    Non native, no degree - $700 to $900
    Non native, with degree - $900 to $1,600
    Native speaker, no degree - $1,000 to $1,400
    Native speaker with a degree in a field that is related to education - $1,500 to honestly about $4,000 if you work at Northbridge.
    The biggest bit of advice is, if you're a native speaker and even have a TEFL.... DO NOT TAKE LESS THAN $1,000 PER MONTH
    if you're a native speaker and have a degree, DO NOT TAKE LESS THAN $1,500. schools will ask you "how much do you expect for salary?". DO NOT LET THEM CHOOSE IT AND DO NOT TRY AND BE THE NICE GUY WHO ASKS FOR LESS THAN THE AVERAGE
    Cost of living is too wide of a spectrum to even explain. All depends on what kind of lifestyle you want and what kind of apartment you want.

    There are a couple of other factors;
    1. Whether its a budget, mid-priced or premium school.
    2. If its a school that has, or aspires to have, International accreditation then they will not employ many unqualified teachers or will at least expect you to get accredited within a reasonable time.
    3. Some difference in salaries sometimes between primary, middle school and high school especially if teaching A level or AP

    Tom, FYI, was in the AVSE teacher job assistance program with 5 teachers, 3 South African's, 2 Americans. All of us found a job within one week of course completion. My salary is $1000 per month as an English teacher only, working 25 hrs a week, other teachers' salaries are higher, but some are asked to teach other subjects as well, such as math, history, or science. I had no previous teaching experience, but a couple of the other teachers did have experience. Are you playing anywhere this weekend?

    I will be traveling to Vietnam for the first time next week. I have heard so many videos about people being scammed at the airport when buying a sim card. What did you do when you went to Vietnam and needed a sim card and ride to your hostel from the airport?

      My Cambodian SIM card has agreements with Thailand and Vietnam to Roam. It’s like I pay $1.50 fee each day I use it roaming, and I get my regular plan I use here. - I don’t know about scams. Inside the airport there are phone shops aggressively selling SIM cards with tourist plans.

    I was just trying to fill out the e arrival card declaration online and it shows that they want payment online to get through it, so it will let us submit it. I thought we were supposed to be able to still pay cash at the immigration on arrival at the airport in Phnom Penh when entering Cambodia by plane???????????

    • @TomTripsOut
      @TomTripsOut  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I tried to google this and look into it. It says as of Sept 1st 2024 they want it all done paperless and electronically. I couldn’t get a clear answer saying they don’t accept cash, so I’m not 100% sure. However From what I see online, they are trying to eliminate that part of the process where people line up to pay with cash. The electronic way, everyone just goes through much faster.

    How much have you been paying for your bus ticket from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Mong City? I just went to 3 bus ticket places by Night Market and they want $39, $46 and $76 for a one way ticket with no toilet on the bus and a 7 hr. Trip. I thought my roommates were paying $17-$24 earlier this summer when gas was higher priced. My landlord thinks something is off as well and thought that ticket is only supposed to run $13-$20...

Also you cannot always choose what subject you are asked to teach. English is most common and if you are non native English speaker they will offer you less salary. I’d reccomend Vietnam as they will pay more for your qualifications. I’d recommend the programs with AVSE because they include job assistance. www.avse.edu.vn

    I'm old and retired in the US. Considering Cambodia very seriously for the low cost of living and escaping the inflation here in Biden's America ! My SS is about $1600 / mo. and the Capital appears more expensive than Siem Reap ? Expats living there claim $800 is more than enough to be 'comfortable' and not wanting for anything ! --- If true - half my income could be saved with a somewhat frugal lifestyle ? - - - I heard reported some 250,000 US Citizens have moved to Cambodia this past decade - a combination of digital nomads teachers and retired people. Apparently many are enjoying what the country has to offer ? Low cost of living - and - for people over 55 the best easiest and cheapest "retirement visa" I have seen anywhere in the world !!! - - - I enjoy hearing all about the country and enjoyed your video. > th-cam.com/video/BcqgO1MTDR4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=jOy_HH36i0HTrfF9
