@@billyflaps1771 it’s a great car for the MSRP, anything above is too much. You’re talking Mustang GT premium, just shy of an M240i, 4 cylinder Supra. If we continue to buy over MSRP the dealerships will continue to take advantage of us.
@@Luis_G919 dude i tried getting a trueno edition even before they were released on the website. On top of NYC sales tax they tried selling me the car with a 15k markup making the car almost 54k. I get its a special edition but its literally just branding and a paint job. Could take that money and buy the Darkhorse down my street that makes 2 times the horse power and torque. No one should pay more than MRSP for a 4 banger like this...
That mark up is insane. All the standard versions have been test driving this week were between $31-33k. Premiums around $35-36k. Imo the premium isn't worth the extra money. Its the same car with a little leather here and there.
The insurance keeps getting higher on these things because teenagers keep getting this as their first car for some reason and then driving in track mode, and surprise, immediately wrecking it. Please leave on traction kids, until you know what the hell you're doing.
EXACTLY!! I’m 47 and had a Trueno ordered and called insurance when it came in and it was 794 a year more than the Si I had planned to trade in for its. I’m on the fence if I’m going to do it now. Looking like I’m keeping the si.
I'm 20 and I've been driving for about 4 months. I still have yet to turn it off. The car feels like it's swaying when I drive so it's just too scary to turn off until I can fully handle the car. 2k miles driven if you were wondering and first manual.
The answer is to regulate the insurance industry abuses. The type of car you drive or your age should not be allowed to be used for underwriting purposes. Only your years licensed and driving record should count.
I love it. Especially the nose for looks. I miss driving a manual 5 speed. I had a Celica Sport when I was in High School. That car kicked ass. My dad loves Corvettes. The GR-86 is in my wheelhouse.
Sorry to say the Track Mode does not change anything in exhaust note, steering or throttle response. It only reduces traction and stability control interference and this can give you some serious scares if you don't know what you are doing. The car breaks the tail out even with everything on so I would really recommend driving with all assists on when on public roads. It is called "Track" mode for a reason.
Yes, we were able to get a 2020 BRZ (the one with 200hp) to nearly do a 180 with all assists on. My buddy did a little slide out of a parking lot and it did it very nicely and very controlled (empty roads at 11pm), but that just goes to show that even with all assists on the thing can still step out on you. Track mode pretty much leaves you on your own
Subaru charged me MSRP & $500 down. If lightweight RWD is your idea of fun just go buy one of these. Enough power to do all fun stuff but get to enjoy foot to floor on the street. Very balanced may not have much steering feel but she communicates well. Fun without bite.
They quoted me that too, I was just so upset they didn’t have the GR86, I like the grill/suspension on the gr better. But it’s not worth dealing with these scam artist at Toyota, might just grab the Subaru 86
I'm picking up my magnetite gray '22 in a few days. It's a base but the last owner installed the premium spoiler, custom wheels and air suspension. Looking forward to driving it!
@@RAY_FILET 36k after tax and dealer markup. Had to make a 2k deposit to have it brought to the Midwest from Texas. Super clean and 23k miles. 18k for the Corolla I'm trading, which helps.
I went to those swindlers cuz they promised me this car for 32k out the door then ran my credit, and came back with a whole bunch of lies trying to force a premium package into the deal for 5k that I know isn’t mandatory, the out the door came up to 39k before any taxes or interest were calculated. Wasted my time and ran my credit knocking me a few points for no reason. They’re actually so trashy for that. And the guy tried to argue with me even though I had the quote in writing, FROM HIM. He took the quote and threw it away. Like bro. You can’t quote me over the phone then upcharge me by about 25% then pretend it never happened. That’s so scummy
Agree $47K is a rip-off (I would NEVER pay over MSRP), but I would rather have a GR86 than a Mustang. It would be a close decision between a 2023 Mustang Mach 1 and a GR86 (GR86 would be more fun because it is so light), but I would rather have a GR86 than a 2024 Mustang Darkhorse (the new Mustang doesn't look as good as the 2023 and has a ridiculous screen on the interior).
Environment also makes a difference. NA cars this matters a lot. Turbos it reallly doesn’t. You test a NA car in say Colorado at 5000 ft above sea level and your gonna get a shit time..

I call it the frugal man's Porshe. The manual GR86 comes in under 2800lbs on a scale. Now that's a true sports car vs a car like BMW M2 or M4 at 3800lbs to 3986lbs
So basically you are looking at a car that is not that fast, it gives you not that good of a gas mileage, the interior is mono color, and by the time you get this out the door, you are almost 40K in the hole. Come on Toyota you can do better.
But what other light-weight, manual transmission, rear wheel drive cars exist? There is the Miata, but it has zero practicality. It is only useful as a toy. Supra is heavier, costs more, and has BMW quality and reliability. Nissan Z is too heavy. Corvette doesn't have a manual. Mustang is ridiculously heavy.
got mine in black. to those who are looking, it doesn't hurt to negotiate
Was that car marked up to $47K??? WTF indeed, please no one pay that much for that car.
I would definitely pay that much for this amazing car 🙏🙏

You read my mind. I couldn't wait for you to try to get into the back seat 😂
Hey Will! I kinda like this one. Not sure it would be a buy for me but might be fun to drive around for a bit.
I’m debating between this and the gr corolla
I have the gr86 and really want both
GR Corolla is excellent. It's impressive, sits 4 people, AWD and has rev matching on downshifts which is lovely on or off Track.
Same. Did you ever make a choice? Would love a response if possible ❤
i love this car❤
I ordered mine yesterday. Had to put $5k deposit.. crazy. 💀
same lol
A gr86 with a 10k mark up is disgustingly greedy 😂

you forgot to show the engine
They could've updated the screen so the sun isn't producing a shit glare.
I like the previous gen much better… it’s more of a classic now.
Horn is loud and aggressive 🤣. You’re kidding right? I own a GR86. It sounds like the road runner from the cartoons. It’s pitiful
He says that about every car horn for some reason
Way off on the 0-60 time. It’s 6.1 sec and not 5.4. Show me a stock 86 running 5.4 on a dragy and I’ll buy it right now.
It really depends on how good of a manual driver you are.
@bj10jgo exactly. And the folks at car and driver know how to road test cars. 5.4 times for this and the subi are not unusual.
Environment also makes a difference. NA cars this matters a lot. Turbos it reallly doesn’t. You test a NA car in say Colorado at 5000 ft above sea level and your gonna get a shit time..
With that price, I’m better off buying a v6 mustang

Guys, I need help!
Is 39k$ with TT&L for the GR86 Premium with only 16 miles a good price?
Color pavement. Comes with an ice chest 😂😂
paid $42 23 SE. pavement color should be sold without mark up
no got a premium myself with 5 miles on it 33k in the markup color price too. no hate just don’t want others overpaying for this car.
The interior is embarrassing! 90's nissan
It’s simple I like it. Not all cars need a massive screen
My type of interior very simple and give off the boy racer vibes. I dont want overly colourful with soft touch materials like you see in luxury cars.
