See this all the time near Chicago. Cheap LED headlight specials with 90% glare, or look like they have their high-beams on. Also see the cheap bluish-white LEDs. Must work really well with 100% black window tinting.
It's a shame, but a reminder that proper lighting is essential!
@@AntLive29 Love when the pants fall down, and the people faceplant so the cops grab them.
I always enjoy your explanation for proper lighting, it helps me to educate some local club Jeep owners that shop eBay and amazon for the cheap "upgrade" from those old halogen bulbs, unfortunately many still go for a $19.99 "fix". Currently waiting for my SS5's and SSC2's coming from ESSK Customs in Saskatchewan, Love your products, my Elite Series Amber Fog lamps are going on 7yrs without a single issue. Next will be Elite Headlights and then your new Switch Bank, will you be doing a complete overview of it soon? thank you for awesome products!!
Thanks for the kind words! We're always happy to help educate people on proper lighting! And yes, we'll be sure to do a complete overview of the D-Switch as soon as they are available!
Why is the 9-3 alignment critical? I thought as long as the chip is positioned in the same space as the halogen filament was it would largely mimic the beam pattern? Since the halogen filament casts light in all directions, is there something about most reflector designs that prioritizes the 9-3 direction light?
Because the headlamp housings focus horizontal beams and not vertical
@@mv8685 I'd think all light output would have to be focused in some fashion though right? Any unfocused light would result in glare or uneven light for the driver or oncoming traffic. Is there a standard for headlight housings? My modern housing does kinda appear horizontal in reflector bowl shape, but like a Wrangler's 7" round headlight is a 365 degree bucket around the bulb essentially.
For the record I have a set of LEDs in my F-150 and have adjusted them to be 9-3 and love them (so much better than the halogens with a good cutoff and no discernable issue for oncoming traffic).
I wish more people gave a shit.. and none of them realize they’re also blinding themselves with these cheap bulbs.
