Byron, you are a master film-maker and story-teller and have just quite possibly posted the best ever video about Mana Pools on TH-cam! But more than that, you are a super human being - having you along on this wild wild journey was such a pleasure and we can’t wait to share more sightings, beers and jokes with you in the future, hopefully in the wildest of places… Until next time 😉
@@WildWildJourneys He's not lying. I've wanted to go to Mana Pools since watching one of his videos, and have seen many since, but this is something else. Your skills as a filmmaker are special. @@Scott_Lawless Scott, thank you so much. Glad your toddler enjoyed it too.. I kept thinking if a child had to make up a magical, natural place - it would look like mana pools. Hope you manage to get there soon, you have so much to look forward to 🙌🏼

This is the first time you have appeared on my feed, this is the best cinematography I have seen on a Safari-based video. You are an incredible talent, absolutely extraordinary.
Zimbabwean here .This is really one of the best videos I've seen on Mana Pools. Nicely done. Old people in the rural areas will tell you, big tuskers like Boswell were once very common. Trophy hunting plus poaching have both had a devastating effect. We have to find a way to rebuild that gene pool
I am from Zimbabwe... I have been homesick from the moment I left, this gave me a taste of home. I cried, but tears of happiness and nostalgia. Thank you.
I miss my home Zimbabwe, I miss the kind people, I miss all the gifts God gave us. I worked in Victoria Falls for 3 years. Thank you for this wonderful showcase of my home.❤️❤️❤️
It has been 30 years since i was there experiencing what you did. Thrilled that the magic and charm is still there , i could feel it through your skilled use of the camera. Thank you for sharing. To walk on foot through those landscapes surrounded by undisturbed wildlife , feels ancient and primal you don't just see it , you feel it.
Wow wow wow, Byron.....you are an incredible story teller and you weave the magic of your spectacular photography and videography with incredible musical score, which just adds to whole package of viewing magic which captivates from start to finish. Well done Brother You are amazing and I look forward to every vlog because I know it will be an absolutely sensory delight. Well well done, and pls keep them coming In awe of your talent 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This took me back there with you and I could almost smell it again.. Kiora.. Much gratitude.
Words fail to describe this absolutely STUNNING 50mins which transported me to the top of my bucket list! Byron, you have a gift I've not seen in any other film-maker! I sincerely hope our paths cross one day somewhere on the African plains or a dry river bed....!
Needless to say, you've done it again. Taken us on a special journey into the beautiful bush. Some truly amazing footage and experiences. Well done Byron.
Byron, WildWild Journeys is taking you places man Magical content and filming once again Bud You're living the dream indeed man Keep up the great work and following your dreams man Exceptional work and look forward to the next adventure you're heading to Well done Bud!
Byron, I (Ian) echo all the praises that other subscribers have heaped on you, your quiet commentary and wonderful camera work lets us viewers sit back and take in those beautiful scenes of a very magical place. Takes me back 50 years when I lived in Rhodesia and had to undertake border patrols along that magnificent river. Walking in that bush, under those big trees among the animals was quite spiritual. Rammed home the beauty of nature in all it's glory. Unfortunately my tour of duty was cut short when a hyena wandered into our ambush site one night and took a bite of part of my scalp leaving part of my soul forever in Eden. Thank you so much for this video.
Thanks so much, Ian. My goodness, that sounds like quite the experience to say the least. Sounds like the place had such a great impact on you to the point where you even have a positive attitude regarding that unfortunate hyena encounter!
My brother, my wife and I camped there for a week about ten years ago. It was amazing! We stayed in a secluded campsite several miles from the headquarters campground. We had elephants and lions right in our camp. Words can’t describe.
We rented a truck in Zambia and drove through a lot of Zimbabwe. We didn’t hire any guides although if you are less adventurous you may want to. We had so many amazing experiences with the people and the wildlife. I just can’t wait until our children are old enough to go back again. They are lion bait size at this point.
Great video. To clear up any misconceptions the game counts are organised by WEZ (Wildlife and Environment Zimbabwe) - not the Zimbabwe National Parks - since the 1950s. Volunteers from all over the world go to Mana and Hwange to take part - all mammals are counted not just elephants - over a period of 24 hrs. The national parks do reduce conservation fees for the 72 hrs by 50% ditto camp fees. We drove to Hwange and participated this year (from Australia). Extraordinary experience - we counted over 1400 mammals at one waterhole of which about 400 were elephant. It's usually held in late September/October - WEZ announce dates early in the year.
Thanks for letting me know about that, Richard. I must’ve heard the wrong info. Yes, all animals are counted - it does sound like an amazing experience. Good to know for next time that dates from WEZ must be checked before booking with Zim Parks. Thanks again
Did not expect to get emotional watching this but here we are. I live right next to Matobo National Park in southwest Zim and can never get enough of Mana Pools. You captured it so beautifully!
Beautiful photography. I was there for the game count and have to correct you on one comment. It is NOT for free. We paid a lot of money to do that game count. 250USD per person. The money is supposed to go to infrastructure but as you stated, the camp is rundown and the management of the game is lacking. Having said that, it is a memory I will never forget and am blessed to have been able to go there twice in my life. Astounding film making.
Absolutely stunning video Byron! This must be the best video we've ever seen of my favourite park in Southern Africa, I can never get enough of Mana Pools regardless of having to drive the gauntlet of terrible roads! Your footage is truly exquisite. I loved the African Skimmer, wish I had seen them when we were there in July. You have to love Nyamepi & all it's resident ellies. You made your documentary very enyoyable, picking relaxing beautiful music, and keeping at Bay the talkative human nature, leaving the scenes and the music make its magic. Thank you.
Hello from India! Beautifully made video. I am an avid watcher of your videos. Mana pools is one special place. I have been lucky to visit Mana twice, once in 2016 and then in 2019. However, both times I stayed in few of the private camps in the park. I am not brave enough to do self camping, yet! The memories from both trips are special and still fresh in my mind. Watching Boswell doing his trick, trying to catch up (actually running) with the wild dogs as they chased and killed a kudu calf, watching a herd of buffaloes coming down to drink at Chitake Springs, their thundering hooves raising clouds of dust in the air, lions drinking from the spring late in the evening and their roars reverberating at night while lying in my tent, are memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you for virtually taking me to this special place, for I don't know when I can visit again.
Hi Vikram! Thanks so much for the kind words. Wow, sounds like you’ve experienced it all there on your visits. Hoping to see some more predators if I ever get lucky enough to return. Like you said - one special place 💯
Buddy, I have never seen a Jungle like this way before. Your every frame is a shear delight and a reference about "how to photograph a jungle". I am so sorry that I do not have enough thanks for you and my inadequacy for appreciating your masterpiece! All the very best to you for your future work! 🙏
I am gob-smacked at your beautiful videography, stunning photos and soothing music that you expertly portray in your videos. They are ‘soul-food’ to my being, and I really enjoy watching and learning from our beautiful animals here in South Africa. Looking forward to your next video.😀
Great stuff man! Super content - the quality of your filming is top-notch, and I really enjoyed watching your visit to Mana Pools. As a fellow bush lover tuning in from Europe, this brought back so many great memories of the wild. Keep up the fantastic work - I look forward to watching this channel grow.
This was a real animal lovers dream video!! Most of these parks in Africa people want to show more of their vehicles than animals!! So I almost didn’t watch it but happy I did!! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!! To be truthful I think I like animals more than humans!! Take care and God bless!! ❤
I was watching this and thinking I just have to leave a comment about this video because it's possibly the most enjoyable African wildlife videos I've ever watched. Then I read through the comments to find I've already been beaten to that accolade. The way you've captured the light and sounds and the relaxed presentation are amazing. In 2009 I did a canoe/camping safari on the Zambezi, starting from Zambia that took us to Mana Pools. Watching your video brought memories of that trip back to life. Sat here in UK I could see, hear, smell and feel that amazing place again.
Wow, thank you so much for the amazing feedback. That canoe/camping safari sounds like a great adventure! Happy that the video brought the memories back for you
Outstanding photography! You're a brilliant filmmaker! Thank you for bringing such beauty to the world. Goosebumps & lump in the throat. Oh, Africa, you are in my heart, my blood, my DNA, my soul. How blessed we are on this continent.
That the best produced film I've ever seen on YT! The background music was perfect. Until now I had not heard of Mana Pools NP before. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Nicely created Byron . It was good to meet you at Mana during my one month long stay , you kindly helped a friend with her file transfer on her PC , much appreciated . Mana is a very unique and wild park . I have photographed it for many years now , it always delivers more than one expects . But never go with expectations , this season was the best year I have experienced in terms of sightings. You did a fantastic job on your videography , well done . Best wishes Ross Sayers Photography .
@@WildWildJourneys keep up the great work Byron , you got a great channel which I throughly enjoy , this one you did justice to a special place where I was born . You had a brief stay but you captured lots in that time , Mana is doing it tough again this season with what looks like a bad drought with just about all but long pool drying up totally if they don’t receive rain soon , I fear the worst if they don’t get rain soon sadly . It’s the food the wildlife don’t have , water is plenty because of the Zambezi . Stay well .
Absolutely the best Wild Life filming I’ve ever seen. What a privilege to see all these beautiful animals especially the Elephants. The photography is stunning.
Absoluteley Beautiful ❤😅 Thank you so much The wild Dogs Stunning to see ,Elephants I do hope the Baby with the Bad leg got some help .. The Bird calls I loved just stunning Egrets Kingfisher The stalks .,Water hogs .. ,Black Mamba snake .Its Tuff on the wildlife in Droubt .,The trees are Great and to camp by the lake WOW ❤ Best from Yvonne mullion Cornwall England
Once again you've made a wonderful film. You really do have an eye for this. Thank you for an informative, excellent video. Another place for our bucket list.
As a pensioner, who was born in Tanzania and spent the first 22 years of my life in East-Africa, I thoroughly gorged my senses at the time visiting and camping in many National Parks. This was such a fantastic ’blast from the past’ and I immensely enjoyed your video. Sir, you are a master film maker and this was a stunning video diary of your time spent at Mana Pools. You have a new subscriber - thank you for providing such a wonderful video.
@ Thank you for taking the time to respond to my comment. Your skill with the lens really took me back to my days of being at one with Nature. You are a wonderful, empathetic and humble filmmaker. I am so glad to have discovered your channel and will greatly enjoy following and catching up with your work.
That was so beautiful, peaceful and relaxing, besides the filming was stunning! Thank you, I would never have been able to experience anything like this in my life…
I agree with all the other comments. I enjoyed this video so much and the music was so restful and peaceful. I'm watching from Adelaide, South Australia. ❤
This is one of the most epic videos I have seen in a long time. Your storytelling, filming, music and info on the bird species are just brilliant. Well, well done!!!
Spectacular! I have wanted to go to Africa, but I never had the opportunity. Thank you so much , this was the best video I have seen in quite some time
When I was a young kid, some 40 years ago, me and my parents went to Ngorongoro in Tanzania. I still remember it as if it was yesterday. This looks equally epic.
I worked in Mana for 5 years… Goliath Camp… and Givers was fantastic to work with… motors and engines… from the landless to the water pumps he kept the camp running.
Great video Byron! This is best video by far. The skimmer shot was incredible and Boswel showing up gave me goosebumps! Thank you for taking us with you to mana pools
Boy you had fun. Love your editing and camera eye. I believe Mana pools is in the top 4 of Africa's best national parks. I might be biased being a Zimbo myself but I am sure many would agree. The place is magical. I hope they keep the Ellies population in check otherwise we will lose all those trees that make the place a mystical paradise. The bird life is incredible too.
Thanks so much, we had the time of our lives! I would agree with that for sure even though I still many others to visit.. was also super impressed by the birdlife
Another spectacular production of wildlife and magic views. Great to see you have joined Villiers Stein he is also one of my favourites. Helps to keep me happy in the UK. Thank you.
Outstanding! What a pleasure to watch. You transported us, the audience, along with you. Incredible videography and photography. One day I too will see this beautiful place. Thank you for sharing.
Zimbabwean here, new subscriber too. Thank you for taking us along. You are one amazing storyteller, keep doing what you are doing. All the best ahead.
Fantastic video, well done. I have spent three months at Mana Pools during the Rhodesian Bush War in 1971. I was in a South African Police camp. The vegetation was much dencer and grener than in the video. I can hardly believe that it's so dry. We came across a lot of lions. Sometimes walking through our camp. Wilddogs were plenty. We counted about twenty snake slither markings in about a kilometer distance. We saw plenty black and green mambas. Clemence Coetzee was the head game ranger there. There was "hotel" , more a wood structure, it was called, "The Tree lodge Hotel" if I recall correctly, it would not have lasted until now. I would love to go back there again. Keep up the good work with the cameras.
Thank you! Wow, it’s quite fascinating to hear about what it was like back then. I often wonder how certain wild places looked and felt like a while ago and what would’ve changed… the effects of the drought were very visible, especially with the lack of good vegetation for many of the species. Would also love to experience Mana Pools at the end of the rainy season.
@WildWildJourneys I can assure you that the bush was so dense that when we rounded a corner the elephant was standing 10 meters in front of us, and I can assure you that they were not even close to as "friendly" as the ones you encountered. The previous groups for some reason ordered honey. When we took over camp there was possibly 15 boxes of honey x 24 per box. (Those riffled bottles) Every night when I was on guard duty I fetched 3 bottles or so and emptied it in a plastic tray because the Badgers visited our garbage hole. So I put that out for them. Very soon I was fetched as I approached and escorted with the tray by 5 Badgers pushing against my legs impatient to get to the try. I would go back to my post and watch them playing with the bottles I left for them to get the last of the honey out. I remember that I could read a paperback in the full moon. I eventually did four camps in Rhodesia and two in the Caprivi. Really enjoyed all of it.
@ wow, sounds like you’ve got some really interesting memories from then! Love hearing these kinds of stories. I can imagine you look back on those times with a big smile on your face. Thanks for sharing

That the best produced film I've ever seen on YT! The background music was perfect. Until now I had not heard of Mana Pools NP before. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Wow, thanks so much!
Thanks so much, Ross. It was great meeting you too. Very wise words there as well. Good to hear you had great sightings this year!
Wow, thank you so much!

Must’ve been amazing to be there for 5 years. Could tell that Givers is a remarkable man. Happy to have met him
Wow, Byron! You've got a magical gift to tell a story. Awesome video!
Thanks so much man! 🙏🏼
Soooo breathtaking and beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you 🙏
Beyond stunning, magical, emotional, absolutely amazing!!!!!
Thank you!
Great video Byron! This is best video by far. The skimmer shot was incredible and Boswel showing up gave me goosebumps! Thank you for taking us with you to mana pools
Thank you! The Skimmer might just be my new favorite bird
Your videography is excellent! Just watched from a wild, wild Wales. A new lifetime viewer right here :-)
Thanks so much - happy to be reaching Wales!
Another spectacular production of wildlife and magic views. Great to see you have joined Villiers Stein he is also one of my favourites. Helps to keep me happy in the UK. Thank you.
Absolutely beautiful frames. Exceptional editing, audio including your voice .. no words man. Living the dream

Wonderful, bucket-list stuff, hope to make it there in a few years - ex-CT living in Cusco, Peru 😊
Zimbabwean here, new subscriber too. Thank you for taking us along. You are one amazing storyteller, keep doing what you are doing. All the best ahead.
Thanks so much! Happy to have you here
Fantastic video, well done.
Wow absolutely breathtaking. How fortunate you are to experience this.
Superb program and your charm and natural way of prsenting is so appealing. I felt like i had been with you…🇨🇦👏🏻👏🏻
