This would be great. We've been in the process if trying to get all our permits to bake and sell cookies for the last 3 months and it been a huge PIA. They won't let us use our kitchen because we have rough sawn wood on our ceiling, 9 feet above our working surfaces
It did not pass yet. It passed the agriculture vote in May as bill S2761, then went to the Senate Ways and Means and was going to be shot down, now there is an amendment to do a "study" to see how things are done in other states and will be voted on again next May. 🤞 Call your Senators and push for this bill. I think if it mandates a food safety course it would pass.
Massachusetts has recently introduced updates to its cottage food laws to expand opportunities for home-based food entrepreneurs. Under Bill S.2761, which was reported in May 2024, new provisions allow cottage food operators to produce and sell non-hazardous foods (e.g., baked goods, jams, and certain fermented foods) directly to consumers without needing a commercial kitchen. These sales can occur in person, at farmers markets, public events, roadside stands, or even through telephone or online orders. To simplify compliance, the law standardizes food safety rules across all municipalities, so local boards cannot impose stricter requirements than the state’s standards Additionally, the Department of Public Health (DPH) has created a voluntary registry for cottage food businesses, allowing operators to use a personal ID on their product labels instead of their home address, enhancing privacy. New labeling requirements also mandate detailed information, including allergen disclosures and a statement that the product is exempt from state licensing requirements
hi, any information about selling microgreens to a restaurant that I am growing from my home. Do I need any food and safety license? If yes, then is there any particular code it falls under? I am referring to Application for Initial Licensure for Food Processing and/or Distribution at Wholesale In Accordance with M.G.L. C.94, § 305C and/or 105 CMR 500.000
What are your thoughts on this ?

Thank you for your reply. Yes, will do.
Do you have a link to your Mass food laws video?
I think this bill passed, but I'm not sure where to verify that info. Do you know how I find that information?
Where do I go to obtain the license?
I’m in MA. Does anyone know if this passed?

Unfortunately, the bill has not been heard yet and therefore has not passed. All previous attempts at this bill in years past have also not passed.

Go to your local Board of Health first. Then I'm pretty sure you'll need a state inspection to wholesale products.
