The golden years of the Ottoman Empire come to life in a television series. The life of Suleiman the Magnificent is preparing to be a guest in your homes in all its glory. Get ready to experience the era with ambition, loves, wars and all the struggle.
Prince Solomon, with his closest man, Ibrahim Pargam Ibrahim receives the bad news in a hunt. His father Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan passed away. Prince Suleyman sets out for Istanbul without waiting. Prince Süleyman quickly reaches the capital. He attends the culus ceremony without waiting. His life changed in one day. He started his life as Sultan Süleyman.
Meanwhile, a galley loaded with slaves coming over the Black Sea is heading towards Istanbul. The hottest of the slaves is not yet aware that he is on a journey that will change his destiny. He is rebelling helplessly to return.
Sultan Süleyman wants to show what kind of sultan he is by the commands he gave on the first day of his sultanate. But not everyone will like these decisions. Sultan Süleyman does not hesitate to challenge all of Europe with the messages he sends.
Alex, despite all his rebellion, is brought to the Topkapi palace. His attitude attracted the attention of Valide Sultan from the first moment. But it won't be long before Alex learns the rules of the palace. He chooses a great target. Alex, Sultan Suleyman's first night on the way to attract his attention. Sultan Suleiman's wife Mahidevran just arrived from the palace of Manisa. He is looking forward to seeing his wife.

Sultan Süleyman, padişahlığının ilk gününde verdiği buyruklarla nasıl bir padişah olduğunu göstermek ister. Ama bu kararlar herkesin hoşuna gitmeyecektir. Sultan Süleyman ise gönderdiği mesajlarla, tüm Avrupa’ya meydan okumaktan çekinmez.
Alex, tüm isyankarlığına rağmen, Topkapı sarayına getirilir. Onun bu tavrı ilk andan itibaren Valide Sultan’ın dikkatini çeker. Ama Alex’in sarayın kurallarını öğrenmesi uzun sürmez. Kendisine büyük bir hedef seçer. Alex, Sultan Süleyman’ın karşısına çıktığı ilk gecede onun ilgisini çekmeyi başarır. Sultan Süleyman’ın eşi Mahidevran ise Manisa sarayından yeni gelmiş. Eşi ile görüşmeyi sabırsızlıkla beklemektedir.

I laughed so hard when ibraheem was listening to Suleiman’s love confession to Hurrem, you can tell while he has smile on the face yet was 100% screaming and having heart attacks inside, you can almost hear his “dude wtf wait what now I’m protecting wait what zhfisgabkdgv”

Beautiful scene. Finally, showing just how much Suleiman really loved Hurrem, he wasn't willing to live without her, was willing to break traditions and make her his legal wife and Empress. Just wish the show was more true to actual history with the rest of their story.
Exactly they kept on destroying their love by adding fictional characters like princess isabella and firuze etc. Instead of doing this I wish they would’ve showed more of suleiman and Hürrem’s actual love story which lasted throughout their lifetime
I agree , I get it has to be some dramatised story , but people don't realise Sullyiman in real life loved Hurrem so much he became completely monogomus with her. Not like in the series where his eye wanders. !

Ibrahim was the brains behind the Ottoman expansion Westwards and alliance with France against the Habsburgs. It is good (for us Westerners) that - because of the intrigues of Hurrem and the irrational passions and fears of the Sultan - Ibrahim ended up dead, otherwise the Ottomans could have been successful in their attempts to maintain Hungary and conquer the Italian Peninsula, including Rome.

This show isn't Historically accurate, but....the plot they made for it is a bit more realistic than the real History. The real story of Hurrem and Suleiman was more of a fairytale because Hurrem in real history hardly put any effort into her relationship with Suleiman...it was very easy flowing. He was smitten by her, had multiple children with her, then married her and made her the first Haseki Sultan, and most importantly, their relationship was monogamous the whole time. She didn't go through all the things that have been shown in the show, like conflicting with Valide and the Sultan's sisters. Mahidevran was the only core rival of Hurrem, and so was Ibrahim. But things were easier for Hurrem in real life than shown here. However, the show is more about what happens in reality because usually, we go through a lot before we get something magnificent!
From my reading, yes they were devoted and loyal to each other.
Indeed. While I don’t like the cheating aspects in show and the continuous fighting of Hurrem with her sister in laws but for some reason they sound more realistic than what we’ve heard of real history. Real history definitely looks more fairytale like.
Well.. we never know. But I don't think she put no effort into this relationship. You forget that she learned manners, how to dress up, music, language, history, polytics, and, most importantly, - how to charm the king. I don't think that without all of these, she could easily win his heart

Trolls really hate it was hurrem whom the Sultan loved, freed and married. They cannot accept a Ruthenian converted to Islam to follow her loved one. On the other hand some trolls cant accept that a slave Ruthenian was freed and married by the Sultan was a non Turkish, thats why they hated hurrem a lot, even insulted, humiliated, and discriminated and doubted her of converting to Islam. And pitied the Sultan called him he was fooled, bewitched, manipulated, made him a slave. This comments of these trolls they maybe coming from the west or they're turkish, they cant accept the facts. The series shown their love and confirmed by history how they loved each other. These people were so bitter, pity them.

@@mohamedalilemkecher3321 not true, marriage with concubine was forbidden but not marriage overall. Sultan by that time had freed Hyrrem. I have to say though I really hate Suleyman for killing all Ibrahim, Mustafa, Bayazit ecc. He did so many bad things just for a woman. Plus he treated Mahidevran the mother of his first son like trash and never followed the religious rule of treating them equal and give them same amount of his time. Overall he lost his reasoning because of love.

Additional fact: The reason for that wasn’t because his mother was necessarily against their marriage, but because it was not allowed for a concubine (like Hurrem) to rise above the ranking of the Queen Mother.

Selim granted the haseki sultan title to nurbanu to elevate her above all his many consorts and concubines but she was still below the valide sultan. Safiye was also haseki sultan under valide nurbanu sultan, I don't think the reason was this.

And hurrem and children transfered to TopKapi and made it their residence. Its in Topkapi where government offices were held, and hurrem was Sulaiman's state and political adviser until her death, she was the first haseki to sit in the council to participate in the discussion of state and political affairs.

Suleyman is as smart as Hurrem but where she wears her hart on her tongue he is quiet but lethal. I thought he didn’t see Ibrahim for what he was but he did. He must have really loved him: he protected him until he no longer could. Ibrahim should have realized in this moment that he was an open book to Suleyman.
In show Ibrahim and Hurrem (+Valida Sultan his mother) are people he loved more than his life that’s why he always looked past their wrong schemes. This scene totally showed that he wasn’t blind to Ibrahim’s jealousy towards Hurrem and deliberately made him her protector.

Yes Suleiman is fool towards other women with beauty to show off his jewelry gifts. Marrying Hurrem was the best best thing he ever did during his reign. Suleiman wanted to rule Suleiman. Hurrem showed him love and more apart from honouring him with his gorgeous children.
His children were smart and took the best from both parents. Suleiman's friends were not really good friends and Hurrem recognized that so she was forever shielding him from them...they couldn't poison her because she was not a weed instead she was forever blooming precious flower whose life changed against her will. Other women were either a snake 🐍 and withered away like dying weeds from their own poisoned minds...they are so poetically romantic and so in love 😍 through and through their souls to their bones...Magnificent Century outshone Resurrection but two different era 💙❤💜reciting poems to each other touches the heart strings every time...

This episode really reminds me how hurrem began her life in the palace. The life of Hurrem sultana really motivates me of how a slave can turn into a queen with her hard work and smartness

I’m curious as to why they do their wedding like this with their deputies as their proxy’s and why they themselves are not vowing as themselves in front of the one marrying them? I would appreciate any explanation anyone can give me. :)
Marriage by proxy was actually the norm for royalty of most countries in that era. It was totally legal and valid. In some situations it can even be done today in some countries. Also, in context of the drama, Sultan is deeply rewarding and honoring his dearest most trusted friend, by having him to stand Proxy for the wedding. In context that they are a Muslim community, AND she is the Sultan's woman, Hurrem was never to be around any "intact" man except him, so she couldn't be there. By having a male proxy, it was handled in a legally binding manner.

This is also an acceptable way of marriage in Islam. Either the bride and groom both agree to get married and say 'I accept' directly in front of witnesses. Or the witnesses/representative from both sides are there and they consent to the marriage on behalf of the bride and the groom.

Denoted she was a slave in Ottoman empire. Just like all undocumented migrants are given 1 January birthday.
Hurrem was a convert,a girl who was snatched from her land and presented as a slave to Suleiman. She had no family to speak of. In Islam,when you're getting married and you don't know the name of your father,you are refered to as son or daughter of Abdullah. In Arabic,Abdullah means slave of Allah. We Muslims consider all human beings as slaves of Allah regardless of religion because Allah created everything to worship and obey him.
Hurrem is a Muslim convert so her Christian family isn’t recognised as her family. That’s why Abdullah (man/slave of Allah) is used for a converted Muslim as their parents unless their real parents have also converted.
