Made mine a couple of weeks ago and can confirm, brilliant fun build that is pretty much useless ... But I loved the video!!

If I may, suggest you solder the flat parts, resistors, ic's first, then capacitors, diodes, and the tall last. I did it in a factory forty years ago, and kind of improved the means. a piece of pcb with foam glued to it, and clips, will hold parts including transformers. Cheers,

One for the "journey not the destination" category!

I think probably 0.01% of kits end up useful to me 😂

I love little kits like this. They are fun to play with if not always 100% practical.
I was thinking hang it on an RC car or rover bot as an additional environmental sensor.
use it with GPS to plot geomagnetic anomalies in your backyard...for science.
"Kids!...KIDS you can play with it in a minute!... after the science."

That's not a bad idea. Hook it up to a robot mower and have it raise an alert and stop when it detects anything

even though i've never soldered in my life, i find these videos intensely rewarding and relaxing.. like those slow videos from scandinavia of a train journey that lasts 7 hours and is shown in real time..

I just finished my kit and my speaker wont stop buzzing. I turned the pot all the way up and down and the speaker just wont stop buzzing. Did I burn up a diode soldering it in or had a bad part? I was carful populating the board so I am kinda surprised I had an issue. Any suggestions?

Wonder if the range might be increased by using an external bigger coil. Just bought this kit so will be giving that a go.
