Byron, thank you for this excellently produced video. I go to Kruger as often as I can, but I have never been to Mapungubwe. Your video convinced that I have to het their soon. I think I will go in summer. It is just beautiful.
Thank you Thinus, that’s one of the best things to hear. I got very lucky with those flowers. Apparently they sometimes only last a few weeks after a lot of rain, so hopefully you can experience that too. I plan to try it in the dry season as well to see the difference.
Thank you so much. This is a work of true beauty. I love Mapunguwe. I have visited in each season and stayed in each camp. This has captured the soul of Mapungubwe. Elephants and dolphins seem to capture the authentic soul of all life.
Thank you so much, Wendy. I’m so happy that you think I’ve done it some kind of justice 🙏🏼 I like that you include dolphins there as well. I totally agree!
A stunning video I esp loved the sound track just makes all the shots come to life even more. What time of year do you film this video. I love the flowers, the green ness of the bush and the ealry morning light. This park has always been on my bucket list but would like to go when the park is lush and green. thank you for the amazing videos .
Thanks so much Geoff! This was late January - I got very lucky with those flowers as they only bloom temporarily after a lot of rain. I would highly recommend it anytime of the year, I think it’s very under appreciated.
Hi Byron, living in the Netherlands and missing the South African nature and wildlife, a film like this brings us back. Looking at a beautiful green Mapungubwe makes us want to visit the park again, after our first visit in June 2023, but this time in January. Thank you very much.
Glad I can bring the Wild to you all the way in Netherlands! I would highly recommend it. Apparently you have to be lucky to get the flowers but it’s beautiful either way. I, on the other hand really want to try it in the dry season. Thanks for watching.
I was really moved by your emotional reaction to the elephants near the hide. This resonates very much with me. No matter how many hundreds I have seen and how often, they always have an impact on me. The most special moment was being surrounded by them at night in our open truck. A full moon shining its silvery light onto us and the rumbling and sniffing and chewing and their smell was all around us. A youngster hit our bull bar softly with his tusk - he was apparently so amazed what sounds he‘s able to produce, so he tried it several times more. Were it it tears of laughter or joy or overwhelming emotions in my eyes? I think it was all of that. Thank you for your wonderful video, Byron!
Great Video and Thank You for Sharing with Us. Incredible, we Can’t Believe What We See. November 2023. We were in Mapungubwe and for a 3/4 day we went tothe Western Part of the Park, too. Was incredible try - nearly no Vegetation, Only Dust, and Nearly no Animals. So we can’t believe what We see at your Video. The hide war looking mud only and now soooo much water and huge Elefant herds. It’s the Total Differenz. For Our Holiday we booked tended campat the Western side first but we were so happy That We changed to the Eastern Part Before because it was soooo a Great difference between east and west. This November we will go again to mapungubwe. Let’s see what we will see. I love the huge baobab trees.
Yes, there’s a huge difference in the seasons. I was there recently and it was very dry like how you’ve described. Both beautiful in their own way though. Thanks
Gorgeous landscapes, awe inspiring sightings …am really loving your videos. You have a great way of bringing nature on screen, great photos and really enjoy your narrative, personal and pure. Hope you make many more videos!
I absolutely loved this ...and LOVED the emotion that you showed throughout the show. I am now a subscriber and can't wait to watch more of your videos. Like you, I am in LOVE with Africa. My first trip there changed my life....literally. I wrote an award winning book about my experience...even though I never intended to become an author. BUT Africa changes you....and speaks to your heart in a way that is impossible to put into words...although I did try!
Wow, thank you so much! Sounds like you definitely understand what Africa is about… it’s also impossible to really put that feeling fully into a video so I know what you mean. We can only try 😄
It would take me a long time to express what I was feeling about this journey. But in a nutshell, unforgettable. Everywhere was so lush. Your work is mind blowing. These videos bring me so much joy. Byron can you please tell me the month you were there filming this journey. I wish you joy and happiness always. ❤🇦🇺
@@WildWildJourneys its the perfect mix of commentary and wildlife. youtube is full of wannabes. you beat them all in wildlife videos. i cant wait to visit s. africa in June!
Amazing!! The peace and tranquility that comes with being there, being so small in front of such beauty, is my paradise on this planet, ugh how I miss SouthAfrica...but there is less time left to return, in two more weeks I will be there again. Thank you for the feeling you put in your videos, they make me feel again that emotion and those feelings that only SouthAfrica has given me.
Thanks Mariana! They say that feeling of being small and insignificant you get from nature is the gateway to peace.. really glad you’re able to connect with these videos and hope you enjoy your time back in SA!
Awesome, authentic content and quality videography, excellent stuff, thanks for sharing. We're heading that way in March, your video certainly inspires us.
Thanks for the beautiful content Byron! Living in the UK at the moment and missing SA and the bush so much. Watching this makes me feel just a little less homesick. Looking forward to the next one ❤
Thanks for sharing another beautiful video! I've enjoyed all your videos, especially Northern Kruger. You are incredible lucky with your sightings :) Hope the good luck continues :)
Amazing great quality footage presented in one of the best videos I've seen in a long time. Awesome storytelling, top notch. Please continue your journey and keep on sharing with us. I just became a follower. Thanks for sharing👌

Your imagery is awesome. Big fan. How do you like shooting with the R6? And kind of settings are you using? I shoot with an 80D and a sigma 700mm when I go to SA. But I can tell the clarity differences between the sigma and canon.
Thanks so much! I love the R6. Think it’s great value for what you get. One thing - It can sometimes overheat if taking a long video on a hot day but it’s only happened twice to me so far. I’m shooting video in manual and adjusting iso and exposure according to light and the scene… I like sigma as well. Used to use their 100-400 and it really did well

Something is off with the dynamic range on this video. Did you change some settings?
Not that I’m aware of, but it’s possible. Had only been doing this for a few months at this point
