passwords written down for every stage for 1st and second loop for every spirit helper in the game, that's how much time I put into it. Still have my cart today, and even have the Windows PC Castlevania and Contra collection, where this game is on it, along with CV1 and Simon's Quest, as well as Contra and Super C.
I beat this game once and I never knew have 3 ending, I just remember I finish the game with Syfa, and believe me was so hard for me. One of the Best New game ever! Good old memories!
Don't care how old this is or what system it's on its epic and separates the men from the boys. Yeah it's tuff but that's what drives me to try and beat it. Incredible game.
For anyone having a hard time on the boss fight level 9 (against yourself),I'm not as good as uploader, so you can kind of cheese him by shifting select often (disclaimer still not super easy lol), I have a decent strat for anyone not that good like myself. I jump to the right ledge, I stand on edge whipping and readying select. You're luring him to jump up there. I spam my whip, press select ideally when he jumps, his movements are so unpredictable, so I basically wait a half second the moment he jumps, this will drop him to the bottom level as he morphs. You can get 1 to 2 hits on him as he jumps, plus a cross hit. You can get at least 1 hit on him as he shifts and fall to the ground. Then I jump to middle shifting back to Trevor mid air and then run/jump to the opposite ledge. Rinse and repeat.. Buddy in the video makes this look so easy, very impressive. Don't be afraid to spam select to get around the area.
I know a man who once said this: "Can you imagine a video game starring Laura Branigan with Elphelt Valentine (Guilty Gear), Silene Rambert (Fighters' Impact aka Japanese VS.), and Leni Loud (The Loud House) as her partners in a Dracula's Curse style game? I'd pay big bucks to see that even though Laura Branigan's legacy should NOT be made for profit." Sounds interesting.
I went through the whole video and enjoyed every second of it. Thank you so much for posting this amazing playthrough! You went through all the paths and made it look so easy. This was one of my favorite games as a kid, but it was far from being easy. I never managed to beat it.
I played this game when I was a kid, and I lost the cartridge.... and later on I picked up castlevania 2, and got this game confused with castlevania 1.... and I was wondering if my memory was faded or something.... but no. This was the game that I played when I was little. I am going to get my paws on this game again once I sell some of the old games in my collection that I never play. Quality over quantity.
Melissa Turner hell, I'd go for one of those hybrid consoles where you can play nes, snes, and genesis games together. You might save some money going that route.
***** Yea, the full experience of blowing in the catridge for 10 minutes. Ragequitting when the game freezes before you get the password. xD ~JagOfTroy
CrazyasaFox The game probably freezes because of the bad practice of blowing into cartridges, whichs causes oxidation. blow it with something dry and cool or just wave it around a bit if needed.
It's funny to see how the japanese version is quite easier than the US one in many aspects, but Dracula's first form is much more faster when it attacks than the US one, making it more difficult to not get hit. His final form however is incredibly easy, lasers never go up so you're basically out of danger when you're on the moving platforms... The US one is a pain in the ass when you don't know the right pattern to clear it's final form. Great longplay, you really know the game perfectly !
Another great game that really showcased the power of the NES. This was also sort of the turning point of a great series. While it managed to revert back to the classic feel of the first game, it also retained some of the elements of the second game, namely a bit more story added in throughout the game play and less linearity.
imo this is much better than rondo of blood. multiple pathways, play as 4 different characters, more difficult and larger game. i think the reasons why hardcore cv fans consider ROB the greatest are: because it is a direct prequel to sotn; has anime cutscenes; not as unfairly hard as the "butchered port" on the snes; and it was released in an unpopular console with a cd based feature which adds a lot to its "cool" factor. rondo is better than cv4 tho

I miss the times when videogame sequels were actually superior.
Tell that to Uncharted 2
It's a prequel, actually. But I get your point.
Curse of the moon is out and looks like a sequel to this
greyfox4577 now we have to worry about developers butchering our favorite games
Tell that to the culling 2 xD
Came here after the Dead by Daylight's announcement of Castlevania chapter just 10 minutes ago! Featuring Dracula and Trevor Belmont.
IMO this game has the best atmosphere and graphic design of all the NES games
great gameplay, great music, great characters, an absolute jewel classic game !
Castlevania III best game in the series. Played it to bits when it came out
Also beat this game back in the day with Sypha and Trevor, and I was using the NES turbo controller with the weird circular D-pad. 👍
NES Max? That's quite an accomplishment because that dpad is awkward!
1:21:48 HOW DID YOU...!? :O
+Olivier Cadieux epic escape.
+류창우 Nope, tool assisted
+Olivier Cadieux In fact, Tools had nothing to do with that part.
I was just running as fast as possible through that part of the level and for some reason, I fell into a particular rhythmic pattern where I could catch the blocks as they fell, just jumping once I saw the sprite move up like it was on the block. If you play through this part yourself, you'll see it isn't too hard to do if you find the right timing.

+LegitimatePride This is not a TAS ;D
chuckobscure almost all of the videos, not this. Try it again ;D
This reminds me of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the nes. So many memories... Life is so deep, and we end up taking it for granted most of the time but when we stop and look back at the memories, we begin to understand some things that transcend beyond words. Nostalgia and dejavu play key roles in each of our existences.
Pues al fin al cabo este juego lo hizo la misma empresa de las tortugas ninja ..konami
Just finished this on the Switch through the Anniversary Collection. Tough, tough game, but a lot of fun.
Long play video game uploads saved my sanity during COVID. Now I enjoy them with my insomniac writing binges
That damn doppelganger fight took me a long time to beat. Nice trick switching between heroes :-)
Jump Heroes
Jump Heroes DX
First appearance of those pesky Doppelgangers...who also appear in Bloodstained of course.
So satisfying to to see you fly through every level without dying you must be a Pro gamer as mush as i am. After all this a great scary folklore game set in Transylvania.
in case no one has read the recent news, the Netflix series "Castlevania" will be based around the events of this game
DantesonofSparda85 yup, and it's awesome!
Yeah, but shame they never introduced Grant Danasty in all 4 episodes.
@@arkanjoteixeira No its not. Its garbage anime hack of an american TV Series. The writer hasnt even played the friggin games. But even so. I always thought it looked like absolute crap before knowing it
@@arkanjoteixeira Look if you want an actual good animation of something that is closest to Dracula. Watch Vampire Hunter D anime. Way better.
@@kejiri3593 Ye, I take back what I said.
It's clearly not that good.
Thanks for doing this :) I could never beat this game and it's really satisfying to see someone complete it. You make it look so easy :P
My pleasure!
Come back and check out our other longplays any time!

😮😂😂🎉😢😮😅
This is a really clean and patient playthrough of this difficult game. Bravo!
I beat this game once and I never knew have 3 ending, I just remember I finish the game with Syfa, and believe me was so hard for me.
One of the Best New game ever!
Good old memories!
There are 4, one for each of the 3 spirit helpers, and one for Trevor if he completes the game without ever picking up a spirit helper.
Caen Viso wow i tried to beat with belmont but only got to dracula at the end and it was game over from there.
"New" game
Caen Viso new? Shits like 30 years old
So glad that construction crew left all those turkeys in the stone work
According to the manual, it is a Leg of Werewolf. Simon is luckier that they left him Chicken (or was it Beef?) in his games.
"We have one more Smash announcement"
*Simon*
*Whips it good!*
dragonball4ever well simon is here now
Aaaaand it happened!
Finally!!! The trailer was awesome! It clearly reminded me of when Castlevania was what it's supposed to be!
This is Trevor though
Well whaddaya know this aged well! LMAO 😂
I know a man who once said this:
"Can you imagine a video game starring Laura Branigan with Elphelt Valentine (Guilty Gear), Silene Rambert (Fighters' Impact aka Japanese VS.), and Leni Loud (The Loud House) as her partners in a Dracula's Curse style game? I'd pay big bucks to see that even though Laura Branigan's legacy should NOT be made for profit."
Sounds interesting.
1:21:37 - that whole scene right there, some really skilled jumping. I thought you were a goner for sure!
I went through the whole video and enjoyed every second of it. Thank you so much for posting this amazing playthrough! You went through all the paths and made it look so easy. This was one of my favorite games as a kid, but it was far from being easy. I never managed to beat it.
I beat this game without too much trouble, but I struggled to beat Castlevania 2 because of all the mysteries.
"Quality over quantity. " Can't agree more with that.
~JagOfTroy
I'm thinking about buying another NES specifically for this game.
Melissa Turner
hell, I'd go for one of those hybrid consoles where you can play nes, snes, and genesis games together. You might save some money going that route.
*****
Yea, the full experience of blowing in the catridge for 10 minutes. Ragequitting when the game freezes before you get the password. xD
~JagOfTroy
Ohhh Castlevania, i was having my old nostalgia attack earlier today, great saga of games in deed
I like how you went back to the Alucard line halfway through!
I loved this game
Still absolutely blown away by the music.
This game fucking haunts me! I have a difficult time passing it yet you make it look like a piece of cake haha
Another great game that really showcased the power of the NES. This was also sort of the turning point of a great series. While it managed to revert back to the classic feel of the first game, it also retained some of the elements of the second game, namely a bit more story added in throughout the game play and less linearity.
From this to the Castlevania anime. Truly a legendary story We certainly can't have someone creating a bad world filled with evil, now can we?
During the Pandemic I was playing that game and BLK 3-04 always gives me sad memories 😔
imo this is much better than rondo of blood. multiple pathways, play as 4 different characters, more difficult and larger game. i think the reasons why hardcore cv fans consider ROB the greatest are: because it is a direct prequel to sotn; has anime cutscenes; not as unfairly hard as the "butchered port" on the snes; and it was released in an unpopular console with a cd based feature which adds a lot to its "cool" factor. rondo is better than cv4 tho
🙏Congratulations Castlevania lll Draculas's Curse!🙏
One of the GREATEST games ever made!
Crazy to see the show stay consistent to the game while still being a blast
Who's here because of the Castlevania Netflix series?
me
yep.
Me
Moi
you nubs probably didn't even know the game existed until the show came out
I have never seen this game played so expertly. Great upload man. My hats off to you.
37:44 i love the song of this level, is amazing *--* Ost Aquarius
I always liked this game, so I was jazzed to realize the Netflix show was based on it.
Syph is the best in my opinion but Grant is pretty useful in later levels if you go down Alucard's path.
~JagOfTroy
The intro is awesome as if I were watching the film.
1:29:00
"Sypha!" "Trevor!" "Sypha!" "Trevor!" "Sypha!" "Trevor!" "Sypha!" "Trevor!" "Sypha!" "Trevor!" "Sypha!" "Trevor!"
Hmmmmm, this looks familiar.
"Don't you mean Syfa?" - Google.
“Charlotte!” “Jonathan!” “Charlotte!” “Jonathan!” “Charlotte!” “Jonathan!” “Charlotte!” “Jonathan!” “Charlotte!” “Jonathan!” “Charlotte!” “Jonathan!”
"Belnades and Belmont."
"Belmont and Belnades."

1:21:48 - Achievement unlocked: "Holy shit Boy...!"
THE PINNACLE OF NES GAMING 🙌🏿
This soundtrack is fire
one of the greatest games ever.
52:08 the original Alucard was Mr. Bean lmao
Medusa heads + instant death falls = authentic Castlevania experience
Very nicely played! You make this game look so easy… 😂
Wow. That was thorough! I love this game, and the Atlantis level is just so impressive.
